@Tahir: "This message was from a 6680"...

I don't believe it because this forum only recognises SE's and gives their model numbers...if indeed it was posted from a "6680" it would simply say "This message was posted from a Nokia"

You might fool those on wap cause they can't see that your post had been edited.

Brix why dont you comment on previous post about Vodacom.You are telling everyone about HSDPA and free computers Vodacom are going to give away which is 2 months old news.I posted it 2 months ago and everyone here told me i spoke crap including you.But today you mention it.See i dont talk crap.....................By the way the 6680 i used it today it is 100% better than the V800.The 6680 was branded.I have one you jealous and the network gave it to me with an 08299 number which means i dont pay for any phone bills like you.

This message was posted from a P900

LOL at the above comment, me jealous? You must be joking bro. Please give us all a review of your "6680" with some pictures. And I couldn't care about free calls on Vodacom, I happily pay for mine.

Posted by Tahir Ally
Brix i ment unlike you.You Pay for callsI dont

Posted by Tahir Ally
Vodacom also wants to become it owns ISP when it gives out its computer deals.The local ISP are ripping Adsl subscribers.Telkom will charge you R600 for Adsl plus you ISP will charge you R600 for Adsl.Lots of things are going to change when this pc deals starts.It should be in July/ Aug.I dont what the computer guys are going to do now.I fell sorry them

Tahir where exactly is your shop situated ? I might come to say 'hello'-that is if you want me to :-)

Posted by brix25
@mario2002: I don't think he quite wants us near his store.

But coming back to the comments about Vodacom's plan to become an ISP, I think for once it actaully would be something good as more people will be able to access the internet.

Telkom might move on to high-end services which will see the lower-end of the market being catered for by the likes of Vodacom and MTN...a good move IMO.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix I dont agree what you said that Telkom will be targeting higher end.Hello everything is getting mobile and who is cashing in BLING BLING ......mobile networks.Of the topic....Bill Gates recently said the best compact music player is a cellphone.I dont have to say any more...........Bye Bye Telkom

Posted by brix25
Right now a silent war is being waged between supporters of various technologies. The future is wireless, fixed line networks will be obsolete in 15 years- maybe even less.

Honestly though I can't wait for WiMax or whichever similiar technology which will make accessing the internet a breeze, hopefully Telkom won't charge won't be the only ones offering such a service.

Brix i want you to remember what i am going to say now but dont get shocked get HAPPY.Write IT down some where, maybe you will forget and you might of thought this will never happend in SA.This should be available in SA by Dec 05 or 2006.Remember what i said in past we are only seeing the light now.I am not a prophet.This is what 786KBR said a long time "Tahir is giving away to many trade secrets over here and if you went to Vodacoms CEO road show you know whats instore for you".But this might have nothing to do with that roadshow.Sorry for all the suspense.Are you ready.IN THE NEAR FUTURE MOBILE NETWORKS WILL HAVE.................on PHONES.REMEMBER I SAD IT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN DEC05 or EARLY NEXT YEAR.ITS BEING TESTED OVERSEAS AND ITS WORKING FINE.Sorry for suspense 2.ARE YOU READY THIS IS NOT CRAP.........CALL RATES @......... cents a ......... will be available via ...... on VODACOM,MTN,CELLC......''I edited this because i got a phone call from someone"

I save officially left vodacom for the time being, as i dont even have gprs access. This will only last as long as the upgrading they are doing lasts as i need gprs.

Posted by zani_003
Yeah vodacom and vodafone gprs settings r different. Vodafone is fast and free ! Vodacom settings r slow and u pay !

Posted by brix25
@bradboy: You mind posting then up in here.

Posted by Rhino8
I think the vodafone settings are locked on voda life handsets only. I can get vodafone setting not the live ones tho

Well, the subject in this link has indeed been tested/used in some places overseas. I have, so far, no personal experience with this IP service and the info won't be new to all of you, but I presume this is on its way to SA:
http://www.tech-faq.com/voip.shtml
Looking forward to getting more info about this in SA closer to December 05 or early 2006...?

Few weeks ago i mentioned a South African company will be launching Instant Messaging and everyone was saying they cant get it for free subs but here are the differences.SA IM will be launched via Vodacom.Its an exclusive for a short period.3 months free subs there after you pay R10 a month.THE MAIN 2 DIFFERENCES ARE:You can send it to any mobile number,email address and to any IM service.Where as the ones you get for free is not licenced and is restricted to only those people who are registerd and you have RESTRICTIONS and you have no local support.Cost per IM is between 1-5 cents to any phone,pc.AGAIN I WILL SAY NO RESTRICTIONS........SA Instant will be launched soon.Watch this space.

Just thought id drop in and say a big "HI" to all the sa thread members

Posted by uthetha ituvi
Hi mrao, and welcome!
I'm picking up fragments of Gujerati, Panjabi, Bengali, Tamil and even your neighbouring country's Urdu where I work!
Not to mention developing a VERY strong liking for sweets and treats from the Asian sub-continent, like barfi, halva, laddoo, pakora, samosas, gulabjaman,etc. Forgive any spelling errors or mispronounciations!
It's great to see that the esato Indian and Asian sub-continent forums are so active and informative.
Would love to visit Mumbai sometime next year.

Posted by mrao
you got all of them right watch the sweets though..theyre guaranteed to make you put on tons of weight hope to see ya in bombay

Posted by mario2002
@Tahir Why on earth will someone pay R10/month to use IM ? Just buy a 'smart phone' and you have free Instant messaging with all the big boys out there (like Yahoo,Msn,Icq,Aol,Jabber,Irc) on pc and cell . One can send video and audio messages too ! For me PTT is a very nice feature.I am using all this from my old 7650 for about 2y now :-)

@ tahir

Am askin you as customeR care cant tell me.

Am having problems with gprs in general. On my voda sim i dont even have gprs signal. Data desk told me that they are upgrading the network, but could not tell me when this will be complete. I might stay on MTN gprs tho, i only realised a while ago, voda sim loads more data than MTN with the same activity online.

@tahir....Ever heard of Yamigo?

Posted by Rhino8
I dont use yamigo anymore. Just lost interest.

Posted by brix25
Check for one of free java IM apps for your K700. Yamigo ain't perfect but it suits me fine coz I'm not constantly chatting...it's just a cheaper way to send messages to friends instead of texting them.

Posted by uthetha ituvi
@ brix, kunjani?
Great anticipation before today's FA Cup Final?
There's a sea of red shirts all over here at the moment, either bearing team sponsorship by O2 or that other network, Vodafone...

Posted by Tahir Ally
@BRIX With the IM services you are using is not supported localy by any company and you can only send IM to those people who are clients.Where as the one thats going to be launched soon in SA you can send IM to IM clients,email address any cell number,just like and sms.The person who you are sending to dont have to be an IM client.In simple english IF I GIVE YOU MY PHONE NUMBER,YOU CANT SEND TO ME BUT THE LICENCED SA VERSION CAN.Thats THE MAIN DIFFERENCE

Posted by brix25
@utheta: I'm a bit anxious but find myself far from a tv. Will try and catch the second half.@Tahir: Have you ever used Yamigo?

Posted by Rhino8
@brix
@tahir

I still rather use a certain wap site that gives me free unlimited global sms, and free email, as i do at the moment.

I can decide to become a paying member for a pound a month and get more features, dont need to tho.

So if i got yer number or email i can contact you from there.

Just goes to show- there still are good sites out there, with good FREE features.

Posted by brix25
@utheta: I'm a bit anxious but find myself far from a tv. Will try and catch the second half.@Tahir: Have you ever used Yamigo?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ Rhino8.Vodacom told me there is huge roll out in Bloem for 3G.I am still waiting for the lists of sites you have no GPRS signal from you.Did you try turning your phone off/on...............@BRIX does YAMIGO allows you to send SMS VIA GPRS to any cellphone in SA.Person you send it to must not have any IM service.The SA version can.

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: Anyone can chat to me across four different IM clients. On MSN alone I've got more than 50 contacts and they can see whether I'm online. Hopefully the next version of Yamigo will support file exchange. Give Yamigo a try and maybe then we can talk.

Posted by Rhino8
@tahir

Why would i use an im site to send sms when i can send FREE INTERNATIONAL SMS from another site?

Anyhow, just phoned voda 155 for help with the problem, and they put me through to customer care. And yet again the person at customer care did not even know what am talkin about. Ffs.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix You dont understand simple english.You just posted you got 50 contacts on your Yamigo.But can you send a normal sms using YAMIGO to people you dont have on your contacts @ the cost of 1-5cents.The answer is NO.The IM thats going to launch in SA works the same as all the IM you mentioned but with more services because its licenced. YES you can add a list to those people who register and view if online or offline BUT it also sends sms to any cellphone @1-5 cents and the receiver sees it in their inbox on phone.......PUT any mobile number you want to SMS put it on the SA IM sms menu and not the normal IM menu than type your message and press ok.MESSAGE SENT.

Posted by brix25
LOL@Tahir. No mate you don't seem to understand basic English. Yamigo is not network dependent. I'll wait until Vodacom launch this IM service...coz u seem to be economical with the truth. How do you explain the fact branded phones don't have the My Friends option... If I can get it for free I ain't that's the POWER OF YAMIGO... Damn I sounded just like that puppet for Vodacom.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Rhino 8.You must log a fault with Vodacom Customer Care.You must tell the opperator the GPRS network is offline and would like the engineers to call you on that or ask them to make Andre Liberty to call you...........The sms i was talking about is from a cellphone.You dont have to go on a computer which cost you more than 5cents on dial up cost.What about you ISP monthly cost.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@BRIX The IM service that will be launched is not owned by Vodacom at all but they are getting exclusivity for a short period.Answer 1 QUESTION.Can YAMIGO send normal sms over GPRS to any phone even if it does not support JAVA..............................I will say it again THIS IS NOT A VODACOM PRODUCT BUT VODACOM WILL HAVE EXCLUSIVTY FOR A SHORT PERIOD

Posted by brix25
Sure feels good being a Gooner right now. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!

@ brix,
Man, would I like to be a fly on the wall in the ManUre dressing room right now.. 'Sir' Alex Ferguson's usual/typical pre-match psychological warfare in the press here over the past week has backfired in the best possible manner.
Oh, and congrats on purchasing ManUre this week, Malcolm Glazer...hope you enjoyed attending your first Pom football match today..you must be thrilled with your new team!
LOL!!! Being biased can be SO satisfying sometimes! Now, where's the ngqomboti...
I guess we'd better get back to cellphone stuff, before we get told to start a football forum elsewhere.
A fellow esato member in the UK contacted me this past week. He is selling brand new 6630's for £200! And yes, they are legit. I'm still not tempted, though.
Gee, I hope the N70 is launched before I fly back to SA in late July! Maybe wishful thinking, seeing that the 6680 has recently become available, but who knows.

Posted by brix25
I don't know how Manure managed to lose that game when they totally outplayed the Arsenal. £200 for the 6630 is bloody good, I'll pop into game 2morrow to enquire about the phone's price...right now it's an MTN exclusive AFAIK. The N-series phones won't be available before the year's end according to some reports.

@tahir

What i am talkin bout is a WAP SITE. once you got 5days online you get access to FREE GLOBAL SMS. If you bookmark the sms page and use that you can send FREE INTERNATIONAL SMS for 1-2cent. Trust me. Am using it at the moment AND I PAY NO SUBSCRIPTION. Only rule is the 5 days online on that site.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix Vodacom will not be keeping the 6630 because it does not have a built in video calling camera.The 6630 is not an MTN exclusive.The 6680 will be available to the public 2 weeks time.Dont waste you time @ GAME because they only sell Vodacom and Cell C.Even Cell C is not stocking the 6630

Posted by brix25
@tahir... My bad Game only sells Voda and Cell C. Will pop into MTN...they're selling it coz it's got EDGE.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix GAME IS NOT BAD.I am going to tell you a TRUE story and here it goes.When Vodacom and MTN started business.Game(MASSMART GROUP) went to MTN 1st to sell phones and contracts.MTN told MASSMART we do not want our customer going to a huge chain store like MAKRO,GAME,etc we want them to come directly to us.Massmart went to Vodacom and a deal was made to sell Vodacom products.......from that day till today the MASSMART group is VODACOMs highest connecting distribution point.I think that what made Vodacom.MTN LOST BIG TIME.Cell C had to pay Vodacom R60million rand for Massmart to sell CellC.

Posted by brix25
Damn just did a comparitive speed test and MTN beat Vodacom. My Vodacom GPRS is at 5.1kbit/s while my T68i on MTN connects at 9.9kbit/s... Come on Voda, if anyone is listening.
