The menu on a Z800 (V800>Z800) is much nicer, icons show the phone, and not so much red

Posted by brix25
@786KBR: Will Vodacare flash the V800 to a Z800?Always knew that branded phones would first be released and quite cheaper but with limits imposed to steer users to Vodafone Live. Anyone have a clue as to when we'll be seeing the 3230 released locally?

Posted by CodeMaster
I see it only has a 65,536 colour display, watsup with Nokia?

Posted by gilani
I use a 3200 cause its battery lasts longer on wap, and my k700 takes a battery dive on wap. Its also new-bought it last month, reallw nice 3D games

Nokia 3230 boasts Symbian.

Posted by uthetha ituvi
The 3230 has just dropped in price at mobilefun, from £239.95 to £224.95 sim-free. Oh, and surprise-surprise, the Nokia 6230i has dropped in price AGAIN this week, from the £214.95 I quoted previously to £209.95 sim-free this week. Not too much of a drop, but still another drop of about..R55? with the current exchange rate?, almost on a weekly basis at the moment. I wonder how long this weekly price drop trend will continue for, before the price begins to plateau.
Incidently, there seems to be a great deal at expansys in about 9 days, namely a sim-free Sendo X, WITH the Sendo X collapsable qwerty keyboard attachment, for £143.95! Smsing and creating posts/documents on a phone will be even quicker than smsing with the p900's stylus..well for me,anyway. I need to find a way to get more sim-free phones that are on special here into SA!

Have you guys seen this post by dirk27?

Using 'contact' ('sticky back' in the UK), he's made a home-made phone skin for his s700i! NOOOO!!Now as another poster on that thread has stated, what will this look like after a while, especially when dust inevitably gets under the layer.
Surely if one can buy a s700i or similar expensive phone, it would make sense to buy a quality case like Krusell or similar, as mentioned in the post. I have a Krusell cover for my p900 and what a quality accessory! Oh well, each to their own, I guess...but it's difficult to get over the fact that 'contact' has been used as a home-made phone skin, especially on a s700i.

Doom and gloom from Tahir as he predicts the total domination of Vodafone and their "adapt or die" attitude towards consumers. On a serious note I hope you don't speak for Vodacom cause you do them more harm than good with your statements on here. If someone wants to pay to have his phone flashed to it's original firmware, how could that be wrong?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix YOU are DOOM AND GLOOM.Look around my friend.Networks abroad are feelling the pinch and what are they doing. They are selling up and who is buying VODAFONE.Vodafone is the largest mobile network in world. That says it all.Doom and gloom is for you.Ever since Vodacom had branded handset. My branded sales are higher than non branded sales.I dont know what crap you talk about........Couple a months ago i posted on this site Vodacom will be giving Free pc /laptop.Everyone including you said i am talking shit.Visit www.adsl.co.za and see for your self what Vodacom is going to give free laptops/pc on contracts..........Super 3G will be here in 2007(Ericsson article). You said branded handset are not liked in UK.A recent survey was done in UK about 3G and 85% of the population did not know what 3G is.Does that tell you something. You also talk about RESTRICTIONS.Both BRANDED and NON BRANDED 3G phones have DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT(DRM).With DRM you are restricted to transfer content.

The SIM-FREE 3230 has dropped AGAIN in price this morning...now £214.95 at mobilefun. So it's dropped, in total, another £25 (about R280 with today's exchange rate?) in 1 week. (£10.00 this morning and £15 earlier this week.)
Sim-free... how are you!

If your 2G Vodacom phone displays "3G ENABLED" in your cell broadcast. It means you have 3G coverage.Good luck

Can't find the Prince of Persia:Warrior Within version for my precious...anyone has the game please could email it to me...craggybits@gmail.com

Did anyone see the NEW VODAFONE LIVE advert with DAVID BECKHAM.It is just has good as THE MIRACLES add but better because DAVID BECKHAM is in the add

Posted by uthetha ituvi
Better because Beckham is in the ad? Oh no,Tahir! LOL!
They used to have him all the time on the Vodafone ads here, now they have another dude promoting Vodafone's range of music downloads on Live! His hairstyle changes with all the different music genres playing in the ad.
However, if Vodafone wasn't bad enough, Beckham is now on all the bloody Gillette ads here too!
Aaaaarrrgh!!Overkill again.
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend if you are a Beckham fan, it's just that it really is TOO MUCH here...

Posted by mario2002
@Brix ,are you looking for the java version ?

Posted by brix25
@mario: Yep!

@Tahir: Here's an interesting article you might want to read http://www.marketingweb.co.za/marketing/439081.htm basically it says that MTN as a brand is more valued then Vodacom, would wonder why?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix:That article did not even mention the word VODACOM and it never mentioned how much both network brand worth.................WAKE UP or I think you need to buy some reading glasses.Vodacom SA brand is worth R10billion if you never new

Posted by Rhino8
Obviously, your a vodacom puppet. Believe everything they tell you. Brix only Stated wat was said in that aRticle. No need for you to go all offensive.

Posted by JLO
Do any of you guys know where I could get memory for a p910i here in Joburg?

Posted by brix25
@JLO: I think Vodaworld would be your best bet.

Posted by gilani
@ any1 with v800 .Can u send mp3 music from ur pc to the v800

Posted by JK
yip!!

Posted by brix25
Can those mp3's be used as ringtones?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@RHINO 8 Brix said in that article MTN brand is worth more than Vodacom and he wonders why.......BUT THAT ARTICLE DOES NOT EVEN MENTION WHICH BRAND IS WORTH MORE. BOTH BRIX AND YOU ARE IN THE SAME BOAT.BOTH OF YOU NEED TO WAKE UP OR NEED READING GLASSES

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: Just relax bro, no need to get your knickers in a twist. Read the article carefully nowhere did they say MTN was bigger than Vodacom just that the Y'ello brand is worth more. Even Standard Bank's brand is worth more than ABSA which is the biggest bank in SA.

Voda is worth more!!

MTN makes the same or a little more in terms of profits - make of that what you wish.

voda has more subscribers and more capital therefore making them the bigger and more powerfull.

and as for surveys 1-coke, 2-voda, 3-4?? cant remember, 5 mtn-with their yellow!!!

I wonder why voda doesnt make catchy ads like MTN??? i dont like mtn yet i find myself sayin 10/10 and singin those stupid songs and from just 1 ad!!!

Posted by brix25
MTN is profitable because they rip off other African subscribers...in Nigeria they still don't offer GPRS. Don't like the green and blue of Vodacom and MTN beats them when it comes to marketing their brand.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix and 786KBR MTN adds might look flashy but they never won awards for any adds.Where as Vodacom wins adds for every advert they make

Posted by gljackson
Hey Tahir, sorry to sound like a broken record, but have you heard anything else regarding the nokia 6680?

Posted by brix25
Went into a Vodacom dealer yesterday to enquire about when the K750 would be available and the woman behind the counter gave a confused look. What sort of training do these folks get?

Posted by gilani
I know a guy with a 6681, does it really hv a 1.2 mp camera in the front

Posted by Rhino8
Well i went into my local vodashop the other day and they did not even know what 3G is.

Posted by JK
THEY ARE not meant to know everything about cellphones!!! and they only get trained on what they have...if it wasnt for this forum i also wouldnt know what a k750 was!!

brix i know im always on your case but, just because u know sumtin doesnt mean sum1 else wu doesnt know is inferior!!!

if they dont know whats 3g they not really interested and there just there for pocket money... its not a carreer!!!!

Posted by uthetha ituvi
@ gilani,
All the specs for the 6681 and most other phones can be found at www.gsmarena.com. They state that the 6681 has a 1.3 megapixel camera. You can also check on Nokia's site.

Posted by CodeMaster
I agree with 786KBR, the SE K750 is an announced but un-released phone, unless you browse websites like Esato, you probably would not have heard of the phone. I bet most ppl at the SE shops would know though.

But I disagree that ppl working at Vodashops SHOULD atleast know what 3G is, Vodacom did launch a couple months ago, and IT IS a product they are selling.

Just my 2 cents worth

Posted by brix25
No, they should be informed about upcoming products. Anyone working for Vodacom, selling 3G products should know what they're talking about. It's called good service. Btw...anyone know if Vodacom supports streaming audio through GPRS?

Posted by JK
yes, what do you think watchin TV on your phone/ video telephony means???

oops ignore that.... i doubt it...

Anyone got a clue?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@BRIX streaming is only available via 3G.@Rhino 8 if you went to a Bloemfontien Vodashop i think i know why that person knew notting about 3G......Bloem only has 1 3G node and there is no plans to increase coverage yet or maybe that person might be a casual.

Posted by celltech
Tahir, sorry to burst your bubble, you dont need 3g to stream audio, I stream Virgin radio without any buffer by just using GPRS, give it a try and see for yourself.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Celltech Sorry for bursting your VIRGIN BUBBLE but why you did not post that VIRGIN is the 1st and only to stream radio on a mobile phone

Posted by uthetha ituvi
Tahir, his point remains that you don't need 3G to stream audio, whether Virgin are the first and only or not is immaterial to the fact that you can stream audio via GPRS as well.

Posted by celltech
@Tahir virgin is not the only one for streaming live audio I mentioned it because it's the best one I could find, you have internet make use of it and search there are a few other live audio streaming sites for mobiles......

Posted by brix25
@celltech: What phone are you using...if possible are there any settings needed to get the audio stream?

Posted by celltech
