Not surprised by France's defeat Hobbs. I actually predicted before the start of the tournament that they will be knocked out in the first round and I still see that happening.

Posted by gola
lol bafana need to win by 5 goals to make it to the next round, but so do France. I smell contemplations for bribes...
It's funny how much less cars with SA Flags i've seen...
Tsepz
Ya,i think jay sean is with them. Lol, usher, haven't heard his album. That O.M.G track is cool though
Nice one, enjoy the game, i'm so jealous haha...

Just got back from Soccer City, what a beautiful stadium! I didnt get any decent pics of the outside but i tried lol.
Still cant over the fact i saw Drogba, Alves and Kaka im the flesh
The vibe was just incredible, those vuvuzelas are insanely loud when being blown by well over 50000 people,at some point during the match each side of the stadium blew them at once gettin louder and louder each time, it was just crazy! Also had a sweet mexican-wave going lol it died on its 3rd round when it got to our side.
Overall we had a freakin sweet time, never going to forget it, if you can still get tickets for the bigger games eg. Brazil, England, Spain, Argentina etc...then i say go for it, some of the Suites are almost empty, ours was half full and thats with an attendance of over 80000, its worth going even just for the vibe.
Im happy for Brazil but a part of me wishs Ivory coast had won, either way, great game.
Il post a few pics tomorrow for sure lol.

Glad you enjoyed the game.A 4 goal feast.Must have been fantastic.

I'm now using SE's Timescape homescreen.I like the way it changes the app menu and makes everything smaller and more compact. The X10 only been released with DONUT 1.6 because of the length of time it took SE to get their overlaying UI polished up in my opinion was well worth it.The 2.1 upgrade is coming somewhere in Q3.Not that long to wait.We might even be suprised and they have 2.2 in the works and are just not telling us in case it aint finished in time and they get all egg-faced.(wishful thinking but Im hoping)
Good to be back with Mr Sony and Mrs Ericsson again.lol

Some pics i took last night:

Great shots there Tsepz.

Posted by Dups!
@Hobbs

It is Mr Ericsson and Mrs Sony

I have a feeling they will upgrade this phone to Froyo but I doubt it will go beyond that to Gingerbread.

@Tsepz_GP
Nice shots there. At least you had fun with that Mqombothi on your lap

Guys, have any of you been reading Eldar's recent articles? I found myself reading some of his 'Spillikins' articles and I swear the man is deranged. All of a sudden he proclaims that SE is back when he has been saying SE is going to 'die' like Siemens. What a nut case!

He then went on and bashed Nokia. These days SE are not his target but Nokia are, he constantly bashes them like he used to with SE. He even wrote them two letters that were ignore and decided to write the thirs one for which he awaits a response. He dislikes the N8 and feels it will be no different at launch in terms of improvements to the OS.

Well, his new darling is Samsung, to an extent also HTC. With him you never know how long the honeymoon with the two manufacturers will last.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Thanx Hobbs.
Dups
Lol yep,the Mqombothi on the rocks was too good lmao.
Eish, Eldar, havent read much of his stuff since the whole N8 drama, and even before then i didnt read much anymore, i stick to GSMArena if i wana read reviews or download Phonedog.com's reviews. Eldar gets WAY TOO deep and personal, realy put me off, i hardly read these guys blogs whether Eldar, Rafe or Mr.Litchfield, they all seem to be so cought up in their love of what ever OS/Phone they use and just dont want to hear anything that says otherwise about them. I remember Steve had done a blog of why Symbian is still the best or why its the best for him with like 10 main reasons, and it came across to me as a desperate way to convince himself to stay with Symbian, even as a happy 5800 user i was like thinking 'at some point VERY soon if not already Android will have all that, then what?' they just dont want to accept theres something better out due to their own personal issues with the manufacturer.

Now things get exciting.Last first game matches played simultaneously.Who will
progress and who will fall?

Posted by Dups!
@GUCCI

I spot on there! Steve and Rafe put me off a long time ago. As for Eldar, I'm honestly amusing myself with his rants. He keeps on proving how absurd he is every time. Indeed Gsmarena is the reliable source at the moment.

@Hobbs

I see Mexico and Paraguay from our group advancing.
I also see the following going through, Brazil (they have already), Argentina (also qualified already), Chile, Portugal, Ghana.

The rest I'm not so sure of. I have a feeling Spain and Italy are not going to make it to the next round.

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Atleast we went down fighting, even beating the big boys France who have had an absolutely PATHETIC WorldCup performance, im really disappoited in them, but proud of Bafana.
Been killing my data bundle watching vid reviews of the X10 flip its gorgeous, makes the Desire and NexusOne look like crap lol, and that UI the wait is killing me!

Posted by Hobbs
I'm really pleased with the way our WC ended.I was'nt left felling sad.2-0 up after 30minutes and and the Uruguay scored.I was climbing the walls. Was really exciting....then France put one back.Well done for the future Bafana.
Tsepz
Not long to go now bro lol If I had never took the early upgrade I would have had 18 days still to wait and I think I would also have been going crazy.
In the next 8 days sometime Motorola will be releasing Android 2.1 to some of their handsets so hopefully that will give SE a bit of a push to get their update out.

X10 rooted at last

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708273

Now we just wait for the instructions and the new ROMs......

Posted by Dups!
As I thought, we were out of it the day we meekly crumbled against Uruguay. Yesterday's was the sort of performance I was looking for against Uruguay.

Granted, France were in shambles but Bafana had the spunk and the verve, there were as skillful and inventive as ever. Had they played like that against Uruguay I am sure the worst result in that match would've been a draw.

10 out 10 for the overall performance.

Brazil / Portugal match is going to be awesome.Lets hope the Portugese beat Brazil and get some huge RESPECT!

Read that link you posted. It all starts off pretty positive and then by page 36 goes to shit.Thank goodness they closed that thread until something constructive appears.
Thanks for the link though.Give me a heads up if anything new happens.

This is turning out to be the best World Cup ever! I'm still looking forward to more surprises, like Spain playing their last match today. I really don't see them going anywhere.

Definitely the pick of the day is Brazil vs Portugal, looking forward to that one.

By the way Hobbs, when do you expect to get the new X10 software update? Was checking the improvements over at XDA and it looks like the phone has been given a good update. It is apparently speedier, call volume and clarity improved and the battery life significantly improved.

I'm sure by the time it receives 2.1 it will be excellent.

Nice macro shot bud.
Dups
Checked with the Update Software on my phone and nothing yet. Will wait a week or two and if nothing comes update it via other means. Some of the reported changes sound really good so far especially the better batteryife and screen responsiveness.
Saw on GSMArena that google have released the official Froyo firmware to all brands and networks to start working on the non-Google phones.
Sony Ericsson have a great chance here to start competing again if they can work 24/7 around the clock.get 2.1 out ASAP and then 2.2 not long afterwards.

I see iPhone4 has a few minor screen and reception problems.Lets hope those get sorted out and its not widespread just certain faulty units.

Spain are looking good.
England/Germany.Best clash of the lot.Cant wait.Hope England pull that one through.

Posted by Dups!
That is a very lovely macro shot wanqs, love it!

Go Uruguay!!!

I'm supporting the underdogs in this tournament.

Ghana, Chile and Uruguay for me.

I will be supporting England against Germany but soon as they win I will turn against them

Posted by Hobbs
Uruguay through.
Go Ghana!

Posted by Hobbs
How brilliant was the Ghananians last night.
USA Terminated.
2 Brilliant goals.
March on Ghana!
Go England!

Posted by amawanqa
Thanks guys. Yeah it's not everyday that one sees a stag beetle, a female one in this case.

@ Hobbster:
Yeah, Ghana did bloody well. Even in their match against Germany, they came close to scoring several times.

I hope England pull it off today, but I just can't see it happening against Germany. Having said that, this world cup has been full of surprises already..

Posted by Dups!
Yay!
Go Ghana!! Unfortunately they face Uruguay next which means I can only cheer one team. Sorry Uruguay but I'm with Ghana on this one.

I also thought the Ghanaians played wonderfully especially in the first half. They need to tighten up a lot better at the back and a little in midfield cause they made silly mistakes a few times during the match and got away with them. Against the likes of Argentina they may rue those mishaps.

Go England, only for the Germany match, after that they should also be knocked out

Posted by amawanqa
Sh!t, how did the linesman not see that goal?!

Posted by amawanqa
All acadmeic now, Germany have run rings around them, particularly with the counter-attacks.

"They goooiing home, they're goooiiing home
They're goooing... England's going home..."

Eish, I feel for the loyal travelling supporters. Poor sods having to drown their sorrows in Bloem of all places (LOL). Had a chance to make a few thousand bucks with accommodation at all, rhino?

Posted by Dups!
Ya wanqs, that disallowed goal was another one of the many woes the referees have inflicted on a lot of teams.

However, looking at the game itself, the English were no match for a powerful and youthful German team. The Germans were so swift and decisive in their attack, not as accomplished in defence but they were simply ruthless going on the offensive.

As for me, I got what I wanted but the other way round. Now I need someone to beat the intimidating Germans. Hopefully the Argentines will do that for me.

Posted by amawanqa
Yup, it was a no-contest of sorts, Dups.
Argentina are on a roll, but I find Maradona's antics as a 'coach' irksome. Oh well, if it works for the team, so be it, I guess.

Posted by Dups!
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly with you on Maradona! I wish he wasn't associated with the team but...

I suppose you're also right that his obnoxious attitude works for the team cause they look odds on to lift the trophy unless the Germans and the Dutch have something to do to derail them.

Posted by amawanqa
Oh ja, and a German beat an Englishman in the Formula 1 today as well.

Also today, quite amazingly, England's cricket team (England's Foreign Legion? LOL) have just sealed the ODI series against Australia! 3-0 so far with 2 matches still to go! Who would've thought this a year ago?
At least now it won't be all doom n' gloom in the papers tomorrow, not that one can draw too many parallels with the enormity of another Football World Cup exit for the Poms.

Portugal or Brazil.EISH! Its a hard one to call.

Posted by Hobbs
Spain must be the most frustrating team to play against with their ability to hold on to that ball with such ease.2 day break and then the good stuff begins.
Just imagine this sweet ending.
GHANA crowned FIFA World Cup champions 2010.
Dreaming to big do you think? lol

Posted by Hobbs
How many more days to go Tsepz?

Posted by Dups!
With Spain it depends on the team they are playing. I really don't think the Portuguese are a special team like the Brazilians, in fact, I find them pathetic to say the least.

I don't think the Spanish will have it easy against the well organized and efficient Germans or the equally skillful and gifted Argentina, add Brazil to that equation then it becomes quite interesting. Don't forget the Dutch as well.

I like Ghana but to expect them to win the trophy is a bit too ambitious Hobbs.

They have a slight chance, not overwhelming, to reach the semis but I wouldn't be surprised if the don't go beyond the quarter finals. I think that they are still too young a team, the youngest in the tournament, and a little naive and inexperienced but I expect better things from them in the 2014 edition.

Posted by Hobbs
How cruel is a penalty shootout DUPS.That poor Japanese guy.But if you saw how much it meant to that Paraguay coach it makes up for it.That guy sobbed like a 2 year old.lol

Posted by Dups!
Eish, Hobbs!

I find it disturbing when a man cries because he has lost a football game, I understand the young boys up to the Under 20s but a grown man? Haikhona...

I feel for the Japanese though cause I thought they played well and deserved victory. I was actually cheering the Paraguayans on but they didn't deserve to go through.

I am not a fan of penalties.

So, i opened the safe this weekend, looking for something... And I Noticed my growing collection.
There are some phones I Wish I Kept (P800 Nok 6210 K700) but these are all still working 100% and I have the original boxes for 6 of them... Just thought I would share.

Posted by Dups!
Nice Rhino!

Are they all still functioning? I will need to dig up my collection going back to 1998.

I see you miss the P800i, well, I'm not selling my P910i nor my P1i.

Actually, I'm not even selling the beautiful Moto V8. I have really fallen in love with that beautifully crafted Moto.

I also have decided not to give my daughter my W890i but to buy her a new one. The only phone I'm likely to sell is the Bold 9700 as I just don't feel it.

BRAZIL ARE OUT

I like Brazil but I didn't think they were good enough to win the World Cup thanks in part to Dunga who has introduced an un-Brazilian football to the squad.

Would be even better if Argentina is also kicked out after it beats Germany. Holland to lose to Ghana, Spain loses to Paraguay and then we have two unfancied sides in the final.

An African side versus a South American side. Now that would be an African World Cup to cherish and remember.

Posted by gola
Haha,I'm so happy brazil is finaly out,it was suppose to happen a long time ago! Yup holland yup!
Go Ghana go!

btw great pics guys! Wanqs, Tsepz...
Awesome collection there Rhino!

Posted by Dups!
Oh Ghana!!

How in the world did they lose this one? Football is sometimes a cruel game.

Ghana had it but inexplicably lost it. The best team on the night lost, how sad and unfortunate.

Congratulations Uruguay for the tournament's greatest escape.

What a game.Penalty in last minute of extra time and then you know the rest of that SAD story.Couldnt believe my eyes.It was theirs for the taking.Hard luck Ghana.

Did you see the German machine?

Damn! They are unstoppable!

This young team is annihilating everything in front of them. I'm beginning to wonder if there is any team that will stand in their way.

Unbelievable!

Ya, it's looking like Deutschland Uber Alles at the moment.

So Spain are through to the semis to.
