Here's another one. favormark.com/musicvids .... Don't stress about the Russian all the video titles are in English...and no they're absolutely free apart from data charges.

Posted by brix25
No need for passwords... BTW what phone are you using?
@Tahir what does the 7610 go for?

@Brix the 7610 has been discontinued for a long time on Vodacom because its not popular. The phone that replaces it is 7260 which is not a bad phone. It retail about R2500

Posted by brix25
Not too impressed with the 7260... Then again I'm not a fan of clamshells. Still I'd like to know what the 7610 would go for...love the design.. Just interested not that I'm planning on ditching my precious.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix 7260 is not a clam

Posted by uthetha ituvi
@ brix,
the 7260 isn't a clamshell, but the 7270 is. You can get them new here for about £180 new, with a little haggling.
@ Tahir,
so the lesser-specced 7260, with its vga camera and lack of bluetooth, has more appeal than the 1 megapixel, bluetooth-equipped, expandable memory 7610?
I presume it is down to price and specific market demand, or did you also mean the 7270?

Posted by uthetha ituvi
Sorry, I meant the 7610 for about £180, not the 7270.
The 7260 goes for about £160 sim-free, and about £129 branded, at the moment.
Watch the prices drop dramatically on the websites I've mentioned on previous posts, in the coming months.

Posted by brix25
That's cool. If anyone has good links for mp4 music videos post then.

Posted by JK
PS not to sound like tahir but we not getting the nokia 6630, no1 knows why...

Posted by uthetha ituvi
Just my opinion, but perhaps Vodacom realised that the 6630 is a bit of a waste of time if it's a 3G handset without an integrated video calling camera on the front..surely the 6680, only a few months behind the 6630 but with the video calling camera, would make more sense to market. As I mentioned in a previous post regarding this, you CAN do video calling with the 6630 when using its stationary docking port, but what's the point if the 6680 has all this without the docking port video calling restrictions?
Fair enough, one can argue that not everyone would want video calling, more for data etc., but the fact remains the 6630 is more limited when it comes to video calling.
The 6680 should be out soon in SA...it's been out here in the UK for a few weeks now. It just seems a more sensible option. Now, how long before SA gets the N70?...

Posted by Tahir Ally
The reason Vodacom will not have the 6630 on its network is because it is not compatible on its network and it does not have a built in camera for video calls.Nokia 6680 will be available on Vodacom in May 05.

Posted by brix25
One thing I like about Nokia, although I'm not a user that in SA their models are available quite soon after their European launches. Wish SE would release their phones sooner in SA...as things stand we might be getting the K750 around July/Aug.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix i think you are wrong on the point you made about Nokia phones releases.Look at the Nokia 6260, 6630,9300,9500 which was available about 7 months ago but only available now in SA.There are only 2 manufactures i know that releases phones in SA a soon as they are releases. They are Samsung and Motorola

Posted by brix25
The 9500 was announced in Q3 last year and the phone was available in December in Europe, I speak under correction. Saw that the phone available locally in Jan- I speak under correction. Won't say anything about the other phones mentioned.

Posted by Tahir Ally
ALL I CAN SAY IS SAMSUNG AND MOTOROLA WILL BE THE NEXT LEADERS IN MOBILE PHONES.SEricsson is too slow in launching the worse thing that happend to Ericsson was Sony.Nokia can make shit and people will still buy them......but not for to long. The reason i say Samsung and Motorola will be leaders is because there have the smallest 3G phones.Samsung has a 3G phone that has a 4mega pixel camera.Samsung have 3G phones as small as the E330orE700.Motorola has 3G phoness has small as the v620................Samsung has a 2g phone that has a 16million colour display. This phone is about the same size as K700i.......Who has a 16mill colour display ONLY SAMSUNG.Nokia must go do what they know best MAKE MOTOR CAR TYRES

The 6630 is compatible on voda networks i even know 1 guy who has one!!!

Samsung is def catching up in terms of features, and for 3g where the cam is the main part of the phone..... Sam might just make a name for themselves!!! they the second best in sa, now already... i feel theyl be first by this time next year..... moto not many followers..

they got the features but people dont know about it, just like se k700...

besides people dont know alot about phones they know sam and nokia.. and you get some that take what they get!!!

pixels dont mean shit without decent resolution!!! how many 65000 colour screens look as good as a k700???!?!?!?!?

Posted by brix25
Samsung phones look nice and all but have quite a few limitations especially when it comes to transferring items either through BT or IR...unlike SE and Nokia which are fully compatible with each other. Have to agree with Kabir, the K700's display is one of the best around sure beats other phones in it's category.

Posted by uthetha ituvi
@ rhino8,
the one (Tahir) rightly said colours, the other one (me) incorrectly said pixels. I meant to say colours,as per Tahir's post. For what it's worth, the info is there for all to see at the website I stipulated earlier.

Posted by Tahir Ally
SonyEricsson K700i has the best display because it has a 1.3mega pixel camera. No other phone in its class has this.Take a picture on the K700i it will be the best if you compare them to its competitors

Posted by Rhino8
Ya, thats tRue, especially in good light conditions. The samsung cameras as really good tho- maybe the best.

@ brix i think.
Both pony and blokia got good bluetooth and ir transfer, but nokia still got some way to go. Sony use that feature in all their new Phones, from the t300 i think. If im not mistakin that was the 1st phone that could fully transfer stuff via ir. I might be wrong- but thats how i see it.

On another subject: anybody think there is a market for laptops with built in 3G data car

Posted by uthetha ituvi
@ Tahir,
hasn't the k700i got a VGA camera?

Posted by brix25
Me thinks he confused the S700i with the K700i...nowhere has the K700 a 1.3mp camera.

Posted by JK
TAHIR said twice that the k700 has a 1.3 meg cam!!! -WRONG
and the pic quality SUX compared to a samsung e700, e600 etc!!

whos Kabir???!?!??!?!?!?!?!

Does anyone know where the setting is in a P900/P910 to activate 'Own number sending'?

When my father phones me, it shows up as 'Private'. I would like to change it, but can't find the setting.

Tahir, maybe one for u too answer...

Posted by brix25
Maybe you can tell all of us what KBR means.

Posted by JK
Im asuming you white...

so how did you get that besides you even spelt the name kabir right>>>

its not by the way, just my number plate... well part of it!!!

Posted by brix25
Check the first couple of posts in thread and you'll see I'm not white...that's funny though, me being white.

Posted by uthetha ituvi
I know brix can speak for himself, but he has already mentioned that he is Xhosa on page 2 of this forum. Usaphila, brix?
@786KBR,
Is 786 part of your reg. number as well, or rather related to these 3 specific numbers' importance / significance in Islam?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Codemaster The reason why the caller id is with held on you dads phone. He is with MTN.All MTN numbers are blocked.SEricsson dont have a menu to turn it of or on.You have to dial *31* in front of number to show ID and to hide it you dial #31# and the number..............How is your V800.

Posted by brix25
@uthetha: Ndisaphila bra'wam... Right now I'm in Beaufort West covering a story...the place is shitty but GPRS reception is good.

Posted by Rhino8
1st im white. Anything wrong with it?

2nd- the k700i has got a megapixel cam. 960 X 1280 pixels. Thats a megapixel. Not a very good one, but none the less.

Posted by Tahir Ally
I am not bragging about VODAFONE LIVE! Nowdays i am getting more enquiries on Vodafone Live! than non branded handsets.Vodacom is doing well with LIVE! .Vodacom stuck Gold with LIVE!

Posted by mario2002
I somehow like the word 'stuck' . I think it describes the situation, albeit unintendet. Greetings from Jeffreysbay,Mario ;-)

Posted by Tahir Ally
Sorry i meant STRUCK GOLD

Posted by uthetha ituvi
@ rhino8,
1st: no, there really is nothing wrong with being white...hell, I'm white too!
2nd: a k700i has a VGA camera indeed, not a megapixel one. Check out Sony Ericsson's website yourself, or gsmarena. The camera is 640x480 pixels,
BUT the s700i has 1280x960, which does equate to a megapixel camera.

BLACK IS IN FASHION

Right now I'm frustrated. Since I'm in the Karoo for a day I thought I would be fancy and try to connect(laptop) to the internet via BT with my K700 serving as a modem... Easier said than done...tried for more than 30 mins and threw my hands up in frustration. The two devices are paired but somehow the laptop won't find the K700 as a modem.

I use a sony k700i and it has an extended camera mode with 1280 x 960 pixels. I use it alot to take pix with my phone and copy it to da pc via bluetooth. The pc confirms that its a 1280 x 960 pixel.

@BRIX dial 082155 for data support. Its for Vodacon customers only and its a FREE CALL from any Vodacom phone. Its a 24hrs call centre

Posted by brix25
@Rhino: It should be said, this was my first attempt trying connect to the internet via BT... I thought XP was supposed to eliminate these connectivity issues.

Tahir, let me tell you a little secret. VODACOM CUSTOMER CARE REPS DOESNT NO SHIT. Its very rare to get to talk to one that can really help you. The problem with Bri x aint the network, but the communication between devices.

Posted by brix25
Anyone around here using either an iBook or a PowerBook? Last night's episode has put me off connecting via BT for a while. Have to agree with Rhino, problem was not on with the network.
