Posted by kyle_274
my mom was tryin in north gate. on the weekend i went 2 the rustenburg mall. they hve 3 different voda shops none of which had the phone either, i didnt ask them wen they will get it. ill go bck on saturday and find out

Posted by GUCCI.011
Wanqa
That P5 looks a bit like a Samsung.
Kyle
Sorry to hear that but if i were you i'd go with what Hobbs said, Voda can be so full of crap sometimes.
If you are able to try Fourways Mall Cresta OR go straight to Vodaworld if you are going to be in JHB.

i think this weekend we might be going thru to jhb, but im not sure

Posted by amawanqa
@ Gucci:
You're spot-on, it certainly does look like a Samsung, particularly with that round scrollwheel etc.
Yeah, the X1 looks so much more sophisticated n' smart, IMHO.

Posted by GUCCI.011
Wanqa
Yep especially that round scroll wheel, the design is something you would expect on some Samsung Fashion orientated phone. The X1 definetly looks better. I'd expect the next Pseries Flagship to have a similar design to P990 or P1, the whole sliding form is just not a Pseries. . . . thing lol.

Posted by gola
Is that the P5?
I like
@kyle
good luck bro, hope you get it soon...

Posted by brix25
@da wanqsta: Thanks for posting those "P5" pics...something tells me it will have another name. From what I can see, it will definitely be a grease magnet...so any considering this phone or any of the new SE's that come with a glossy finish will need a screen protector.

I'm leaving sunny Cape Town on Friday morning, landing in KL 12 hours later and then getting a connecting flight that takes me to Bangkok.

OT: Just got back from a book launch by Alex Boraine at the Mount Nelson Hotel where Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu also spoke and have to say it was quite enjoyable listening to people who speak to power without fear.

PS: HOBBS...I might be throwing a farewell of sorts at Mojito's in Long Street on Thursday night...email me tommorow or Thursday morning for an update.

Posted by amawanqa
@ da brixsta:
Yeah, I'll second that gut notion about it possibly not being designated 'P5i'. PeterKay had a prototype, but as we know these usually have the generic 'SE123' prototype designation.
Let's hope it's got the specs to impress; for some reason I'm not overly optimistic..

Mfowethu, in case you're too busy sorting things out before Friday's departure to Kuala Lumpur, I wish you the very best of luck with your year-long venture in south-east Asia.
Hopefully you'll have sufficient opportunities to still visit us here at esato, from Jojo's back yard.. Keep in touch, mate.

Hamba gahle, mhlekazi.

Posted by Falcon786
Sorry if i missed the post but why are you moving again hobbs?would be a pity if you didn't post enough lol i guess we got too used to you....
Apparently there are a couple of n82's that my friend has which are fake but have all the features as the original...if the gps and 5mp cam work i'm taking one!

Posted by HOBBS
Falcon I aint going nowhere.Brix is going East to find a wife. (Congrats on your P1i bru,or does your avatar lie)

Posted by Kryptik
I second the sentiments expressed by Wanqa, Brix. Have a safe and uneventful journey, buddy, and may your sojourn abroad be enriching. (and you'd better invite us to the wedding!)

Have passport, will travel

Posted by mario2004
Hmmm . . . If the 'privileged' ones are leaving, what am I still doing here . Have a nice trip Brix, and let us know how the teaching goes.

Posted by GUCCI.011
Brix
Hope you have a great trip man! Enjoy life on the Eastside!

Where's everyone today?!

We've gone undercover, Wanqa, deeeeeep undercover... either that or the load-shedding/power cuts have reached ghastly proportions!

Just got back from the only Spur in the county of Essex, at Lakeside Shopping Centre.

P1i pic:

OK, how's this for a challenge? Wonder if they have anything similar at the Spurs in SA? And no, I didn't give the 64oz 'meneer' challenge a go...yet. LOL:

How much is 64oz in KG/Grams?

Posted by Rhino8
So the 17th, we went to the local go cart track for their monthly competition racing.

These beasts are like 10 horsepower and are water cooled... They race 3 heats with 2 warmup laps and 8 race laps.

Pix taken with HTC TyTN in super fine mode... 2mpx cam

Posted by GUCCI.011
Wanqa
Great Pics, im not a big fan of Spur,im more of a MickeyDeez kinda guy
Rhino
64oz= 1.8KG.
Nice pics man, the TyTN has AutoFocus right?

Posted by amawanqa
@ Rhino:
64 ounces is just over 1.8kg.
I agree with Gucci, those are darn good minimoto racing pics. Wow,even got wavey disc brakes on the front. Was that at Phakisa?

@ Gucci:
Tks, boet.
LOL, nah I'm not that much into McD's; if you're ever in the UK, I'll take you to Burger King...although no McFlurry's there of course.

I guess it's a bit of a novelty going to a SA chain restaurant here, but yeah, I'm a Spur slut.
They don't have Monkey Gland sauce though; probably because of the handful of Spur restaurants in the UK worrying facing a wave of complaints from animal rights activists and people not familiar with the sauce. LOL, can you just imagine the Poms reading 'Monkey Gland Burger' on the menu...
Such savages, aren't we?

The HTC has auto focus, yep, and i am still figuring out the cam (the 2nd pic is blurry but im working on it) and trying to get the ultimate settings on the phone... further its not bad.

This was not at pakhisa its the local go cart track in Bloem

Posted by HOBBS
The 88 Green bike is a great photo.Well done Rhino.

Bye Brixster.Have a good one buddy.Be good,and if not,be very very bad.

Yeah, bon voyage, Brixster.

I belong to the biggest teachers' union in the UK, the NUT. Yesterday all NUT members went on strike, the first time in 21 years, to ensure that our yearly pay increments are on a par with the inflation rate. Now although inflation isn't bad here, one obviously needs to ensure that one's cost of living/outgoings are not increasing more than the salary increments year-on-year.
Sigh, they're just haven't discovered the art of toyi-toying yet, LOL. A distinct (and total) lack of that true African in-born rhythm (sez this whitey!).
Yeah, even my impromptu (a.k.a. dodgy) toyi-toying performance amongst the picketing peeps drew more puzzled/bemused glances than anything else... LOL.

Posted by kyle_274
howzit everyone. how you all doin? does anyone else think opera mini 4.1 sucks? im really hating it. its way 2 ram hungry, sometimes it wont load the whole page, when i open a page it would freeze on 0kbs, when zoomed in you cant stop the page from loading. you have to zoom out to stop the page which is really annoying, so iv deleted it. and gone back 2 good old 4.0. doesnt have any of the problems which 4.1 does

Posted by GUCCI.011
Wanqa
"Monkey GlandBurger" lol i can only imagine how the Poms would react to that! They'd totaly overreact and blow it all out of proportion!
Kyle
Whatever bro. . . . .Im not talking to you until you have the N81 in your hand LOL!

Posted by HOBBS
Kyle still no new phone yet? You've gone back to good ol Operamini 4.Me,Ive gone back to good ol Trusty 3.1.Bugger landscape and page overview.

Posted by brix25
Right now at Kuala Lumpur International to catch a connecting flight to Bangkok...fookin massive, luckily I didn't lost in the madness.

Peace out!

Posted by HOBBS
In the East and you already saying things like Peace Out.Next you'll be saying Namaste,I acnowledge the God within or even start chanting Om Manne Padme Hum.lol Now Ive got I think it was Bananarama's One night in Bangkok in my head. Have fun bro.

Posted by amawanqa
It was some oke called Murray Head that sang 'One Night In Bangkok', Hobbster. Eish, high school years...

Ya, and as Confucius (apparently) said:
'Man who walks through airport turnstiles sideways going to Bangkok...'

Posted by HOBBS
Very funny Wangs.Saw on the news last nite ol Bladerunner Wesley Snipes has been sentenced to 3 years for tax evasion. If I was Blade Runner id do a 'runner' and cross the border into Mexico and become a Chilli farmer.3 years, thats long bru for a celebrity who's been living the good life.

Posted by kyle_274
@gucci, lmao. dude. its not my fault i dont have the phone. lol. voda should have gotten them in on friday. we going to jhb on monday and we'll go to a few shops to see if anyone has it. iv been preparing for it. iv gotten all the apps i think ill need. i got all the files for the hacking, i just cant download the ngage games. my connection is way to unreliable. it bombs out of the download.

Posted by Kryptik
I love that old Murray Head song

So, has the union made any progress yet, Wanqa? More power to the NUTS, lol

Kyle, hope you get sorted soon, dude. It's about time that the service providers got their act together.

Hobbs, i can just picture Brix in brightly-coloured robes, chanting away!

Posted by GUCCI.011
Kyle
Do you have 3G in your area? If you do then just download the games with the phone when you get it. I haven't hacked my phone i just sign apps with MobileSigner and my phone certificate. Theres already a ROM Patch for S60v3 TO allow you to install unsigned apps, and OPDA are giving us certificates, the Hacking involves so much reading and downloading lol,im too lazy to do it when theres easier alternatives.

Bangkok is absolutely massive, Jozi pales considerably in comparison. The place is hot, humid and it smells different to anything my nostrils have ever come across.
Went to a massive shopping mall called Future Park this evening, lots of cellphone stores but very few bargains to be had.
Already got a local sim, since I'm here for three weeks. Got data activated, it works but the downside is that unlike most networks, this one chargers per minute online...not data downloaded.

Posted by HOBBS
Per minute.thats hilarious.guess we wont be hearing much from u hey brix.lol its those bankokians.they only bath once a month cause they get charged per second with hotwater coming out the tap.lol and stay away from the the bangkok ladies of the night.you dont want to catch anything horrid.lol

Posted by amawanqa
Cool brixster. Glad you're managing to get around OK there. Our neighbour's wife is from Thailand. If you're able to get to Phuket, it's apparently really worthwhile.
Great news that you've got data etc all sorted already(albeit per minute billing...eish!).
Keep us posted re The Adventures of Da Brixsta.

@ Kryptik:
We've yet to see what impact the strike yields, when the parties concerned meet up. Ya, power to the NUTs indeed, LOL.

Makes me think of that movie 'Full Metal Jacket', with that 'Nam prossie, "Me so hoorrrny. Me love you looong time." LOL.
Actually, they've made that into a rap song quite recently by 2 Live Crew. It featured in a recent movie too, but it's completely slipped my mind as to which one..

yeah the service providers must get there act together, iv been waiting a 2 weeks for the n81. but i heard the 1 catch had problems,
@gucci. no dude. i dnt hve 3g a barely get edge at my place. im to lazy 2 get certificates. lol. so hacking my phone is my best option. i foot really understand that rom patching. so i wont give that a try.

Posted by HOBBS
Ive lost interest in the whole hacking my phone business.Realised Im quite happy with it the way it is.I've read of two people who have bricked a M600 and a P990 after installing the Walkman 3.0 player.Just too little RAM i suppose to handle that beast.
News update on my upgrade Gucci. The Nokia E90 is within my sights and a very high possibility bro.My boss has given me an incentive that if I work my ass off and finish this massive job we have at the moment in 1 month instead of 2, she will dangle 3 grand in my face as a carrot. That means all I have to do is save plus minus 2 grand next month and my pay-in is sorted.
Thats what I mean by creating plan B's Kyle. There is always a way.And I'll make sure (if i've covered all the pay-in logistics) that the day my upgrade is due,I'll walk in on that day and walk out with my phone, unlike some people I know.lol

Posted by GUCCI.011
Hobbs
Thats great news boet! wish i had a boss like that lol!
The E90 is definetly worth every cent of that pay-in. . . .okay maybe not but still its the King of all Communicators!
Does this mean we going to see less of the Hobbster until you've finish the job?
Brix
Thats great, good to hear you've already settled in, arent there any networks that charge on Data instead of per minute?

2 Live Crew! Can't remember when last i heard that name... i used to have all their music, years back, until my car was stolen, along with all my discs.

LMAO Hobbs, you're making Bangkok sound like Zim! Speaking of which, there's a new Barbie on the market. She's called Zimbarbie : has no shoes, no makeup, no clothes, no food, no house nor farm, BUT she does come with one handy accessory, i.e. a cow named Moogabi

LMAO! What other accessories (each sold separately, of course) can be bought for ZimBarbie?
What about distinctive 'Uncle Bob' glasses for that authentic, patriotic and sensible look?
A Great Britain holiday guide with Zimbarbie travel accessories?
The all-new ZANU-PF Poll-Counting maths game, for Zimbarbie to play with all her friends, including her rather quiet neighbour Barbeki? LOL.

There must be more...

@GUCCI: When I landed at the airport yesterday morning(local time) the first sim card they gave me was for the AIS network- Thailand's largest.

For my course, I'm currently staying at the Asian Institute of Technology which is situated right outside of Bangkok but entrance into the metropolis is rather easy through the excellent bus system.

As expected, very few people speak or comprehend English and often I have to use sign language to get my point across to shop assistants.

Thought I'd go shopping for some clothes but I was shocked at all the fake brand name goods being sold in my favourite mall...this also included computer software and music.

I have to get to bed, I have an early meeting in the morning.
