I suggest looking at a N78, N81, Or even a 6220c 5MP S60 phone.

@HOBBS
No, seriously, SE has screwed up for a long time now that I lost confidence in them about 2 and half years ago. It serves them right that they are losing some of their once staunch supporters like me though.
@GUCCI
N81 is pretty old. I'll have a look at the 6220.
Posted by GUCCI.011
EM
6220c then.
Posted by EMS06
That sounds like a good phone, I'll play with it and see what happens. Thanks GUCCI.

whoa, the n79 is a winner!!! Apparently costing 350 pounds, which is roughly the same price as the n78 in SA, it's got me thinking.
JC, I believe you have/had problems with your gps, I couldn't quite follow exactly what. But I think this link might offer some answers...

@Gucci Watch your back buddy.Word on the street is Sony Ericsson has a hit out on you. Theyve sent out their best guy to do the job.I'd get protection if I was you.hahahahaha

Greetings from the United Kingdom, y'all.
Thanks Hobbster, Gucci, gola et al. No probz or drama as such, just a somewhat tired Wanqa. Had a great jol around Frankfurt/Germany this morning. Really want to visit the place again and spend a lot more time around there.
@ falcon, eish that's about 200 quid for those G800's...absolute bargain!
(LOL, Hobbster.
PS: Just checked the cricket score... WTF?! SA bowled out by England for 83 runs!
Posted by Kryptik
It's a strategic move, Wanqa, being done in the name of consistency. The Bokke set the example, the Olympians followed suit, thus establishing a pattern which the cricketers seem hell-bent on following...

Hi tranced.
No rain here near London at the moment. I'm busy copying all the the thousands of P1i pic to the PC, then I'll start posting the best ones over the next few days.
Posted by tranced

LOL, I may be exaggerating a bit; it's just over one thousand or so, but from those I guess I'll pick a few handfuls of the best ones to post on esato...
Yeah, I'm using the good ol' data cable.
Posted by tranced
ok ok ok wanqa.
dont forget to post pics!
Posted by amawanqa
Oh what the hell, let me start off with a few
P1i pics before I get some much-needed sleep.
Right, taken last night before we left, at Johannesburg's Oliver Tambo International Airport:
Earlier this month, at the V&A Waterfront shopping centre in Cape Town:
Really happy with how this pic turned out, taken at the Citrusdal Warm Baths resort, about 180km north of Cape Town (sepia to suit the building's vintage):
One of East London's beachfronts:
Taken early this (misty) morning in Frankfurt in Germany:

Oh Wangs, wouldnt you love to own an old Cape Dutch house somewhere in the middle of nowhere and have a bank account that never says die and spend your days lounging in the sun, reading, painting, making music, doing yoga, gardening ect ect ect ,basically doing nothing at all,all day, everyday with your wife and 4 dogs.I would.

Wanqa great pics boet, i like those buildings in Frankfurt Germany, would love to go there some day

You speed-freak you.

@ Hobbster:
Just add the sea in that ideal setting and I'll fully concur, boet. Magic.
@ falcon:
Cue Axl Rose's voice from Wanqa (Hobbster can help me with these vocals too, LOL): "Just a little paaatiiieence, yeeee-ahhhh..."
LOL, watch this space, boet.
@ Gucci:
Ya, it was pretty much a whirlwind visit of the place; really want to explore that massive metropolis in more detail in the future. Almost all the German folk we spoke to helped us find our way around, in various levels of (sometimes) broken English. Certainly their English is better than mein Deutsch, LOL.

Really nice pics there wanqs.

Thanks, Ems.
Yeah the P1i's so much better after the latest f/w update; hardly any green n' magenta tints manifesting in lower-lit/pale background conditions.
More P1i pics:
Taken in Paarl:
Somewhat unconventional hearse spotted in East London:
Plenty more pics to follow in the coming days/weeks...

And to think I almost bought it yesterday. Ended up settling for a W890 after trying out the N81, E90 (again), 6220 and the C902.
I wanted a smartphone but the X1 is Windows and taking forever, then there's the Symbian Foundation which has made me change my mind. I'll consider one in 2010, hopefully things would be clearer.
Posted by EMS06
By the way, that Paarl shot is a beauty!
Posted by amawanqa
Thanks, mate.
Congrats on the W890!
Love the looks and feel of the handset. That and the T650 as well as the W350 are my fave
phones, looks-wise.
I found the W880's keys waaay too dinky and fiddly, but I can certainly get on with its superior sibling.
The wait for the X1 has indeed been frustrating; I've pretty much lost interest in it by now; the goal posts are moving ahead with each passing month.
One has to look what companies like HTC et al are churning out and suddenly any form of brand loyalty, of which I have rather little, seems to mean less and less...
Posted by tranced
hey wanqa i like your pics, specially the Paarl one.
Posted by amawanqa
I can see a rainbow....
Right, these were taken near Citrusdal, about 180km north of Cape Town. I think I need to upload some in the esato photo gallery... :
Posted by EMS06
@Wanqs
Thanks.
True, things are moving technologically and if a company can't keep up they'll be left for dead.
@tranced
Yeah, that pic is something.
Posted by amawanqa
Thanks, tranced.
P1i B&W pic taken in Malmesbury:

Taken inside Cape Town's renowned botanical gardens, i.e. Kirstenbosch:
Posted by tranced
@EMS: now the rainbow's is something too
@ama: you should upload some to the photo gallery
Posted by EMS06
My votes go for Paarl then the first one on Kirstenboch botanical gardens.
Overall, great photos!
Posted by EMS06
@tranced
We seem to be in agreement on the two pictures. The rainbow ones are nice but don't grab my attention like the other two.
Posted by tranced
What can i do?
Posted by amawanqa
LOL, guys. More P1i pics on the way...

Whoa, Killer photos Wanqs

@Gola: that looks like a candy man to me.

@Wanqs
You make me want to buy a P1 and go to Kirstenboch. The first photo- WOOOOOOW!
Posted by tranced
@ama: dont you have the grrrreeeeen tint problem?
Posted by amawanqa
@ tranced:
My P1i definitely battled with the green tint problem before the latest firmware update. Some of the appearance of the cam settings has also changed. The P1i green and magenta tints aren't that much of an issue since the update; I haven't really noticed them manifesting much in the pics since then.
@ gola:
Thanks, boet.
@ Ems:
Yeah, I totally under-estimated the place. It was indeed wow-factor. Defo going there again next time I'm in SA, as there's still much around there that I simply didn't have time to see.

AMAZING pics boet, the b&w and paarl look great.
EMS
Congrats mate.
All
Was up on Table Mountain today, took quite a few K850 pics, must say when this phone feels like it it can realy perform, ive been using it all day. Man the tourists who were there with us couldnt stop starring at it lol. Must say id much rather have my K850 than a C902. C902 looks nice but it doesn't have the K850's 'cool' factor.
Posted by amawanqa
@ gola:
Dig that pic, boet.
Now some more P1i pics from Paarl:
Early morning B&W pic taken in East London:
Posted by amawanqa
Thanks G-Man.
Damn, you lucky so-and-so again, LOL; I so wanted to take the cable car up to the top of Table Mountain when we were there. Oh well, next time..
WRT the C902, yeah that screen is a step backwards IMO; the only thing I prefer on the C902 is the thinner form factor, but the bigger screen and look of the K850i is far more appealing to me.

stunning the last three pics!
