@ Hobbster,
Ya I do kinda miss the late night bikes n' stuff ramblings.
He was always eager to find out about an area that I'm fairly well-versed in, and the banter certainly kept this forum ticking over during the wee hours.
It could be argued that perhaps I should've perhaps started a separate thread in the non-mobile discussion, but I tried to keep it as relevant to cellphones as I could (and therefore posted them in here too), with all the pics being taken with cellphones, and only cellphones, for example.
There's plenty other 2-wheeled forums out there, but I can't commit to another site due to time constraints, so the bike cellphone pics n' retort was/is a way to bridge 2 passions of mine, well to an extent anyway.

Hey Wangs, you can ramble on about bikes in here as much as you like. This is, after all your thread (lol at Brix)

Just finished 30-odd consecutive parent interviews, and I'm knackered. Fortunately it all went well. A pity that some of the parents that one has to see most urgently don't always turn up...

Just came back from Monte, watchd MEET THE SPARTANS (rip off of the movie: 300),its funny but rather wait for it to come to dvd its nothing hilarious, if you have watched EPIC MOVIE and DATE MOVIE then expect something similar, must say Carmen Electra still looking fine as hell, how old is she? 35 or something?

Hey Gucci.I played on a N81 today and its one fine phone dude but with one big downside. Its build quality. It feels cheap.Hated the navigation pad.It would drive me nuts the way it responds to your press and the squeak, that was really annoying.Nothing wrong with the design. Its just the build quality.Wouldnt mind putting the N81's beating heart in my P990i's casing which on the other hand is a solidly built phone.Feels like a million bucks whereas the N81 feels like a couple hundred grand.

Thats good
Did you try the navi-wheel?
@ all
Il be a man the next time i post here hehe. . .

@da wanqsta: Thanks for the link to your Afrikaans post explaining JoJo's departure. I don't have much background into the situation to give an honest opinion. The only place I saw him post was here and in the General forums.
@GUCCI: You should've asked for a refund...these spoof movies are never quite good with the exception perhaps of the Scary Movie franchise.
I watched Atonement this evening, quite brilliant I'd say. If you're down with anything from the 1930s, except for the Depression, this is quite a good movie.

Interesting architecture. Came out OK, considering that I accidentally took these in macro mode...

The new LG Venus, with its (customisable) LCD touch-keypad shortcuts on the front (separate to the main display), is already on sale at CPW here, for £199.95 (approx R2800).
http://shop.carphonewarehouse.com/pay-as-you-go/lg/venus-black/
LOL, you just know that the price is gonna drop dramatically over the next month ot two, particularly if it's a LG, Motorola or Samsung handset.

Hello Dr.Thug
Posted by dr_thug
Here scorpio is a rage...its cheap, looks good..and pure value for money..kind of a hooligan vehicle..to scare the little car owners.
Even though am a patriot,i am skeptic when it comes to Indian made vehicles...scorpio,people say "it behaves like a skateboard"...handling at high speed is not very confidence inducing...but now the new scorpio(tweaked by European engineers -- don't think its launched there yet) comes with a lighter better engine which people say is far better
@kryptic,book a test drive..and tell me what u think of that Indian vehicle.
tata cars have crap engine...but i saw the all new indica and sumo...looks impressive..and they come fitted with fiat engines. Finally i have a little respect for them.
Hope tatas learn something from their new toys - land rover and jaguar
Posted by Janbobejan
@Dr- I am not so sure I would like to drive a Scorpio, even if tweaked by whoever. Imho that car needs more than a tweak to pass Janbobejan's quality control
On another note - what do you chaps think about the new, brilliant idea ANC come up with - Disband the Scorpions - Mind you, I eat them for breakfast too
Posted by GUCCI.011
Im not a huge fan of Tata or Mahindra but yep they are selling well here, something that im sure is going to do well here next year is that Tata Nano or whatever they call it, apparently its a student car, aimed at students in 1st year university who just need to get around.
Posted by dr_thug
@Janbobejan
Lol,yeah...that car needs more than a tweak to meet my standard too.And yeah it was developed for 3rd world countries...so maybe thats why its bad. They also sell it in some european countries...but am sure its a failure there.I heard that they are making a suv for the "developed" countries to be launched in 2010.
@gucci,i maybe joining for post-grad soon,so was looking for a use and throw car myself lol...
for SA's high vehicle stealing crimes, dirt cheap nano maybe perfect answer
Posted by Janbobejan
Yeah, sad but thru - ask 'Brix' all about it. I remember 15+ years ago I used to install home alarms in 'up market' houses in Sheshego. (Location close to Pietersburg or whatever is called today). It was all 'Klingon' territory and my vehicle was so many times broken into (while I was in the house busy working), that I decided to 'electrify' it. And yes it worked like a charm, until one day I shocked myself (the remote's battery was flat and did not switch off the alarm/immobilizer/ shocker unit and I also got careless about checking it). Although I had shoes with thick soles, my right arm was lame for hours. I shudder to think what someone without shoes must have gone thru. Needless to say, I removed the system the very next day, but things got so much for the worse now, I am thinking to build another one, although my wife and kids won't agree for obvious reasons
Posted by Kryptik
roflmao Jan, i can only imagine what it felt like when you had that "shocking" experience! LOL, if you rigged your car that way now i'm certain that your family would be performing a 010 or 092 on you
Posted by dr_thug
OMG
Posted by HOBBS
You are extreme Mr Jan Bobejan.Says to his daughter "Sweety, wont you just go fetch Daddy's phone,Daddy left it in the car." forgets about shock device.Brrrrrrr lol
About disbanding the Scorpions,I think it stinks of something. Not quite to sure what at the present moment but theres something dodgy going down.

@dr_thug: Tata, great Indian company unfortunately I can't see myself plucking up the courage to buy one of their cars. Whenever I see the Indica on the road I just shake my head. It looks like a death trap and cheap. The Scorpio looks ok, I've seen a lot of them on the road but I doubt anyone bought them for the resale value.
@JC08: Maybe its just a clash of cultures but most people, including myself, didn't know what JoJo was on about. You first had to decipher his weird sentences(mixed Caps) and then he'd go postal on the smilies. Most of the time I'd see his posts I'd just skip past.
Posted by amawanqa
It had little to do with any culture-related misunderstandings IMHO. There are many other esato users from Jojo's homeland who post in a more 'regular', universal fashion.
Jojo's style, ramblings and mannerisms could, posssibly, best be described as 'unique'.
That link to the 'Where's Jojo' thread gola discovered was no surprise. Without trying to sound like some third-rate/poor man's Nostradamus, all 3 things I predicted would happen (which were so obvious to predict anyway), in that Afrikaans post of mine, came to fruition:
1. a 'Where's Jojo' thread started.
2. him being scorned at length in that particular thread by the usual crowd
3. the thread getting locked just as gola makes a post that goes against the grain of the usual anti-jojo lobby.
Jojo being quite 'different' or notorious for his wacky posting is one thing. Jojo getting into a bit of kak and scorn over the years as he sought the attention of fairer sex posters etc another, and so on.
Now my retort here sounds nothing short of rampant defensiveness.
And nope, it couldn't be based on something as shallow as a knee-jerk reaction in me missing the regular late night bike n' pic talk.
As I made mention in that post as well, he 'towed the line' in our thread, even if it was in his own inimitable way.
As I also made mention before, his contributions to this thread were very much appreciated by me, even if it was somewhat off the beaten track on most occasions.
A certain piece of Holy Writ comes to mind for those happy to see him go down/ leave esato; which contain the words 'log', 'eye' and 'splinter'...
@ Janbobejan,
Eish, I hope no dogs lifted a leg on your car, or I'll have the SPCA after you, LOL.

I agree with Brix. For me it was hard to understand Jojo at 1st but after we chatted via PM a few times twas a lot easier to get what he said and why he was like that. He a realy oak i must say its a shame people just didn't get him.
I can see you realy aint impressed about how they were to him, neither was i but go to remember its a Web forum with people from diff parts of the globe so they may see things in a totaly different way to what we see.

Check it out, peeps.
Taken in broad daylight, on an absolutely clear Winter's day, and through a telescope's aperture.
The Moon was particularly visible, so my mate Dale took out his telescope, the same one I used to take the other Moon pic with the N73 last year during the lunar Eclipse.
It must've taken ten-odd attempts with the
P1i in macro mode to get this shot, also by dumbing down the light setting so that the reflecting glare didn't cause just a glowing white ball with no detail.
Not too shabby:

Thanks, guys. Ya, I've now uploaded it in the esato photo album, where it displays the phone model, ISO setting etc etc.
http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/viewphotos.php?pid=9893
@ Hobbster,
Yup, that's the best that we could focus in on; it's a fairly basic telescope, so I was quite happy what it was able to pick up.
This is another through-the-telescope-aperture
P1i shot of the Moon:
A bit darker and slightly less detailed than the previous one, but still not too shabby for what it is, IMO.

Hi hi.
I'm not from South Africa, nor have I been there. But I'd love to visit.
In regards to the Jojo thread, I do believe people were just joking. Well I hope they were, I certainly was. Jojo is a good guy and I certainly hope he hasn't left Esato for good. If anyone there was properly trying to insult him, then I hope they get what's coming. I just wanted to say I'm definitely NOT anti-Jojo and I was simply joking around.
Cheers guys!
Posted by amawanqa
Hi M-O, and welcome to the SA thread.
You're the second Kiwi to visit us (after carkitter), and it's great having some more Southern Hemisphere esato members around here.
M-O, yeah I think it's safe to say that we all know you weren't in particular. You've become quite a prominent and valued member and contributor on esato and there's never been any deliberate malice from you directed at any member.
Having a bit of a joke at his style of posting etc was all in good humour; I even had a smile, but it's some of the others in there that have repeatedly knocked and derided him through the years, specifically creating threads calling for him to be banned etc.
I also don't want this to become an all-out pro-Jojo thread which may lead to further friction between various parties (and would be detrimental to this thread) as I do not pretend to know all the facts and therefore can only go by what I know to be true.
To that extent, I feel we have said what was needed to, from our perspective, and hopefully we'll leave it at that.
Totally off-topic, that V630i pic of yours, of the 'Doubtful Sound', is keeewwwl!
Wow, the natural beauty of that area looks stunning.
