Well done everyone here and the blokes at Foro.
And to Tranced.Congrats buddy. You've become quite a force to be reckoned with,so I'll try not clash heads to much with you in the near future.Not.lol
And then especially to the Wangster who is truly the glue to this thread. You deserve it bro.
Was nice to see Jojo's name on the list.Hope you popped in and savoured your win bud.

Wow, I'm very, very honoured to have won it 2 years in a row.. :-) Thanks guys, and thanks for the kind words, but I must also really thank all of you for making this thread, that brix started nearly 4 years ago, what it is. :-) The SAMD thread didn't get joint first place for nothin', and we all need to continue contributing to maintain that standard, which obviously has been recognised. Well done to ALL of us here, guys! Also, a big congrats to tranced and the Foro Dominicano thread too. Like all the regulars here, you're an asset to esato, mate.

Gather closer, gentlemen, and allow me to impart a word of wisdom to all prospective grooms...

The easiest way to get through wedding planning is the No-No-Yes method. It works like this... she drags you along to look at curtains, bedding, crockery, cutlery, photo frames, fabric, in fact to look at nearly everything in which the typical male's interest level is resoundingly less than zero. It's at these times that one's mind tends to wander, much to the lady's disappointment, which she will often exhibit by means of meaningful glares which could melt Kevlar. A good habit to cultivate and embed within the subconscious is the world-renowned No-No-Yes method.

Typically, she'll hold up a dress/towel/dish/swathe of fabric for your opinion. Without hesitation you tell her No... not that one... She holds up the next sample... Once again, you reply in the negative... Only when she proffers the 3rd sample do you exhibit any signs of agreeing with her selection.

This is because prospective brides tend to be indecisive, yet they think that your opinion is of value, thus the constant barrage of questions and solicitations of your opinion.

Remember now, No-No-Yes... and try to make sympathetic murmurs every now and then, it works wonders

Thats hilarious Krypts.I think its a bit of both Falcon.I think put on the wedding invitation that the only presents you and your bride want are techno gadgets. The top two items a Sony Ericsson Xperia for you and a Nokia E71 for the misses. Then can come all the accessories like memory cards,A2DP headphones, wireless keyboards, leather cases, airtime for a year ect Bugger pots and pans, coffee makers, kettles and cutlery. That way you get your cake buttered on both sides (stolen from Kryptik) lol

Cannot wait for this Tri-Nations encounter against the All Black.Wangs I hope you going to be at your local watering hole in a Springbok jersey getting down and raucous with the locals. Its going to be wicked. The World champions have all to play for.The Tri-Nations is in the palm of their hands.Lets hope they stand up and conquer!

Posted by gola
lmao

Posted by amawanqa
Thanks again, guys. @ carkitter: Congrats on your & M-O's awards, mate, and for the En-Zed thread doing so well too. :-) @ Hobbster: Ya I left my Bok jersey in the UK, but will for sure be cheering them on from where we are visiting at the moment, boet. It's been a long time since I've watched the Springboks play while I'm in SA, i.e. 2005 Tri-Nations while at the Boma in Jo'burg..

This is Tri-Nations at its best hey Wangs.Carter missing 4.Bloody unheard of.The tackling is ferocious. With ball in hand we look dangerous.Still anyones game.

Posted by amawanqa
Eish ya Hobbster, absolutely, and we're missing penalties too...; still 0-5 and so damn intense.

It's bloody frustrating!!

That must be the worst ending of a rugby match Ive ever watched. We botched it,bigtime.Off with De Villiers head, off with Matfields head, while we at all this decapitation, take off Montgomerys head as well lol

Posted by GUCCI.011
Eish thank goodness i switched to GO after watching that match for a few minutes, it wasn't looking good at all.

Posted by Kryptik
We sucked, there's no possible justification for such feeble play.

Posted by Falcon786
Lol hobbs while i'm at i think i'll add gucci's idea of a psp for gift idea's,that way when i go shopping with her i can use kryptik's no no yes strategy without even looking up from need for speed!what you all doing for the weekend?wanqa you still wanna go back to that grey dull place?

Posted by amawanqa
@ falcon: I was loaned a Suzuki GSX-R1000 for the weekend, riding with old friends this morning in wonderful weather out to one of the beautiful coastal resorts close to East London, without too much concern for speed cameras etc, and you ask me that,LOL. Boet, I miss all this so much, but in the same breath it also isn't lekker to see fellow teachers at my old primary school trying to get through each month on salaries of just R8000-R10000 a month... Nah; there's as much of a difference between the salaries as the countries themselves. Sigh, as I've mentioned before, if only one could have the best of both worlds..

Try Transmitting to your K810. Switch it to an unused frequency and make the N78 transmitt to that same frequency, apparently u can do that to a bunch of phones, when you're at school tomorrow ask a bunch of your friends to do that and transmitt the music to a group of them.

Just when you think you've heard it all something like this happens: http://www.news24.com/News24/[....]ws/0,,2-7-1442_2378219,00.html

Grandfather wanqa is out touring lol so be patient kids he dont have much time for tea and chit chat .wanqs i know what you mean, trying to live decently with below ten grand is tough,so you planning to live there forever or you have a game plan, like maybe invest enough to allow you monthly withdraws to supplement a basic salary if your back here to a good one or what?jc congrats man where's our mini review and first impressions etc?huh huh huh

Posted by amawanqa
@ falcon:

LMAO, ya Oupa Wanqa needs to keep up with the the latest buzz, LOL.

I'm not going to say that I'll never move back to SA permanently, but for the forseeable future I'll be living in the UK... We've got Dual Citizenship so our options are wide open.
We have thought about buying a house in EL and building up enough of a 'nest egg' to live off each month, but the rate of inflation and price hikes here leaves a few more questions to be answered...
At this stage though, we're looking at either saving to purchase a second house in the UK (15% deposit required at least on a second house here) or investing in some off shore thingies like ISA's etc.
I'm watching how SA house prices are fluctuating too, particularly down here where house prices are starting to either plateau or steadily decline with the current financial climate..
Decisions, decisions... we've got to sit down with our financial advisor in the near future and see where we go from there. Whatever the outcome, we'll make sure we've done our 'homework' thoroughly before making any long-term financial decisions etc.

Posted by tranced
@ama: i wish you the best of lucks. Things are a bit tough here too, but we gotta swallow it. Thank God i live at home with dad.

Posted by amawanqa
@ falcon:
Another thing boet, check out some house prices in East London and PE compared to other parts of the country... crazy. I'm sure Kryptik and Mario/Jan would concur.
I just dunno how the average oke manages to cope... am I missing something?

@ tranced

Thanks mate.
Yeah sometimes we don't always realise that there's so many people in countries outside of our own continents that are also really financially battling; there's a lot that I'm very grateful for.

Posted by Kryptik
I often wonder how young people, on the verge of starting out in life, are expected to buy a house, when those of us who've been in the game for a while are just about keeping head above water. These days it's nigh impossible unless one has either an interest-bearing portfolio or another reliable source of income.

Wanqa, did you get to spend any time in the classroom the other day? Rowdy bunch of little felons, aren't they?

Speaking of felons and the law, in years gone by i did some legal courses and training, and the way things are looking at the moment i may be joining the educ.dept's legal division in Jan. 2009, if not sooner.

Posted by amawanqa
@ Kryptik: Unfortunately we didn't have time to check out the felons in action as such; we purposely arrived there before breaktime and after saying howzit and then a speech to all the staff, we were chatting at length with the acting headmaster, the same oke who gave a naughty li'l Wanqa several hidings when he attended the very same school in the early 80's, LOL. BTW, had a short but lekker chat with 'Stofpad' as well. He didn't seem sure as to when he'd have a chance to see all the guys again. But he's well and involved as ever with the hockey etc.
