Woke up this morning and felt like I needed a change in the cellphone department. I needed to feel different so I dug up my P910i and it was quite an experience. It is still in perfect working condition. I had taken out the stylus and also put it in its box but it didn't pose any problem as it worked flawless with my finger. Quite funny to see people with the new touchscreen phone stare and look amazed at my touchscreen phone.
Hmmm... maybe they were shocked at how huge the phone was
.
Just realized I had too many phones I don't use. The P910i and W890i. The Motorola V8 is my favourite slim phone because it is built like a tank and has the best call quality of any phone I have ever used. I actually use it as my second phone while the BB 9700 is one I am still trying to figure out where it will fit in cause I have a problem carrying it and the P1 as it feels like I am carrying two 'big' phones.

Ovi Maps with FREE Navigation went live today and its available for the 5800xm,if you have pre-V40 fw go to the App. Update app and if you have V40 fw go to SW Update app, Ovi Maps should appear at the top, its just over 7mb,and installs into internal memory.
LOL no more dealing with that measly 180day free turn by turn license.

If it wasn't for the contract upgrades I would probably get a phone after 5 years at this stage of my life.
I guess the more you grow old your habits also change. I mean I don't go after specs anymore just the necessary ones like the QWERTY keypad, good browser and a good call quality. The rest are just bonus.
I don't care much about the cellphone cameras, video recorder, etc.
Back then I wanted all the fancy features as opposed to now where I want the important ones for my needs.

Well, my Bold 9700 is back in its box and I'm back to using the Motorola V8 as my second phone after my beloved P1. There's nothing wrong with the phone, I just got bored with it too quickly. Life is much more than about BIS and the phone failed to get me hooked on it. It just feels like I was using a dumb phone even after a few apps I installed.
At least I still have one upgrade left to get me an exciting phone with Android.

I think for him its purely due to ergonomics, they no longer make P1 type devices (candy bar,touchscreen with QWERTY) except for Palm's Pixi and Pixi Plus,mixed with its (P1) Homescreen with like 10 shortcuts and just the overall convenience of having TS,QW-ER-TY and a UI built around that would be pretty hard to beat.

SE should be at the top of the food chain by now. They should be better than anything out there but screwing up after screwing up has led us to here.
I also agree with you Hobbs on them dropping UIQ, they should never have! UIQ4 was so far ahead and impressive that Apple's Os wouldn't be able to touch it after it evolved even further. With better support from them UIQ could be the best UI probably followed by Apple's.
Then there's the poor software engineers that continue to kill off what's left of SE's image!
It is not all gloom though, that they lost 100 million euros less excluding restructuring costs says people are still buying their recent phones. They have come up with well specced phones last year and it looks like they will continue to do so. If they could be quick to release and 'steal' Apple's engineers
they'll be alright.
I feel Q2 should clear things out, a break even would be a good sign and a Q3 small profit would mean they are back, somewhat.

Was just about to go to bed an hour ago was theres nothing interesting on tv, flicked through the channels about to give up then landed on CNBC (410) ,they had a very interesting documentary called Planet Of The Apps: A Handheld Revolution, it was all about Apples iPhone, its AppStore,developers as young as just 13yrsold
and a bit about competition. Realy makes you realise how Apple have just completely changed the game, makes you wonder if there will ever be such a major game change in the near future,as right now its all about apps and user experience. Not sure if it will play again soon,going by the tv guide it certainly aint playing again this week. Lol, imagine if Apple made a car? It would have a ridiculously low fuel milage,like 25L/100km, huge 30inch chrome rims with the Apple logo glowing in the middle sitting still even when the wheels roll,the bonnet would be sealed,need an oil change? Take it to Apple,but hey its user friendly with many internal mods, and so would sell, Toyota and Honda would be cought by suprise and suddenly have to change their approach on building cars, put aside the eco friendliness etc. . . .scary, hope they just stick to phones, itouch and PCs.[ This Message was edited by: GUCCI.011 on 2010-01-25 23:33 ]

Learning new things day by day on s60v5 lol. FINALY found a solution to my MXit navigation problems. I had given up deleted it,then came the withdrawal symptoms
extreme boredom, not everyone i personaly know has Twitter,and when it comes to Facebook these days most use the mobile site or a FB app on their phone so no chat,so after 5days with out MXit i gave it one last try. After installing it i went to Application Manager, hit Suite Settings, and found On-Screen Keyboard, in it i found you can set it to have On screen navigation keys they take up half the screen but dam they are so great to have,makes using MXit nice again, was geting tempted to pull out the N81 put airtime in the prepaid sim thats in it and use that for MXit 
as uncomfortable as it is to use that brick its so heavy and unlike the 5800,it has these sharp edges that make it uncomfortable to use for long periods of time.

I dont like how Stephen Fry thinks he knows how we all are, the novelty of a UI for me wears off and then i just want functionality and tweaking, which this thing lacks. OS4.0 may solve somethings,but lack of USB, Multitasking (may come in OS4 though) and Flash is just pathetic on a device like it.

We have caught HTC disabling features in their phones before and in order to get them back you had to use some tricks. But this is just ridiculous. As it turns out all HTC HD2 units actually have 576MB of RAM, but only 448MB of those are available to the users.
It's a bit more understandable when they disable a GPS or an FM radio unit - you only need new software to utilize it, but we just can't figure out why would HTC hide a big chunk of RAM on their flagship. And heck it wasn't even the only feature disabled by default on the HD2 powerhouse. Remember the Wi-Fi 802.11n support that you have to enable on your own?
So, it's not only the units headed for T-Mobile USA which pack more RAM, but all HTC HD2 smartphones out there actually have 576MB aboard. You only have to unlock the hidden amount of memory using some custom ROMs.
You can do that by going to the xda-developers forum and read this thread. Then get the needed ROM up and running on your HD2 and enjoy the extra amount of RAM memory. Just be careful, because it will most probably void your warranty.'

Mozilla calls this the first mobile web browser to accomodate add-ons - long a staple of the Firefox desktop browser.
