Twin call is when you have 2 simcards with the same phone number but 1 phone has to be switched off for it to work.......The V800 is like the K700I with Vodafones menus + 3G

What do you guys think about the 3 new Blokia N series?
The N91 has a 4 gig HD, about 3000 songs!(Some serious competition for the w800i,and that keypad looks well thought-out.)Stainless steel finish.
I'm impressed that the one has a Carl Zeiss lense...ever since the Zeiss factory made advanced bomb-aiming sights for German bombers in WW2, the company has been renowned for creating THE most impressive lenses..how it optimises the mobile phone's features and pics that it takes, compared to the usual stuff, remains to be seen.
Decisions, decisions...don't you just love technology?

Posted by brix25
Damn... I suppose It will be rushed out to the stores to beat the W800i... I'll have to see the pics once I get behind a pc.

Posted by Tahir Ally
Those new Nokia are only due globaly from the end of this year or eary next year and they have 2 mega pixel camera.By the end of this year other leading manufactures will have more than 5 megapixel on cameras. The Nokia that competes with the w800i is big in size and has big 4 gig mem....We all know SonyEricsson likes to launch new phones in March only.We have to wait for next year..........Did you know that ERICSSON/// makes the RADAR for all AMERICAN figther jets.Sony are leaders in cameras and other electronics products.Blokia must go and do what they know best...MAKE RUBBER(MOTOR CAR TYRES)

Posted by Tahir Ally
Nokia did it again.....With the new N series it does not have a video cam for 3g

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ 786KBR did you check the Vodafone live portal recently.Vodacom is streaming the Vodafone Miracles add for FREE.When you show customers they get blown away and they buy a 3G phone.Other streaming services comming soon.Full HOLLYWOOD AND BOLLYWOOD MOVIES COMING SOON.Can't wait

Posted by Tahir Ally
There are now 52 viruses that affect all symbian devices the uses the 6 series platform. And new Nokias uses this series including the new N series phones from Nokia.Only Nokia is affected and i am not bragging. This is a Fact

and theres lots more to come!!!

TAHIR

not sure if you read the other threads but theres one with tips and tricks... any way with your p900 if you still got it, just write you b/tooth name using tab twice eg TA(tab)HI(tab)R and then whenever a nokia with b/t tries to look for you their phone just resets!!!!!!

IT WORKS!!!!! but only with phones that have tab and only nokias have that problem!

That offer on the V800 (R185/pm) is very tempting if I didn't have any reservations about the overt branding and Vodafone Live I would've taken it... Guess I'll wait till next year.

Posted by JK
@Brix

give it 2-3 months and it will be R135 p/m!

Posted by brix25
I think it would be best to wait and see *Z800, K600, Sakura* SE fans will be tempted in the upcoming months.

Hello buddies ! This morning,I have connected for the first time from my laptop -> bluetooth -> 6230 -> EDGE -> MTN at around 100Kbps/230Kbps up/down ! ! ! I am from Jeffreysbay and the speed is what I have measured by uploading/downloading ftp files ! Mtn will soon be finished upgrading the whole network and then I could "video chat" (simplex or half duplex) while my wife drives the caravelle around :-) I also hope the network is not going to get slower while more and more people uses it !

Posted by brix25
@mario: That's good news considering J-bay is just a small town. On a lighter note you should post this in the Nigerian thread, guys there are complaining about the poor GPRS service from their network providers.

Posted by mario2002
Brix, there is something I don't understand about the download speed ! Can it really be so high ? While the network seem to support it,certailly the cellphone does not ! Or do I have the wrong specs ? Or the network uses file compression ? Do you know the 6230 edge specs ? Do different firmware support higher speeds then originally stated ? Greetings from Jeffreysbay :-)

Posted by JK
edge can reach to about 285kbs/sec!!!

If your MTN handsets displays YELLO BROADBAND for Cell broadcast. It means that bstation is edge enabled. With edge you can not do Video calls on a phone but maybe via a web cam.....Vodacom is also rolling out edge but spending more on 3G.Vodacom wants to cover where ever it has 2g with 3G in 18 months. This can be achieved before 18 months.

Posted by Tahir Ally
BREAKING NEWS:The Nokia 6680 has been approved by Vodacom this week.According to Vodacom the battery life is better than the Moto E1000.This phone will be available from Vodacom by the middle of May latest.I will post dates of availablity and specials for this phone. This 3G phone is going to sell like the legendary Nokia 6110.Everyone wants one.Vodacom is going to have a busy 3G MAY

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: Weren't you the same one who said on here that MTN were struggling to roll out EDGE...if they've got it in a place like J-Bay it surel means it's available nationwide.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix.I did not say MTN is battling to roll out EDGE.I said they where taking to long to launch it.EDGE only works on MTN if your Cellbroadcast displays YELLO BROADBAND.Vodacom has 3G in JBAY

Posted by Tahir Ally
Mario2002.When are you going to upgrade from your ancient 7650.

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: The 7650 is a certified "classic"... Nokia's first camphone, first Symbian phone, first true slider, colour screen and the first which featured BT.

Posted by mario2002
@Tahir First of all there is no 3G in Jeffreysbay ! As soon as it will become available I will get me the datacard. Also only half of the town has got adsl.I HOPE to get 3G in september. As a matter of fact very few towns in South Africa under 50000 people got 3g. On the second subject - Yes I will be upgrading shortly to a 6680, although now the N90 looks more attractive! On the other hand the old 7650 does more than some non smart brand new models can do ! File sharing (irc, jabber) and chess to name but just 2 programs out of over 1000 (or is it 10000 by now) which I use most. I like the features of the new smart phones, but will I really use them to get back the value I've spendet?

Posted by brix25
Don't see the need for acquiring a 3G datacard if you're going to be at home 90% of the time...just get ADSL...or maybe you don't want to further enrich Telkom...either way they're getting your cash as own both companies.

Posted by JK
Telkom doesnt own vodacom only a decent share... any way telkom ceo might leave and join voda ...

do any of you guys think that the k750 looks alot like the sharp gx?!!!?

i think it does...

Posted by mario2002
Adsl is only available to about 30% of J-bay as from feb this year (293xxxx nr). The rest only get it in 2006 ! I don't need high data volume, what I need is high download speed for a short period.Above 100-150 kbps and 'I am in business'. What do you think about the new N-series from Nokia ?

Posted by brix25
Like I said before Nokia will rush the N-series to stores to beat the competition like the W800i but I don't think any phone can match the iPod as a style accessory.

Posted by Rhino8
I just been on the voda live site, quite usefull, even without paying. I dont find it worth paying yet tho.

Posted by brix25
LOL@Rhino... Never thought it would be worth paying for...what they basically did is create a portal for their subscribers that would make getting content much easier...albeit at a ridiculous.

Posted by JK
Brix why are so negative about voda live..?? youv never even used it!!

im not praising it either, its there and i use it, but without complaining or downing it!

i dont think its fair u comment on something u have very little info on.

Posted by brix25
@786KBR: I don't think my comment was negative maybe I don't like the idea of network operated portals.... MTNloaded comes to mind, I admitt VodafoneLive will offer better content but still at ridiculous prices. South African users will basically be paying Vodafone to recoup the massive price they paid in the late 90s for 3G licences. That's my two cents, if it offends then I sincereley apologise.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@brix .You dont know what you talking about.Vodafone Live customers in SA is not paying for Vodafones loses.Vodacom is only paying R9million a year for 3G licence. The 3G licence is the same cost as GSM.European networks paid billions of EURO. Stuff on Vodafone live SA is cheaper than any content provider in Africa. You never used Vodafone live so you dont what its like. Our portal in SA is still new and alot of stuff that other Vodafone countries have we dont have. But content on Vodafone live SA is being upgraded everytime.

Posted by brix25
Vodafone owns 35% of Vodacom...money made in SA goes towards the bottom line in the UK. I won't comment on prices but it should be ridiculous.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix I will give you another comparison.Vodacom launch BlackBerry before MTN but Vodacom is still cheaper than MTN.MTN chargers the there BB clients R368pm and give no free min and they only give free unlimited email usage for 3 months after this they rip you.Vodacom chargers you R349pm gives 100 anytime minutes and unlimited email usage......Vodacom said when they launched 3G.We will not be beaten on data or 3G.As i just pointed out to you now how expensive is MTN on data do you still think MTN will be cheaper and better than Vodacom on 3G.I dont think so.Vodacom is now breaking records in rolling out 3G.Vodacom is activating atleast 15 3G base station a day.The 3G investment Vodacom does in 6 months is what some networks are doing in a year.......Wake up man

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: Did you read my post before grabbing the stylus? I never mentioned 3G rollout or Blackberries. And yes, I'm wide awake.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ Brix The comparison i did about blackberry and 3g was to show you a point that Vodafone live SA users were not paying for Vodafones losses. What i did point out is how expensive MTN is on blackberry and i said Vodacom will not be beaten on data and are breaking records in rolling out 3g.The investment Vodacom does in 6months on 3g is what some networks do in a year ......So why wait for Mtn to launch 3g.They will never beat Vodacom.Vodacom will have 3g almost everywhere by the end of this year.Vodacom did start 6 months ahead in 3g.Vodacom started business 1 month before MTN and Vodacom is twice the size of MTN......Vodacom does not run at a loss and do not over charge customers to cover Vodafones loss. All prices in the telecommunication business have to be ICASA approved.Or by the way MTN will only get the Z800 when the exclusivity ends with Vodafone for V800.The only Sericsson 3G phone MTN will have is the dated z1010

Posted by brix25
@Tahir: Do you hate Cell C as well?

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix i am not saying.I hate MTN and CellC.You must watch what you say and when you say it especialy if its not FACTS.....Since you mention Cell C i am going to tell you something now.FACT Cell C had 3Million customers last year.As of now they only have 2.2million customers.Cell C can not retain customers. They have the highest churn rate in SA or world.Thats why they are doing all these CHEAP deals because they are loosing customers and no one wants to do business with them because of BAD SERVICE.Ask any Vodacom dealer how was business before and after Cell C launched. They will tell you WE ARE BUSIER NOW THAN BEFORE CELL C CAME......As for MTN they are not growing as fast as Vodacom. At 1 time i thought Cell C will overtake MTN but not anymore.Cell C is running at a loss. They cut 90 jobs, did not grow there distribution since launch and recently took R5billion of investers money to pay debts,Cut there franchise fees from R400 000 to R185 000..

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Brix MTN SLASHED THERE DATA RATES BUT NEVER ADVERTISED IT BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE AN EDGE/GPRS/3G modem yet. This shows you how slow they are EVERYWHERE YOU GO......Vodacom will always lead.Yebo Gogo

Posted by Tahir Ally
YELLO we know were are SLOW EVERYWHERE YOU GO.We are sorry. Please be patience

Posted by brix25
LOL... I don't think they pay you enough. Talking of slow GPRS has been terribly slow these last couple of days.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ Brix i dont think you caught up the pun read my previous post carefully.Vodacom GPRS is slow because more and more people are going on GPRS + Blackberry uses GPRS and i think Blackberry customers are making our GPRS connection slow. And some places where there is no 3G net have alot of customers that uses the Vodafone mobile connect card.Plus some customers got data bundles and did not use up all bundles will lose what ever they dont use up before month end......I always said if you want fast GPRS speeds use it after midnight.....

Posted by brix25
Your previous post was a dig at MTN's new marketing campaign.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@ Brix coming back to GPRS.FACT MTN only has about 5 roaming partners for GPRS where as Vodacom has 33.This is another reason why people choose Vodacom.Imagine buying a Blacberry or a 3g device from them and you can only use them on those 5 net....Thats sux.....I said it before and i am going to say it again Vodacom will not be beaten on DATA.MTN IS SLOW EVERYWHERE YOU GO

Posted by mario2002
Tahir don't fool yourself buddy. I don't care about mtn vodacom cellc, but atm mtn is the fastest data network around ! At least what the garden route is concerned. Vodacom only offers limited 3g in PE Plet and CT ! You can count the repeaters on your fingers ! Mtn on the other hand have began implementing edge on all there repeaters on the same stretch of road. 2technicians can upgrade/test 1 tower/day if all goes smooth.Vodacom's 3g need to erect twices many towers and I know for a fact in Jeffreysbay at least they will have a big headache to get the 'go ahead' from the enviorment dep. for the envisaged site !

Posted by brix25
@mario: Doubt he's been anywhere near J-Bay. Tahir forgets that MTN has been a leader in data that's why more business clients choose to go with Y'ello. Even when they offered free GPRS last the speeds were pretty fast considering a whole lot of people joined the network to take advantage of the free GPRS.

Posted by Tahir Ally
@Mario and Brix.If You think upgrading 2 basestation a day is fast for edge.Vodacom is upgrading 15 basestation a day to 3G......MTN ONLY HAS 5 GPRS ROAMING PARTNERS,Vodacom has 33.Vodacom over 9 months is going to upgrade 1000 basestation to 3g.700 are on now.At this time Vodacom is 2 months ahead in rolling out............Mario you said Vodacom has to put twice as much repeaters than what they have now.Vodacom is installing 3g equipment on 2G mast.Look around about every 5 KM there is a 2g mast, every 2g mast has to be upgraded to 3g

Posted by Tahir Ally
I just read in todays paper that a Cape Town company will be streaming FTV(Fashion TV) on cellphones from Tomorrow.

Posted by brix25
LOL...it's more of a novelty than anything else. R5 for a minute of a rampshow is ridiculous. Check downloading tones(they don't specify whether it's mp3) will cost R15...thank you very much but this fuss around m-commerce is reminiscent of the internet boom. Lessons have invariably been learnt but I doubt people will be rushing to get Karl Lagerfeld's latest collection on their mobiles.
