Maybe it's their indirect attempt to save the environment by reducing exhaust emissions

Agh! That sux! It could be a combo of what you and Kryptik have said. Its the only form of rally i watch, otherwise i hardly watch the WRC.

Guys, i stumbled across an absolutely brilliant site. You know how sometimes you've an item you'd like to dispose of, but you know that somebody could probably use it, but you're not sure where to find that somebody? Well, there's a group called Freecycle who believe that, instead of dumping stuff, we can freecycle them, i.e. list them on a database where others who may need them can see what's available. The only condition is that you don't sell, only donate. In the same manner you can request items, should you so wish. Check out http://www.freecycle.org/group/ZA/ for a list of current South African groups.

Great site Kryps.Signed up with the YAHOOCape Town branch.Just waiting for the confirmation email to go further.Good one.Now thats sensible browsing instead of taking polls to see which way you swing.

Just tried the P.E. site, listed a PS2 dvd remote which has been sitting in a drawer feeling very sorry for itself. It found a new owner within the first 5 minutes!

let me put it this way : my nephew is crazy over the Coke Brrr advert, so i used Netfront on Text-Only mode to find the link (under 20kb to search), then had the site do the conversion. Once they emailed the link to me, i used Fget to download it, 2.28m in size.

I came close to realizing a boyhood dream today. One of my fantasies was to be airborne, without the complication of being strapped into the seat of a fighter jet...
So this afternoon i was helping my cuz and her hubby move furniture from the house to the garage. No problem, except that the sofa needed to get out the way it got in, i.e. via the balcony... LOL, we had it balanced on the edge of the balcony railing, securely tied, with Yours Truly as the anchor. Halfway through the process of lowering it, a strong wind happened to be in the neighbourhood. Hehehe, talk about clinging on for dear life! I lowered that puppy so fast whilst bracing myself against the railing, rope slithering through my hands and around my waist a tad faster than i would've liked. Got the sofa down safely, but eish, i came close to being Superman, albeit for a very short flight.
Posted by HOBBS
Cool kryps.Pity you didnt take off up onto the balcony. That would have been cool.Hope you didnt get any rope burns on your hands.Thats damn eina.
Posted by Kryptik
Luckily not hey, but my cuz's hubby het lekker geskrik, came close to having to change his underwear seeing that he was standing about 10metres beneath me on the ground playing catcher

Been a busy Wanqa today, as well as spending lotsa quality time with the mrs.
@ Hobbster,
That's one of Axl's 'better' numbers.
Hard to picture Gn'R without Slash and the boys in there, even though the song's got some distinctive Les Paul guitar riffs normally associated with the 'top-hatted one'. Shot for that, boet.
@ Jojo,
Find some interesting info in those links?

@pop - All of the LINKS that you are posting here (for ME) are ALL very IMPORTANT . . . even though I haven't READ a page of it . . . just yet
Posted by amawanqa
@ J-Man,
You mean the speed of the bike altered (i.e. derestricted to go above 300km/h), not just the speedometer...
Posted by *Jojo*
@pop - OK, just saw the 3rd LINK . . .
I never expected that those TRE device will look this simple matey
Very informative web-page pal. . . .
Posted by amawanqa
@ Jojo,
Taken from the first link I posted:
'New Top-Speed Derestrictor and Timing Retard Eliminator for Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5 05.
The plug ‘n play TRE overcomes the top speed limiter on GSXR1000 K5. It also provides much better part-throttle response and increased torque (with reduced on-off jerkiness) in the first 4 gears by bypassing separate retarded ignition maps which are designed to ‘soften’ the bike’s performance to avoid wheelies and wheelspin.
This unit tricks the bike's ECU into thinking it is still in 5th gear when you select 6th to avoid the speed limiter activating at 186MPH. Because of this the digital gear display will show '0' in neutral and '5' in all other gears.'
LOL, superbike hackers...

@pop - If so . . . then I guess they should make a FIX-speedos in all of the bikes @ 300 km/h, as that's the maxium allowed speed for it - right
It's past your BEDTIME now - Professor . . . 2 more days and you'll get to SEE your 2nd home ................................. SKOOL !
Posted by amawanqa
I think they still show off the extra km/h on the speedo's to indirectly 'advertise' what the bike is truly capable of, if it was derestricted, of course...
Posted by *Jojo*
@pop - Hackers indeed
I remember my classmate once told me that in his R1, the computer-box (if that's what it is called) will NOT give the rider the 3rd GEAR, UNLESS he has reached the required SPEED on the said - gear . . . is there any truth to this
Bike are really gettin' complicated by the year . . .
Posted by amawanqa
@ Jojo,
I don't know about the R1 having those limitations, mate. Both my TL1000S and ZX6RR are fuel-injected and there's no hassles selecting any gear at various revs. The Kwak in particular is a recent model too (2004).
The Hayabusa and ZX12R that I rode (both belonged to friends) in SA also had no such quirks either.
HOWEVER, on carburettor models, because the air is thinner at altitude (ie. mountains) compared to the denser air molecule concentrations found at sea level, one has to fiddle with the lean and rich mixture setting, if the bike is ridden in 2 very different altitudes.
The newer fuel-injected bikes should be able to automatically compensate with air pressure/density fluctuations to ensure proper fuelling etc.
Yeah, vehicle technology has come a long way...

So how'd things go when you spoke to the Ombudsman's office, Brix?
Posted by brix25
Didn't manage to get through to the ombudsman, spent most of the time dealing with the bank and the detective investigating my case. Spoke to a friend last night and he said his girlfriend's car had also been stolen...in the same area. This whole week has been an emotional rollercoaster.
Posted by Kryptik
Eish, hang in there mate, hopefully things will be sorted sooner than later, and you'll be mobile once more.

Glad you like the tune Wangster.Thats my best tune on the Chinese Democracy CD and pretty much the only one I listen to.Theres one more I might consider sending you called Madagascar (A kind of November Rain Ballad.) If you want that one let me know.
Eish Brix.Been busy hey bud.
Well lucky you Kryps. Its the story of my life not getting things (the Wangsta's xmas stocking package went awol remember)
What a lovely day in Cape Town today.Hey Wangs come over for a swim lol
Im just chilling today by the pool.Found a antique writing box in my grandfathers garage thats worth quite alot of money,so Im busy restoring it to its former glory. They dont make things like they use to.Its gorgeous.Going to make it beautiful (replace the mother-of-pearl inlays, replace some pieces that are missing and match it to the original wood, fix the hinges and then finish it off with 2 coats of shellac and give it a polish if need be) He going to be so chuffed.Properly restored you could sell it for a couple grand my boss says.(the junk that people leave lying around in their garages hey lol)
Posted by Kryptik
That's brilliant Hobbs, those writing boxes are scarce! I love antiques, really admire the craftsmanship which has gone into them. Plz post some pix of the restoration process, buddy

Ok Kryps.Converted the Steve Jobs Iphone Demo Prt 1 and the link was sent in about 20 minutes.Great link bud.Everyone must bookmark it.I have to admit after seeing it,as a multimedia device (music and video),it borders on spectacular.Love the way you scroll through the menu's on that phone.Maybe when it releases a more well rounded version I just might consider getting one.

@ Hobbster,
Thanks, I'd like to give that other Gn'R song a listen, boet.
Eish, the last time I worked with shellac was in woodwork in matric, I think.
