@ JC: I'm really not sure at this point.

I'm first going to get the P1i's firmware updated and see how much of a difference it makes. I enjoy some of the UIQ3 applications but as we all know, S60 provides so much more. I like the size and looks of the P1i, and it has been pretty stable.

My love for touchsceen handsets does limit me a fair bit at this stage. I was really set on a G900, which goes for the same money as a N82, but it seems to be a mediocre upgrade from the P1i IMHO.

I might wait for the new Nokia S60 touchscreens to surface and see what they offer, or wait for WindowsMobile platform phones to obtain better cameras in the future..

EDIT: 18000 posts, peeps!

Dang, you're right! Here's looking forward to the next 18000 posts

Lol Ama, that's taking it a bit too far, hopefully a drastic change will occur after the firmware update. Yeah, it really is a nice looking phone, that's for certain.

Posted by amawanqa
@ gola:
I certainly hope that the latest firmware will be a decent enough upgrade.

I bought the P1i knowing about the cam tint issues, and in all fairness the P1i has produced some bril pics with me, but when the problem manifested dramatically in so many pics in those conditions, it's hard to find much 'understanding' for something that should've clearly been rectified at the prototype stage by .

It's not that I would diss the phone as a whole, based on a well-known flaw; as I've mentioned already I do like the phone (for all the reasons that wooed me into buying it in the first place).

Having stated all this, I should've updated the firmware sooner as well..

P1i pic taken on Saturday:

Taking a b&w pic of a flower seems to be an injustice of sorts, but the light filtering through onto this flower prompted me to give it a go, to emphasise the lighting contrasts. And the result came out pretty cool, IMHO:

Yeah janbobejan/mario2004, and was this delightful pic of you also taken with the same N73? Or N95? :

I didn't have to go as far as that to appreciate how cold SA can get in Winter, boet; when I still stayed in EL, Queenstown and Stutterheim were cold enough in mid-Winter... LOL.

@ ama do you want us to vote for one so you can enter it in this months shootout?

Posted by amawanqa
@ JC:
Ya, thanks, it would be good to hear other people's thoughts as to which one I should possibly enter.

Normally I make up my mind relatively easily as to which I regard as the 'chosen one', but I'm really battling with this selection of shots, LOL.

I like that black n white pic, it looks different, otherwise the red flower doesn't look bad, although Im browsing on Opera Mini!

Posted by amawanqa
Eish, watching the Proteas batting today against England has been as mind-numbing as watching paint dry. Can't blame them, considering the circumstances, though...

@ JC:

Thanks for the feedback, boet. Ya, the b&w is also one of the three that I've narrowed down.

I vote for the black n white as well, great stuff Wanqs

Posted by amawanqa
Thanks, boet.

So that's 2 for the b&w and one for the orange one:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=151820&start=585

Yeah I also think the b&w should be entered as it's a different focus (excuse pun) and approach on subject matter that is normally associated with vivid colours.

Are you on a TopUp590? Im probably going to do my upgrade this coming weekend, and im thinking of moving from my Talk130 to a TopUp590, think its a good idea? I dont call a lot anymore just sms and surf the web mainly, do you buy your Data Bundle with the R590 of airtime?

Posted by JC08
@ gucci, my mom has top up 590 Im on top up 315, but I buy a 250mb bundle per month and still have almost halve of it, on top up 590 you can buy a 1gig bundle and still have enough left to sms alot!

Thanx bro, i currently get a 500mb data bundle per month but thats exactly what i plan on doing with the top up 590 buy a 1GB bundle, and maybe a 100sms bundle and use the rest (R266) for calls. it will bring my monthly bill down, my bill on my current contract was R700 last month, not good.

Posted by JC08
@ gucci, yeah man... And believe me if you dont call alot the rest of that money can quickly stack up each month!

hopefully a N82 hey, otherwise il preorder the iPhone3G-16GB, apparently we should see apps and hacks soon that will allow video recording and BT Transfer, ive developd a bit of liking towards the new iPhone, especialy after seeing a friends iPod touch and 3rd Gen iPod 60GB.

Posted by EffenLied
An I-Phone.....Wangs,Gucci is going to the DARK DARK side.lol Nothing wrong with that bud.Be nice to have someone here in the corner of the I-Phone.I saw a video demo of the first one and its an awesome phone.Throw in all the newbies and it can only get better.

Finally changed my font on the N95-8GB,(yes Wangs to boring Tahoma.) There was an issue with the procedure because of it having no memory card and just 8gb's of mass memory,so when people tried it they couldnt afterwards access data transfer when pairing up with their pc's because their mass memory was in use because of them having changed fonts. Thanks to noeman.org,some clear insructions and the help of an app called 'fontrouter.sis',y-browser.sis and dedit.sis,it became possible. There are some very clever people out there. I think its the cleaness and neatness of Tahoma that gets me.

How the hell do I get my pics bigger from Image Shack.I say resize to 640*480 and they still come out small.

I've narrowed down my choices in most of the categories, going to have a final browse thru the forums over the weekend before sending off my selections via P.M.

Have you guys heard this rumour regarding Apple's idea of building a solar-powered iPod? Sounds promising indeed...

Posted by mario2004
@Ama That pic was taken with my N73 In the background are the Barberton hills/mountains.It was taken just prior to the SA nationals (paragliding comp) Some pilots refuse to belive I was in SA at the time And no,the pic is not photoshopped. The N73 is pretty good at picture taking, nowere near the n95 when it comes to video thou Yesterday I flew from Jbay to PE along the beach (police chopper). I will post a virtualdub 'fixed' video clip.Quality wise, its not dvd like as Nokia wants us to believe! (not far behind it thou) The N95 8gig is a damn nice all arounder - Dark empire or not !

@Mario-We are in agreement there bud re-the N95-8GB And no more shooting baboons ok ....please

@ Mario:
I'll happily concur that the N73 takes good pics. As you know, I managed to take some decent enough pics with my N73 when I had it.

WRT the N95 8GB, again I'll agree with the sentiments shared re the capabilities of this handset; it's common knowledge (except for someone like plankgatan ) that it is still pretty much THE phone to beat.

Yeah we have a light-hearted dig at the Dark Side sentiments, but I'll happily dabble in the Dark Side again as soon as S60 goes touchscreen...

I'm also considering getting The Better Half a Nokia 6220 Classic; probably in time for Christmas.
They're the same price as a C902. Well after seeing how small the screen is (!) on a C902, and how average the pics are in the comparisons on the 'net, plus the lack of smartphone capabilities, the decision's quite a no-brainer...

Congrats Gola, time really flies boet!

I had fun yesterday, checking how many of my colleagues knew who David Motsamayi was. Quite (un)surprisingly, nobody knew.

So, anybody going to Madiba's birthday bash? It seems that the Post Office screwed up, my invite hasn't arrived yet, lol.

Let's hope and pray that he's blessed with a few more happy and healthy years.
