has anyone heard any news about the w960i coming to SA? i mean,it's been so long and this is just not right

What's with all the Jojo-bashing? He may be a somewhat 'unique' character and yes, there's lots of forum history about him on esato for various reasons, both in other regional threads and general forums over the years for instance, but dang, are any of us without fault/s, even if ours aren't perhaps as transparent as his?
So far, he's 'towed the line' in here, albeit in his somewhat inimitable way.

Anywayz, back to the phone stuff.

The 16GB iPhone is now on sale here, from O2. £60 (approx R840) more than the 8GB offering.

http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphonekeyfeatures

@ Hobbster,
Eish boet, you've stirred some nostalgia there.
I've got a fair bit of DM classics on the PC. Policy Of truth and Shake The Disease are my 2 DM faves. Ya, David Gahan and the boys sure rocked.

A-Ha, well that's another band that was big during my teens. Was never a big fan of theirs, but wow, their 'Take On Me' music video was such a ground-breaking piece of filming.

Sigh, the 80's.
Fine Young Cannibals, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Genesis, the early OMD stuff (not the plastic kak they produced later), Erasure, Queen, INXS, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, ska stuff like Madness etc etc. Thank goodness U2 came on the scene too..

@ Jojo,
Will post some more P1i pics taken at the bike show in the other thread later tonight.

Im loving t9 predictive text at the moment.im getting really awesome with it even in flip open mode where you dont really need it because of the qwerty but if you do want to use it mastering the left and right keys next to the spacebar and the ok button. Also handwriting recognition is pretty nifty and damn accurate.Once you get that bottom middle top system going it not to slow either. And learn all the gestures and the variety of certain letters, symbols numbers.Just trying to make the most out of this baby when it comes to texting.Jojo, dont change anything about the way you post. Its colourful.Imaginative and free flowing. Most of us posters here are just damn boring myself included. To westernised.Always watching our p's and q's and editing before we submit our posts.Wish we could all sometimes just let rip and freeflow.Let our thoughts runs wild.Even if at times it might be non sensical to other posters but at least we exposed a part of ourselves that is slightly 'out there' cause essentially we all are a bit wack in some way or other.blame t9 for all this mumbo jumbo.lol

Posted by amawanqa
@ Jojo,

Hard rock in the 80's, but not 80's metal...oh no. That changed largely when I was exposed to Metallica's iconic 'black' album in the early '90's.

Posted by HOBBS
Ok jojo.when i was younger i used to fancy Nirvana,Guns n nice Roses and lets say The Pixies....and The Cure....Sisters of Mercy...and The Cranberries...U2,GreendayDepeche Mode,The Offspring,Metallica ....You see Jojo if I start I cant stop.I love music. The list is endless

@pop - I was wondering why the group: KISS (Knights In Service of Satan) was NOT included in your short-list Remember, Gene Sim(m)ons having the loooongest TONGUE of them all !

Thats a pity Jojo.Dont worry,Wanga will send you a tune of theirs called Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Posted by amawanqa
Yeah, off with his head! LOL.

Posted by amawanqa
@ Hobbster,
LOL, I'm not always that 'diss'-missive (sic) of trance, drum n' bass etc.

However, the closest I've got to anything like that on my PC is probably The Chemical Brothers, a few Moby tracks, The Prodigy etc.

LOL, yeah each to their own. I'm a big respecter of that actually. Had to be all these years, when one was easily considered (in SA) offspring of The Dark Lord if there was as much as a smidgeon of double bass or driving guitars etc. Kinda like when we got into the DJ's area at a 'sokkie' at Teachers' College in PE back in '90, and put on AC-DC's Thunderstruck...

About Smells Like Teen Spirit, have you heard Weird Al Yankovic's parody of it, called 'Smells Like Nirvana'? Excellent!!

@ Jojo,
Never was a KISS fan at all. Yup, who could forget Gene's tongue though. Enjoyed their 'Crazy Crazy Nights' song back then, but that's it.

@ Hobbster,
G'night boet; don't think I'll be burning the midnight oil tonight, as I'm really tired... time to hit the sack too, methinks.

Speaking of Midnight Oil, now there was another late '80's (Aussie) rock band worth remembering... sigh, a sentimental wanqa I be.

Howzit going boys, are we all well? Sorry for being so quiet, i'm working my butt off over here. It's that time of the year when everything at work seems to be happening all at once- sport, work, and of course the endless meetings. The Management Team (Board Of Guvs in Wanqa's lingo) meetings are usually the worst, endless pontificating and blathering on and on about the most mundane of issues.

Tell me, the Walkman headphones... my neighbour's son has a set, but they're rather on the short side. Is there any way to extend the length? If there is, do you perhaps know the name of the relevant part? The local cellshops don't seem to know what the lad is talking about.

Posted by HOBBS
I dont know about any part you can get to extend the length of your headphones.my suggestion, buy another set of headphones that are longer lol Do you coach any sport Kryps?

Posted by Kryptik
That was my suggestion as well, boet, i'm certain that there are SE headphones of greater length. I love the sound quality which they deliver, by far the best of any headphones i've tried.

WRT coaching, yebo boet, field events like javelin, shot putt, etc. as well as swimming.

Posted by HOBBS
Cool kryps-can picture you in your little athletics shorts and reeboks screaming at everyone to push harder, throw further, jump longer, swim faster, jump higher, pull harder... Lol

Posted by HOBBS
.... And them all looking at your beer boep and saying 'yeah right' lol

Posted by Kryptik
roflmao, i had to work pretty damned hard to earn this boep! Maaaaany years of being a stalwart member of the Trencherman's Club Thank goodness that i have one of those silver whistles, it works soooo well to get the kids in line! Tell me Hobbs, are you originally from Cape Town?

Posted by HOBBS
As a matter of fact i am Kryps.Brought up in newlands, just up the road from the cricket and rugby stadium.lovely suburb-would love to buy something here in my hometown but everything is in the millions if you want a house and a couple of hundred thousand if you looking for am apartment. Its a very sad affair.how is this for insane. My grandfather bought his house in 1967 in newlands for R7000 and he can sell it now for a whopping 2.4 million.Insane if you Ask me.property prices here are crazy.God i love T9.every post becomes a story of sorts.

I think my Nokia E90 dream is dead unless I can find a sponsor (JK are you game dude) Walked into the new Vodacom shop in Cavindish (very nice indeed, great customer service, very friendly staff and very spacious and well laid out with glass displays with all the different brands, leather couches and coffee tables) And great location-amongst 3 major banking institutions and ATM machines lol Enquired about my upgrade and asked for two extreme packages just to get a rough idea what monster Im dealing with.1,it doesnt come free on any package.2.High end package deal-Talk 500 at 800 per month for 24 months with a pay-in of R2500.00.Wow.Think that was shocking. The contract of my choice is always the Top Up 135.(Lame,but thats all I really need) That is 135 per month for 24 months with a payin of wait for it........wait for it.............R6820.00 CARDIAC ARREST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news is they are getting the W960i very soon and I think if I cant get the Nokia E90 Im going to stick with UIQ3 and Sony Ericsson and get that.Unless in the coming months a upgrade to the Nokia E61i appears on the scene and is affordable.Looked at the TYTNII but thats pretty much in the same leaque cost wise as the E90.And I like BULKY and the TYTN II is anything but that. Wanga send me some free pounds in the post. "I HAVE A DREAM"

The housing situation is crazy indeed mate, and it isn't becoming any cheaper. The house which we bought 11 years ago for R105k was sold for just over R600k the other day. Understandable if it was a big old mansion, but R600k for an open-plan 65sq.metre place is madness. Newlands is really such a beautiful suburb, i spent some time there the last time i was in Cape Town. Got lost trying to find a street in Rondebosch, somehow ended up driving about in Claremont and Newlands.

Everyone on MTN pay-as-you-go just punch in *135# to get more information about the MTN Zone call discounts:-) I had mistakenly thought the special was over but according to a press release MTN only properly launched it this week.

The Nokia N82 now comes in black, and Wanqa likes:

Posted by brix25
@da wanqsta: No new features just a new shell.

Posted by amawanqa
@ da brixsta,

Yeah, it'd be at least a few months if they were to launch any upgraded model, as they did with the N95, E61, 9300, 6230, 8910, 3510, 9210, 7250...etc etc over the past 6 or 7 years.

It was no surprise then that it was presented with just a darker hue of the current N82, due to the still very recent release.

Still, I think it looks quite cool. Great specs too. Had a brief fiddle with the standard silver one at CPW today. It's physically bigger than I imagined, with more girth than expected as well. Gucci will like...

Matric is great hey, everyday i wake up and can't beleave ive made it to the final year of school a lot of work though.
Shame man, would have been great if you were able to get a E90, but R6820 is not worth it, could get a TyTN-1 or a HTC S710 VOX for that im sure.
Im also looking at my options for when i upgrade, the N95-8GB and N82-Black look good, and if i want a HTC TyTN-II il have to pay in R2800, so scratch that! July is far away though so for now the N81 is still great!
@ Wanqa
ME LIKEY!! N82-Black, potentialy GUCCI's Next Episode hehe. . . .

Anyone caught a glimpse of the new Moto Z12? UIQ, 5mp camera and touch controls. Been reading about it on some gadget blogs but thus far no sighting.

Posted by amawanqa
Yeah, I saw an article on the Oz gizmodo site and a link somewhere on esato today.
I really hope it materialises; it would be a huge leap forward for them and I actually hope they pull it off. Despite the current financial clouds looming...

Me thinks the same way.i have one ball in the Finnish Queens mouth and the other ball in the Queen of UIQ.lol Windows Mobile, nah, when I played around on a phone (cant remember the brand) running WM5 I didnt fancy the experience very much.GO Motorola! Its quite funny how you slag them off but as soon as you are aware that they are in trouble you cheer them on.I would prefer Samsung to be the one drowning.

Posted by brix25
@HOBBS: I'd also prefer that it was Samsung drowning but that is unlikely to happen. Like Blokia they've got a gazillion models out and I can't tell one from the other.
@amawanqa: Have you seen those new mock-ups on the Giz of SE's new phones expected to be announced next week 3GSM in Barcelona. They seem too good to be true- with a week to go at least they should've had spyshots.
