Some pretty interesting mobile platform OS stats n' figures in this article:

Well now, first time I've seen a non-network related cellphone promotion in a supermarket here. The absolutely huge supermarket chainstore here, Tesco, which has shares with Pick n' Pay etc, is now marketing a tiny (80mm x 50mm x 10mm) sim-free cellphone made by BlueChipWorld, called the VX1i.

It is purposely marketed as a sim-free cheapie, no top-up required with purchase etc. Has a mini-USB port for charging.

Price :£18.99 (approx R250).

The marketing pitch for this phone is very much as a second phone for nights out jolling or out doing whatever adventurous stuff and so on, where one's primary pride n' joy might be dropped or damaged etc.

Here's a pic I took of the stand inside the local Tesco supermarket:

Now then, that's all fine and well, but for even less money, one could go to the local Carphone Warehouse, buy a basic Samsung E1100 for £3.95 or Nokia 1650 for £4.95 or even a Nokia 1661 for £7.95, pay the £10 minimum airtime top-up with it, the handset will be unlocked anyway and you've paid less than the unknown Tesco offering while still having that airtime to use up as well.

http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/mobiles/pay-as-you-go/by-price

Go figure... but it's clever marketing by Tesco, as amazingly, there's many punters that are unaware of the sim-free status of most phones bought by Carphone Warehouse. Compounded to the fact that all other phones in Tesco and single-network shops sell locked-to-network phones. Knowledge is power, LOL.

That was a very exciting ending to a test match. We almost did it.

LMAO, after a well-supported Facebook campaign to prevent yet another pop idol-type finalist doing another cheesy cover song (cover song from the Hannah Montana movie, LOL) from being top of the charts, Rage Against The Machine's 1992 song, Killing In The Name, is officially the UK's Christmas Number 1 song!

@ Hobbster:
Ya, it was a bloody close thing. They literally held on for those last 19 balls. Impressed with Friedel de Wet. Great debut he's had.

Posted by Falcon786
yep even though we did not win that was a good ol spirited attack which is what we expect from the proteas...
a match well played and they can be proud of the effort me thinks

wanqs hows the snow storms down that side affecting you at all or is is life as usual?

Fellas, I need some help. Hope someone in here knows about this or knows someone with such a problem.

Tried google without success.

Here it goes.

About two or three months ago I became intolerant of cooked/ boiled meat- any meat, chicken included. Initially, I thought it wasn't serious and it didn't affect me much except I felt like the meat wasn't cooked well but it was.

The last couple of days I actually felt like puking every time I ate such meat.

When meat is fried it tastes like it should- great!

I am at my wit's end.

@ falcon:
I thought the pre-Christmas snow was over... it came down a fair bit late this afternoon again... Kryptik's folks must be enjoying the experience.

@ Dups:
Eish boet, that's pretty strange. Have you been to the quack about it?
I know there's a clinic based in Edenvale that specialises in dietary issues. They take a blood sample and analyse all the variables while you're there. I don't know their number, but I know that one of the extended family members will have the number somewhere.
Let me know if you want me to try and get it for you.

@wanqs

I'd appreciate the number boet. Not that I miss cooked meat but I am worried and need to find out what in the world is going on with me. Ignoring this could be a mistake.

Thanks.

Posted by amawanqa
No probz, Dups. I'll PM the number to you when the in-laws find it.

Schumacher signed a deal to come out of retirement and race for Mercedes next year?
So we presume that his superbike tar-surfing is just a distant memory now, LOL.

Another hype trail or is this gonna actually materialise this time, after the stringent medicals?:

Shame, poor Btittany Murphy. Also dead at such a young age.Just read this on a website and found the last line very bizarre.Pharmoceutical companies and doctors literally get away with murder.

'According to the notes, the medications included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.'

The notes say, "No alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered."\\

Hows that list of prescription medication.Celebrities are serious screwed up.

Posted by Falcon786
true they are pretty screwed up hobbs...got my pm?

P1i pic:

So then, evidence that it's cold here? Take one portable braai. Leave open for rain to pour into it, wait for the temperature to plummet (again). Leave piece of stick in it to act a levering tool to extract your new oversized ice cube from its makeshift mold, LOL:

Merry Xmas SAMD folk.I hope everybody has had a fantastic day.
Hi JOJO

Posted by Tsepz_GP
Dang JC,sorry to hear that man,is there no way of getting it from your local Musica without having to pay for it again?

Posted by amawanqa
@ JC:
Eish, that really sucks! How does one prove something like that?

@ Jojo:
Maaaaaaaaagandang umaga! LOL. Yeah I've still got the 1200 Kawasaki, but I sold the green 600RR; I just wasn't using it, as inline 4's don't do that much for me, despite the bike's credentials.
I've bought another Suzuki TL1000S v-twin, like the dark green one I had before, except this one is red.
Love it to bits, and I'm already modifying it by fitting top-spec Ohlins suspension to it, new fuel injection mapping to suit the performance pipes, aftermarket swingarm, etc etc.

The 'calm' before the storm, LOL:

Posted by JC08
gucci, we'll see today... ama i have no idea how, as i dont have the receit? any more....

Posted by Dups!
@JC08

Sorry about that. A friend of mine once bought a CD that contained a different artist to the one he wanted and from that day I ALWAYS open the CD in store in front of the sales person after buying.

Posted by amawanqa
@ JC:
Damn, there's pretty much zero chance without the receipt as well. It's a bitter pill to swallow, as it was apparently sealed. Like Dups, I usually check myself before walking out a shop, but I probably would've also assumed that it was in there as well if it was clearly sealed. Methinks there's a lesson there for all of us...
Unfortunately I think all you can do is put it down to a (very disappointing and costly) experience.
