@ gucci, the n78 doesnt have an accelarometer, right? I'd really buy it if it did, as n82 has such useful apps for the accelarometer...
Ive been thinking
N78 over n82
- screen brightness
-battery
-size
- fp2
N82 over n78
- accelarometer
- cam
- video
- tv out
- more stable fw
Damn it its a really tough choice!

@ Kryptik: It's pretty sporadic here most of the time, even on Vodacom, boet. The 3G icon on the P1i display is enjoying a friendly game of peekaboo with me throughout the day... Right,Wanqa's off 'kuiering' again. See ya'll later. :-)

Yep. The N78 doesn't have an accelerometer. If you are prepared to pay-in then go for N82. But if you can get both free i'd say take N82. There is a hack to make the N82 screen brighter.

Hey buds, you reken is OK to pay R4000 (approx.. Euro340) for a brand new (boxed) N95-8gig? (from Durban,SA) Will I be able to get it cheaper in Europe? I will be in Switzerland for +-5days in sept. (business trip).
Will it be worht to wait for the N85? My N73 is toast
On another note,I am happy to see the 'Scorpions' soap/saga is entering the final stage. They are a embarassement for the government in particular and South Africa in general. See here - http://www.iol.co.za/index.ph[....]_id=vn20080813054952984C353141

@Hobbs, Tx for the input. Bag it I shall
@Tranced, South Africa used to be a properly governed. Now - no more
Basically the South African parliament is run by 2 types of people: Those who understand what they do not manage and those who manage what they do not understand. I begin to envy the ones who jump over the Indian Ocean to the East. Can't wait for the first Afrikaans skool to open in Brisbane
@Ama, listen to this joke: Who is the biggest producer of cooking oil in SA over the last month or so? 'Die Boere' one might think - WRONG ANSWER thou! ESCUM - And yes I know it does not make sens (unless you are from SA)

Posted by amawanqa
Power's back on. Took your advice, Hobbster, LOL. Been a lazy bugger when we haven't been visiting. @ tranced: How often do you guys have electricity/ power failures there?

@janbo:

@ama: these days the electricity is available ~50% of a day. sometimes more, sometimes less...much less

Posted by amawanqa
Wow, didn't realise the electricity would be more infrequent than in SA.

Thought I'd say "hi" to everyone with a couple of pictures...I haven't done it in yonks.

Went to this bar one night and it had some nice lighting effects below the counter. So I decided to share it.

Here I'm just waiting for the train to arrive. Its funny here how no-one talks in the train whereas SA trains are known for being noisy from school girls babbling about boys to preachers spreading the gospel.

Posted by HOBBS
..........To gangsters screaming at you to kindly hand over your cellphone and then been shouted at for resisting their demands and unwillfully tossed out of a moving train.lol As Depeche Mode say Brix....'Enjoy The Silence'

Do convey my best regards, boet Btw, the power hasn't been out here since the "load-shedding" schedule was suspended a few months ago.

@ JC, nice going there buddy, i'll bet you're going to love your new baby

Posted by amawanqa
@ Kryptik: I certainly will, boet. Apparently Slummies also hasn't suffered with power outages since the load-shedding ceased. The one yesterday was only in the Greenfields/ Sunnyridge area (near the airport) of EL due to some local work being done.

I saw this report on news24.com yesterday. The banks are becoming innovative, let's hope they become more competitive with regards to their charges as well...

No-card ATM service launched

Johannesburg - Absa has launched a card-less ATM
service, CashSend, aimed at servicing both banked and unbanked South Africans, the bank announced on Thursday.

CashSend will allow Absa customers to electronically transfer funds using an Absa ATM, self-service kiosk, mobile banking or internet banking, to a recipient who is then able to withdraw the funds without needing a card or bank account.

"We have equipped our first ATM screen - 'Insert Your Card' - with an icon, which reads 'CashSend Withdrawal'. All the recipient needs to do is press this icon which will automatically activate the ATM for a CashSend transaction," said Venete Klein, executive director of Absa Retail Bank.

An Absa customer, the sender, can transfer a maximum payment of R3 000 from an Absa ATM or kiosk and R1 000 rand from Absa Mobile and Internet Banking to a recipient.

The sender will need to enter the cellphone number of the recipient as well as select a six-digit access code. A system-generated 10-digit withdrawal number will then be automatically sent to the cellphone number provided. The system also generates a 10-digit number, which is provided to the sender for reference purposes.

Following this the sender will have to contact the recipient with the access code as well as the amount. The recipient can then easily withdraw the money by using the withdrawal number, access code and the specified amount.

Klein pointed out that the withdrawal amount must be requested in full, as CashSend does not allow partial withdrawals.

"Unclaimed funds are automatically returned to the sender's account after a period of 30 days," she said.
