@ Hobbster,
Ya, but it'll be a very low spec phone that they'll give with that rate, which is fine as I'm happy with what I have at the mo.
However, there's an increasing number of contract 'SIM-only' options out now by Orange, T-Mobile and O2. You get NO phone, but you'll get plenty minutes, sms's etc for very little dosh, and you can opt out at any time with 1 month's notice. For example, if you pay £15 (approx R210) a month with Orange SIM-only, you'll get 225 minutes, 100 sms's and free unlimited evening and weekend landline calls!!
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/paymsim
This would suit many people here, as many new phones are pretty affordable to say the least, thus people upgrade on their own accord, often before the contract is up, be it a 12 month or 18 month one.
I find many things here, not just phones, far more dispensible.
Decisions, decisions....

A typically gloomy, overcast Winter's day over the local park.
To be fair, it was clear blue skies for most of the morning.

On 'The Tube' tonight. This coach will look a lot different in the morning on the way into work. We'll be using The Underground to get to and from work until we get the car back towards the end of the week.

Part of the Vincent Wanq Gogh art collection, (or should it be Wanqangelo, or Leonardo DaWanqa?) from his
P1issed series, also taken tonight with the P1i. Should make millions with these at the Tate Modern Gallery...or Grahamstown Festival:

Ya Gucci, I guess I'll have to be a lot more vigilant when I'm in Jozi etc in 8 months' time. BTW, my one mate there in Jozi has that funny bleepy police squark that you here on their radios, plus a short garbled message before you here the sound again, as his ringtone. So when his phone rings, it kinda appears asif he's an under-cover police officer...that then answers his phone.

The Samsung Giorgio Armani phone is now on sale at the UK's CPW, a lot cheaper than Expansys but still more expensive than a
W960i and only £20 cheaper than a N82 http://shop.carphonewarehouse.com/pay-as-you-go/samsung/armani/

That's it, Day One is drawing to a close. Spent most of the time nicking desks from other classrooms (end of last year, while i was attending to funerals, the buggers thoughtfully removed ALL my desks), then had to clear out a storeroom and check the stationery on hand. Imagine lifting and carrying 200 boxes of 2- and 3-quire books from the storeroom into the passage, before clearing out loads and loads of assorted papers, pens and pencils, chalk, ink, pots of poster paint, etc ... i look like i crawled out of a dumpster! Just need to make it through the obligatory meeting now, then i'm home clear.
Everything going ok there, Hobbs?

Geez man these power cuts are starting to get into everyones nerve around nelspruit.everday power cuts.I wonder how long this gonna take.greetings to all from Nelspruit.

I just woke up from a 2 and a half hour ppower cut... and i mean like, i cant work if i dont have power
Posted by JC08
@ All S-A living guys, we're quite lucky here in Vuilbijl aka Vanderbijlpark, we have very little power-cuts as the power station is quite close to us....
Posted by GUCCI.011
Lol same here, in the Dainfern area we aint had a power cut since November, but the rest of Fourways and Lonehill are.
I'd hate to live in Kayalami a few friends who live there have been complaining about power cuts sometimes 3times a week!

I strongly feel Eskom need to get up & do something about all this,it's not good to our economy, really this is starting to get bad.

We had a 2hr load shedding in Newlands.Kept on wanting to make some coffee and then realised you cant without electricity. Its hilarious.
@Kryps,I had a great day.Its been really productive.Sounds like your day was very physically demanding.Good for 'load shedding' all the 'fat' you've accumelated over the holidays I say lol
Scorcher in CT today.Was lovely.
Posted by Kryptik
eish, load-shedding occurred here as well in some suburbs. It's going to be a long hot summer, boys... no aircons or fans... Tell me, are any of you into sushi? My buddy just got back from a week in the Paternoster area, and he's discovered that raw fish is actually quite tasty. So tonight he and the family came over, and we spent an entertaining hour watching him concoct the most beautiful arrangements... which tasted even better than they looked! I only realized afterwards that i should've taken some pix. Going to try and talk him into doing it again over the weekend
Posted by jmash
@da Krypsta
Hey bro,One part of me would like to try it & the other one keeps on saying, hey man it's raw fish!I don't know man, maybe someday I will.

Sushi.Love sushi.
Talking about Paternosta, when I was a little boy we used to go camping in Paternosta. My uncle used to take nets with and we used to go fishing for crayfish.Back then the laws werent so strict or non-existent,not like they are today. We used to throw in a net, wait a couple of minutes and then pull it up and the net used to be full of crayfish. You try do that today,1,you get busted and heavily fined and 2,your net will most probably come up empty cause the ocean has been raped.lol
At one stage as a kid if you offered me a crayfish I would have vehemently refused.Ate so much of that stuff when I was young. Now on the other hand, if you offer me one, it will be eaten before you can say, would you like a......
Sushi is so yummy Kryps.Try and eat it at least a couple times a month. Its really good for you.

The saddest thing about the power cuts is that Eskom knew that this was going to happen, back in the early '90's already. Proposals were put forward to counter this back then with a range of power stations to be approved, but let's just say that there's a lot that the big-wigs in power back then and now have to answer for...
@ Hobbster and The Kryptik One,
Glad you guys made it through the first day back at work.
@ JC,
LOL, I just experimented with the settings and arm movements along the road as we were walking back to the house.

The worst of all is, that they closed the bloem powerstation in november, BUT we have a powert shortage... if we have a power shortage, why are they closing power stations?

HEY EVERYONE! ! !
hope everyone has been well once again...
my phone finally came from vodacare yesterday.yes it's working, but it seems like the technician who was working on it doesn't have any experience on w900is what so ever.only realized later on that he made so many flaws:i can't feel the volume buttons when i press them, but they work, same goes with my up/left/ dpad buttons.the transparent plastic thingy that covers the indicator light is also gone and my memory card doesn't want to eject out 'cos the the cover wasn't returned properly.what can i say,it's about time i upgraded...any news about when the w960i will come to SA yet?
other then that i'm still good
Posted by GUCCI.011
NOOOO. . . . .back to school tomorrow
@ Gola
Glad to have you back boet! Sorry to hear that bro. Hey did you take your W900 to Vodacare Fourways Mall? Cause i remember the technician had f'd up my W900 in a similar way, when he gave me the phone i tried to turn it on to find a blank screen then i told and he took it back for another 30mins cause he hadnt done the flex cable properly THEN after getting the phone back i got home tried to put my memory card in only to find the mem card slot door not fittd in properly,i had to use a knife to fix that mess up took me over 1hour. . . .dam idiots.
Posted by Kryptik
lol Gucci, resistance is futile
Gola, you ought to go back to them and given them hell, even insist on a new phone. Don't be afraid to make some noise bro, even if they threaten to call security, lol. I still have an old FREE MANDELA NOW poster, it'll be my pleasure to Tippex his name out and change it to FREE GOLA NOW
Posted by HOBBS
Last day Gucman.Back to the books again tom.You doing matric right?

@ Kryptik
So true,thanx boet.
@ Hobbs
Yep Matric. . . .im a big boy now!!
Posted by gola
Lol GUCCI nah,i took mine to the one in kbly...hey,hows your 'next episode' doing?
@Kryptik
lmao,i think Mandela was a whole lot more deserving of that poster, but thanks for the proposal.i figured,i'll open and fix it where i can myself(yes,i have opened it before and would probably give that technician a run for his salary)besides i'll be upgrading soon to a k850i if the w960i won't be available in time...
Posted by GUCCI.011
@ Gola
Its doing well, not a single scratch, but the blog is slowly getting there.
Posted by HOBBS
If I took my phone in to technicians and it came back with minor problems I would throw my toys out my cot and cause a shitstorm.I would climb the ladder as high as I could go and tell them their technician is shite and needs to find another job and insist on my phone been fixed properly or outright replaced.A minor stratch would lead to the decapitation of that technician.lol When you consider how much you pay after 2 years with them its the least they can do to show you some respect and courtesy and do a thourough job been careful.Don't be a sucker. The reason why his incompetance continues is because he gets away with substandard repairs and no-one ever says anything in this country. Its a South African thing that needs to change. The customer is always right.Unless your claims are'nt justifiable and you making foo foo out of the whole affair lol

Think i spoke too soon, LoadShedding has hit us lol, my N81's battery is low so went to the drawer and pulled out the N80. One thing i miss in N81 that N80 has is the res 352x416 screen, although physicaly N80 screen is smaller (2.1inch) compared to N81 (2.4inch) the N80 has nearly double the pixels the N81 has in a smaller area, realy beautiful display VERY smooth. I wonder how beautiful the VGA (480x640) screen on the i-Mate JasJar must be. . . . .8-D
