Thanx man, yep atleast i have my trusty and realiable N81, like any other smartphone it freezes and restarts once in a while but for the most part its solid, it hasn't had a single serious issue.

Now that you mention this.... I had my HTC tytn for 7 months now, and i just realized while reading this post, this baby never froze or rebooted on me yet...

That has got to mean something...

I know this girl who bought my P990i from me. (and she's taking care of it pretty well I've got to admit) who I am trying to convince to open up a Vodacom contract (just got a new job and earning lots of dosh) and the plan is she walks away with the simcard and I can take the Apple I-Phone.What you think? lol Ja,wishful thinking but hey,I am the king when it comes to pulling off an insane plan like that.

HTC TYTN-sounds like a solid unit to me Rhino if you havent had a freeze or a reboot since you got it.I must admit I've had one freeze with this N95-2 since I got it and I dont think it was the phones fault but the fault of the dodgy third party app I had installed. So yeah, the N95-2 also get a thumbs up from me when it comes to stability.

@Hows your N95-2 holding up Mario.

@Brix-Bluetooth? I can just imagine been at my grandfathers house and all my young hip cousins ask me if they can transfer some of my music onto their phones and here I am sitting with a fancy smancy G1 phone and I have to reply,Sorry,my phone doesnt have bluetooth. They'll look at me funny.lol

WOW! Thats excellent considering that quite a lot of ex WM users complained about having to always reboot their WM5 PPCs atleast once a day, the TyTN i used was also fine, but then again i didnt use it much since it wasn't mine.

Lol my school bud's N95-2 is the same, never reboots but it freezes sometimes.

Mine works a lot, use it 3 hours a day for reading ebooks and at least 90 minutes for div-x movies. And it is my primary phone, AND i use skype on it most days, which impressed me since i also read the complaints that almost everyone had to reboot at least once a day...

WOAH! Those are some mad specs! Samsung realy want to dethrone the N82 and N95s hey.

Posted by amawanqa
Ya boet, they're upping their game alright; the Omnia is already making a fair impression here, and now this one's on the horizon already.
Taking note of all these progressions, ?

Posted by HOBBS
Shit Wangs.Samsung is on a roll.Did you watch that YouTube video on that link that you provided.Very well made.Makes you just want to go out and buy one especially if you are a mobile photo junkie like you are. Very nice.Well done Samsung for some good work recently.

By the way guys.8gb's aint enough for me and unfortunitely as you know I cant buy anymore memory for this N95-2.FCUK SAKES!!!!!! What to do.What to do.I know..................

UPGRADE TO THE N96......Yipee Sirrreeee!!!!! 16gb's+8gb card=24gbs.Now thats sounding better to me.

N95-2 still keeping its value over here.At Incredible Connections it cost R7649.00 cash and listen to this ridiculous contract deal.On a Talk 500 which is R800.00/month you still have to pay in a whopping R1699.00.WTF!!!

Posted by amawanqa
Ya Hobbster, checked that youtube vid. Also love the way that pic viewer scrolls through a la Apple iTouch etc.

Posted by amawanqa
The N95-2 is also holding its value extremely well here, at £379.95 (approx R5700) from Carphone Warehouse.

How much exposure has there been about ex-US prez Jimmy Carter's comment about Mbeki?:

“Former US president Jimmy Carter said the closest he has ever been to a fist fight was when South Africa’s President Thabo Mbeki told him that anti-retrovirals for mothers infected with HIV Aids was “a plot of white people against black people.”

Carter made this astonishing statement on Tuesday night at the Carter Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, while hosting a number of American and overseas journalists."

Ja Wangs.these new touchscreen devices are pretty damn awesome. The variety you have now for a touchscreen phone makes it quite tricky to choose. And with Nokia entering the game its going to get sticky.

Thabo,Jacob,FCUK the lot of them.I wish this country had a woman president.Put these fcuking pricks in their place.Ever since Thabo stepped down all I hear from people is politics and its all so negative.Im just sitting tight and going to patiently see how this rollercoaster ride pans out.Who knows.it could maybe just maybe turn out fine.

Can you believe 16gb Sandisk cards are now available.Shit.All the N95-2 users out there are weeping. At least I know I am.A bloke at Symb1an-Freak bought one and it works perfectly in his N95 Classic. The funny thing is he put 10gb's of music (1866 tracks) on it in one go and when he started up his music player it took 28minutes to refresh his music library.Cant believe he actually had the patience to sit through that.It would have drove me mad.Ive got two of the Matrix movies (absolutely adore the 1st one),34 music videos (converted high video, high audio-so the files are fairly large, same with the 2 Matrix movies.) Got to convert it to Mobile with the best settings available or whats the point.760 music tracks all in MP3 128kbps,some photo's and lots of apps and themes and Im sitting with a measly just over 2GB's of precious storage space that isnt expandable. Now that my friends is very disheartening.Do you remember when I had my P990i ,all I wanted was a 8GB card. Now Ive got 8GB's and all I want is 16GBs.Where does this journey end.A phone with a 24GB internal storage capacity and a 24GB memory card in the memory slot provided. Not far-fetched the way things are going.

About 2 days, but it charges over usb while i transfer files for about 20 minutes a day... Still aint bad... If i use it for calls only i get about 5 days with moderate use (10-15 short calls /day), and i never switch my 3g off...

The way things are going (and the size of hard drives these days decreasing as it is) i bet in 5 years or less we will see the first mobile phone with 1TB of storage.(if you remember that storage about doubles every year...)

Hello to all, I hope the year has treated you well.

I find myself once again available for upgrade and at a crossroads of what to do.

Since April all the (quality) phones available for free quickly disappeared. Looking at the phones available (on the weekender) i see few upgrades and more.. side grades(?). My w810 is showing it's age, but I refuse to upgrade to a phone just because it has 1 extra megapixel on the camera.

Which leaves me to either pay in for a better phone, or consider moving to a smart phone and consider that my upgrade reasoning.

That would probably mean I'll get the N73 (YES! A nokia phone for the SE fan! And a phone which is showing its age and isn't the most ergonomical phone around).

The iphone became available today on it's own contract, which would effectively triple my current monthly contract subscription costs. But is it worth it for a touch screen, lousy camera and no video calling? I would rather have the Samsung Omnia (and I don't particluarly like samsung), but I'm pretty sure I'll be paying in heftily for that too.

So my fellow members, can anyone recommend anything reasonable??

My wife works for MTN and i think they got the Sony C902 for R139/month on a MTN anytime 100 contract...

Posted by Siosal
Sounds like a viable option. Thanks for the feedback Rhino.

Posted by HOBBS
I dont think I fancy those contract packages very much Rhino.I wouldnt mind a +-R200/month contract deal with a R3000 pay-in.

They do have financing packages hobbs. R559 p/m for the 8 gig iphone (R599 for the 16gig), 120 anytime minutes, 100 sms' and 250mb of data.

That isn't "too" bad, all things considered.

Posted by GUCCI.011
Rhino
Thats not bad at all especialy for such a phone with a powerhungry OS my N81 needs to be charged everyday, but then again im constantly on the net with it lol.USB charging is something NOKIA should have put in long ago in their Nseries.
My word! The iPhone is one mother of a rip-off! 250mb Data Limit? You pay-in atleast R1800 for the 8GB thats madness. I wonder how its going to do.
Siosal
The W760 looks like a nice phone, i wouldnt mind if Voda replaced my K850 with a W760 if they cant fix it. 3.2mp camera, GPS, dual loudspeakers, shake control and a nice 2.2inch screen, and its free on a Weekender not a bad deal in my opinion, otherwise C902 is not so bad, wouldn't you rather wait for the W902 though? Its a 5MP Walkman with Autofocus and all those other bells and whistles.

Posted by Siosal
When is the w902 being released Gucci?

Posted by medusa
Hi everyone!

I'm reporting back after 2 or 3 months. I got the G900 today after many fights and an array nasty exchanges of words.

Seems that all I had to do was wait (as I got no where with the Glen Service Centre). Then MTN retentions department contacted me, and now I've got it! YAY!

Now all I have to do is read the manual I suppose.

Congrats on the new phone, cuz, about time they sorted out their hassles too! Congrats on the engagement too, about time YOU two started measuring your ankles for the correct shackle sizes

So my buddy popped around yesterday to drop off a printer i'd bought from his I.T. company, and whilst here i had a quick look at his new E71. What's a beautiful handset! Beautifully constructed, fast processor, sufficient memory and of course, a huge screen simply begging to be used for reading ebooks

Posted by GUCCI.011
OMG! Im shocked at the K850 BROD Solutions thread, people having BRODs over 2 times after fixing it, some saying that most service centers cant fix it etc. . . . I knew the phone had this problem but i thought the R1F FW its all fine, this looked a lot like the K800 situation which was then fixed with its latest FW and thought the K850 would be the same, seems not, anyway Vodacare at Vodaworld said they'll see what they can do, and sms me when they're done. im wondering what the hell could they possibly replace it with besides another K850, C902? The K850 is still more expensive than a C902.
Hobbs
Ye, i see quite a few sad users who have phones with built-in 8GB and no card slot. Personaly id love 16GB but i think 8GB would be enough, but thats me.

Some realy interesting stuff in this one, didnt know they actualy cared about us mobile geeks.

Hmm, both QWERTY keyboard LG phones. The former isn't stocked by any networks here that I know of.
The latter is selling well here, particularly with Orange and O2, as it is quite cheap and the keyboard appeals to many sms-wapaholics. The screen is touchscreen for dialing and other basic functions; the keyboard slides out along the length of the phone a la some WinMo phones.
