nice one!
HTC? Hehe. . . .who knows hey
ye that accident has been the talk of the town since it happend, the mother to guy in the Diablo is the principal of Christian Academy pvt school (now known as Knight's College) apparently, what a way to go, the guy in the article is correct though you can't be behind the wheel of a Diablo if you're not trained to, those 80's-90's supercars are amongst the most unpredictable, dangerous and outrageous vehicles ever made, they require the driver to be responsible, and to expect the unexpected, why in the world do they just hand one to a 22yrld? I suspect he was drunk, but anyway we will never know the real truth. The detectives who were at scene apparently saw one long line of skid marks and predicted that the Diablo must have been doing just above 200km/h at the time of the crash. Realy scary but sad at the same time.

I haven't had this much fun in ages! I've been taking the N73 for a trial run since about 8pm, and i must say, Scott and the gang sure as hell know what they're doing, Gucci! Those hacks for installing unsigned apps... pure brilliance, dude!

Wanqa, how goes the packing, bro? Aired out those suitcases yet?

Posted by HOBBS
I used the Drakkarious Hack Pack found on Ipmart Kryptik to install unsigned.I found it the easiest. What method did you use?

Posted by amawanqa
@ Kryptik:
Ya I've chased out most of the moths, LOL.
Also bought one of those hard plastic cases that don't have zips to hopefully deter dodgy luggage handlers in SA...
We've never had anything scaled before on our travels, but I'll do my bit to ensure that this status is (hopefully) maintained..
Bringing a few phones over; one for a friend and 2 for family. (plus a high capacity memory card for a member of our SAMD thread).
Packed most of the luggage already. Now where's the bathroom scale..., LOL.

Next week this time we'll be on our way to CT!

Posted by Kryptik
Hobbs, there's an application called HelloCarbide which, when used in conjunction with X-plore, allows you to overwrite the OS9.1 Server file found in C/bin/sys. It's easier done than said, lol, took all of 15 seconds to complete.

Wanqa, nice going there mate, be careful of those baggage handlers at C.T.International. The buggers managed to successfully break off the wheels on my Samsonite knockoff the last time i was there

Unfortunetly thats a feature they tookout the N81 just before release, i remember the N81s at RAGE had TV-Out. Must be a great feature to have.
@ Kryptik
Thats great news boet! thats the "Hack No PC" one right? Im using the very same hack, very simple and easy to do, didnt have to re-read instructions everything is straight forward! Have you seen some of the latest S60 3D Games? Are you going to try out Ngage?

Posted by HOBBS
Drakkarious Hack Pack/Hack No PC same thing with the instructions Kryps gave.its getting a bit warmer here in CT Wangs. You coming just in time.2-3 weeks ago u would have had a dreadful time.Rain, rain and more rain and bitterly cold.

Posted by Kryptik
I'm tempted to try out those games, boet, but i'm having so much fun setting up the phone atm that i may very well get around to it sometime in the distant future. I'm sorry to hear of your loss, majita, read about at Pro. i'm sure the angels in Symbian Heaven are taking great care of your loved one, lol

Posted by GUCCI.011
Thanx Kryps, the poor thing is just going back in its box now and il keep it there, maybe il try take it apart and see whats going on in there during the holidays.
For those who dont know my N80 died last night. thats the 2nd phone to die in my hands lol. . . . .give it 12months and the N81 maybe the same. im on my phones 24/7 if im not doing anything else, guess this decreases the phone's life time.

Posted by JC08
@ gucci same here man, my k810 doesnt have any paint left on the buttons lol...when are you upgrading now mate? Thought you could have already?

Posted by JK
Hello all!!!

I need a fresh idea for a service or an application that a Service Provider like MTN/Vodacom can implement.
Any ideas??

Also maybe improve something already there or something new and fresh!

So what would you like your SP to provide to you that you would use on a daily basis?

Thanks!

Posted by GUCCI.011
JC
Ive been up for upgrade since the 12th but not been able to go, parents far too busy, so im going this saturday. and you? Have you decided on what you wanna get? Shame bro, i don't think these devices are made for people like us hey
All
The HTC Touch Diamond is now available at Vodacom on a Talk500s with a R1899 pay-in, that was quick, the NOKIA N78 is not even here, and lets not even talk about the N96 or SE X1.

Posted by Kryptik
JK, that one's easy- unlimited data for a fixed monthly/weekly/daily rate.

Posted by HOBBS
So Kryptik. What does 'setting up' your N73 entail?

Posted by gola
Anyone heard from kyle?

GUCCI
Ma w900i is..........still going strong
Nashua mobile also has the HTC touch diamond, not sure about the prices though and the x1

And the Travelling Wilbury aka Brixster? No updates from the man.Slacker.Brix... you banned from here lol Amawanga is now in charge lol And if he turns down the staff,Kryptoniteandday is next in line.

@GUCCI-Is there any S60 apps, games, sites thats worth a look at.Im getting bored now.At least with UIQ3 there was anticipation cause releases were so far and few between. Also there were passionate followers like the UIQ Evangelist and the P1i Blog that used to be on the button with whats going on and what was on the horizon.Ive been trying to find a Blog on the N95-8GB,so that I would be up to date with whats happening in the world of my phone, but I cant find anything.S60 is overkill.Just alot of 'stuff' A lot of it is just crap and useless.I need to be inspired man.INSPIRE ME

Sneaked into my clients garage today.Hows this 4.5 million rand Bentley. Will try find out the model tomorrow.Next to it is a Porsche and a Mercedes SL.Will take more pics tomorrow. Some peoples toy boxes are just insane me tinks.

The major consideration with Symbian phones is customizing the UI, Hobbs, i.e. setting up the folders and apps in the same menu layout which i always use. Then there's the process of finding the proper applications, hacking the OS, and most importantly, getting the theme just right! It was doing my head in trying to find the exact brushed metal theme i'd used on the 6680, 6630 and 6600, and after hours spent messing about with Unmakesis, Sisware, etc to extract the mbm files, convert them to jpg, edit them then reconvert and recompile into sis files, i FINALLY saw a post concerning a theme-maker who makes beautiful themes. Had a looksee and found the very thing i've been trying to create, albeit in black. I is now a hêppie boytjie

PowerMP3 (Beta) for UIQv3
« on: July 08, 2008, 09:05:34 pm »

Heres one for you Wangs.Remember PowerMp3 on S60.Well.....

Mobifactor is proud to offer a beta version of PowerMP3 for UIQv3.

Direct link to download the beta version:
http://www.mobifactor.ru/data[....]3_UIQv3/PowerMP3_UIQv3_1_2.sis

Give it a try and let me know how it is.I loved PowerMp3 on my Nokia 6680.When I had my P990i I scoured the internet for this app only to be highly disappointed cause it never existed for UIQ3.

@ Hobbster:

I'm not sure why it's going so much cheaper now. Perhaps all the 'B.R.O.D.' problems that have been discussed on forums here haven't helped, perhaps the fact that until recently there was just a £25-odd price difference between a K850i and the new C902 and Nokia 6220 Classic, and possibly adjusted the price to shift the remaining stock and make way for these 2 newer handsets.
When I asked the guy in the local CPW store earlier today about the price drop, he wasn't even aware that it had just been lowered, by the very company he works for...

Dunno, maybe I've read one-too-many K850i issues threads to bother contemplating this handset as a second phone; methinks that lovely LG is probably still better value for money..

Posted by amawanqa
@ Hobbster;
I've been so engrossed with work over the past few weeks, tying up loose ends before we close on Friday, that I'm way behind with the latest UIQ news n' stuff. Methinks this warrants a long visit tonight, at the UIQ Evangelist's site..

Posted by HOBBS
Wow Kryps. You made me feel like I was in kindergarten there for a mo.lol

@Wangs-ANd dont forget the P1iBlog.They go hand in hand..

@ Kryptik:
Glad you're enjoying the N73, boet.
Had to laugh when I saw 'sisware' again (and the well-known dotsis site); a South African supply teacher that was recently at our school remarked "Sis!" when she saw something that one of the kids left a trail of vomit on the way to the toilet. The two Pom colleagues were bemused by why she had referred to the sick girl as 'sis!'
I then explained the SA colloquial meaning, and later explained to the newbie SA supply teacher that the Poms wouldn't know what 'sis!' means, or takkies, or koki's, or photostat, or howzit, or that 'just now' means 'right now' here etc etc.

EDIT: Hobbster, you're a star; thanks for the UIQ3- Power MP3 link.
Will defo check out the app.

Yay! I'm the proud owner of a LG!

LG KC550:

Unlocked, unbranded for £99.95. (approx R1500):

5mp with auto focus, flash and Schneider-Kreuznach lens, plus image stabilisation
30fps video recording
2.4" screen (same size screen as a N82 or N78)
Full TV out
Accelerometer with 6 motion-sensitive games
Micro SD slot
FM radio etc.

As I have previously mentioned, no 3G or wi-fi, but I'll survive without these, well at this stage anyway.
Dang, it's such a lot of phone for that money.

Yeah I'll put it through its paces with the P1i in SA.
For that money and specs I was prepared to take a chance. If it bombs out in the months to come I'll eat humble pie. And learnt another lesson.
For some reason I think it's gonna be just fine...

Thanks, tranced.

Just got back from eating out with the mrs.
Took a few pics of the KC550 earlier before we went out.
Will upload them shortly.

Wanga has been a bad boy but by the specs of that LG (especially since he likes hes photos and to throw in the 30fps video recording) I'll forgive him but never trust hes Symbian loyalties and the oath he took and swore to uphold. The Symbian council will from this moment on put you on probation and you are now considered a second class citizen in this neck of the woods. You have been spat on.Phet! Vermin. Is it my imagination, but does it all of a sudden smell in here.lol Congrats bro.For that amount of cash its a great buy.

Posted by amawanqa
LMAO Hobbster, this P1i pleb of the realm, this UIQ untermensch has suddenly spurned his undivided smartphone attention to this:

Ya, as a second phone I hope it serves me well. The P1i will be heavily used in SA, o this will come in handy for lotsa extra happy snaps, 'kyk-daar' moments etc when I've drained the battery on the P1i etc, LOL.

More pics on Friday or so; I'm a knackeed wanqa now.
Sleep well y'all.
