This first post is supposed to gather all the bugs and feature request (or any other thing that'll come up).
This way people can avoid PM'ing laffen reporting/requesting something he already knows.

Yeah. Another nice feature that i want is to see the numer of opened threads and to see the threads of a member

Posted by masseur
DSF, you are on wap right now but online you can click the members "profile" button and then click "view all posts by this user" and that will show you all threads that the members has posted in... or did you mean all threads started by a member?

You can sum up all the topics in the "forum home" page
As for the second one, i don't see much interest on it...
I'll put both on the "Other section" as i don't think they are "top priorities"

Posted by DSF
@masseur i dont mean the 'my posts' function, but a feature that let us see the threads title (with links to respective threads) of a specific member. And about nr of total threads per member, it will be nice to see it somwere under the nr of posts

Posted by Krubach
C'mon people...
This is not a "think-of-a-feature-you'd-like-to-see-implemented" thread.

This is for actual usefull things. If you can prove me that your request is usefull, i'll put it in the summary.

Posted by DSF
While i am in a forum i can't see a "New topic" button. If I want to make a new thread i go to an existing thread in the forum where i want to be my new thread, then click "New Topic".

I hope i am not wrong.. but i really didn't found a "New topic" button or link outsite a thread...

So i suggest a button or a link for "New topic" that you can see easely

Say, like from the - Philippines:

also i need a search funtion in the "Bookmarks" for searching only in the threads that i have bookmarked

Posted by Krubach
@DSF
You can only start a "new topic" when you are inside a section.
If you go to "Forum Home" and then click on "Accessories " for instance you'll see all topics of that section and then you can create a thread...

Searching inside your bookmarks....hmmm......ok...i'll put it...

Posted by laffen
Sorry, but some of the suggested features will never be implemented. While some of the suggestions are "nice to have" are others categorized as "need to have". Some are easy to implement while others will take days or weeks to do. It's the combination of these factors that will decide what I will put on top of the to-do list.

Posted by Vlammetje
requests:
* being able to acces PM sent items box (only with multiple pm delete option though!)

Posted by masseur
searching only within bookmarks appears now to have been implement

Posted by Jake Blues
i only use html lite so i cant comment if this is use on the web or wml, so....
when i am in a thread like the joke thread or uk users thats has hundreds of pages i cant jump straight to example page 242 i only have the choice of the first three and last three. which is no good if you are looking at a huge thread for the first time, unless you have 6 hours to spare and read from the first page to the last!
so what i would like to see implemented is a "jump to page ___" feature.
that way i can read, say, 50 pages then the next 50 another time etc till i catch up

I'm glad laffen is cooperating in this thread
I'm sure this is going to be very useful.
As a basis for his work and as an info to all users.

@Nature
Is rather easy to jump to a specific page.
If you're in, say, the second page. You'll see in the address bar something like start=15. This means you'll be starting with post 15 (All pages have 15 posts).
If you use the formula (PageToGo - 1) * 15 you can just replace the start value by the result of this calculus.
And voilá, you're in the page you want.

I usually don't use HTML light so i can't add a description of something i don't know... But i think this would be first implemented in WEB.

and when you edit a post why not redirect you to the edited post? it always redirect you to the first page of the thread..

What about the numerous bugs in the xhtml forum, for example the links which link to wap forum pages instead of xhtml forum (in search and in the 'more' menu), and errors on pages with bad characters which often make the xhtml forum unusable. Also in the WEB forum when a topic is locked the 'post reply' image is wrong and looks terrible.

When people are more specific about those bugs, i'll post them.
I don't use XHTML so i can't specify the bug.

That your opinion....

Posted by Jake Blues
@ krubach
well you lost me!
1) html lite only has 5 posts per page
2)there is no address bar / start = business in html lite
3) like i said the only page selections we have a choice of in html lite look like this:
1,2,3.....100,101,102

Posted by kimcheeboi
when you go to the 'my posts' feature it cuts off at 740 posts or something like that

Posted by Aled
Quote:

Thats your opinion

No it isnt, its a fact, normally it says -

"New Topic  >> Post Reply "

but if a topic is locked it says-

"New Topic  >> " and then some dodgy graphic of the words "Post Reply" with a line drawn through it. looks very unproffesional, maybe it looks ok in whatever browser you use, but not everyone uses the same browser and it looks plain crap.

Posted by kimcheeboi
its still your opinion

More specific? what? more specific than "the forum link in the "more" menu which links to the wap forum instead of the xhtml forum"

and "errors on pages with bad characters"

i'm guessing you know nothing of html or xhtml, maybe someone who does should look at it?

Posted by Krubach
@aled ROTFLMAO! Maybe you can teach me. LOL. @mods: My intentions were good, but i guess it's not much appreciated...

Posted by Vlammetje
pages with bad characters on the forum are often created by users and no part of the script

There is ONE thing on wap that does not work very well imho:

when I open wap.esato.com on my phone, I get the main page menu.

So far so good. When I then select the link Forums XHTML I get the an error

When you then select forums wap/wml you do seem to get to the xhtml forum anyway... (maybe coz the phone does wap 2.0?? )as you get still use the 'shortcuts' like 0 for last post and such which weren't available on the wml version if I remember correctly.

Hope that clarifies what's wrong with the link.

Images are from a wap emulator so may be lsightly different on the phone, but link does not work.

I've tested with wapsilon.com
http://wap.esato.com/board/wap.php
and works without errors
Vlametje you get that error (wrong content type) because that WAP emulator doesn't suport that mime type..

Wether you think it looks terrible or not, there is a reason for this one; It's to clearly indicate that the topic is locked for replies so you don't waste any more time and GPRS/WAP time on it.
At least you won't miss it the way it looks now.

Posted by Johnex
@DSL: the wapsilon emulator only reports critical errors, not minor errors like characters. Use www.w3schools.com/wap/wml_validate.asp for true wml error checking. If my site has some error that wapsilon doesn't warm about, my phone dies, and the validator tells me the true error.

Posted by Krubach
@Nature
Points 2 and 3 were added. Point 1 i don't know if I should put it. If it's HTML light maybe the 5 posts limit is to keep it light?

@Aled
Still waiting for your lessons ... Anyway your bug reports were added, EXCEPT, the post reply thingy in locked topics.

@Kimcheeboi
Found no limit when viewing ALL pages of my posts

@Vlammetje
Added the XHTML / WML mixed links.

Posted by DSF
what about "Fast reply" function? You know, when you click on a link than a hidden DIV with TEXTAREA and SUBMIT is showed in the same page, without needing to open other page.

Posted by Krubach
@DSF As soon as i get my hands on my PC i'll add that one.

Posted by kimcheeboi
we already discussed this one and laffen or maseur said it was not going to be implemented because its kind of pointless

i get it on my phone too mate.

Vlammetje on my r520 and 7650 work fine. Just on a few (very few) amount of posts appear an error, because bad formed chars..

Posted by Krubach
I've added the "Fast reply" request.
Although it seems that laffen has already said he won't implement it, i'll wait for the confirmation and handle it accordingly.

Posted by Krubach
Added feature requests from DSF sugestions in this thread.

Posted by DSF
i've just noticed if i edit a post with netfront (with 7650) via xhtml, if it contains 'newlines', that post will not be accesible via wap. Maybe netfront is guilty for this, since it cant handle newlines (break lines). Btw, posted with my cellphone via xhtml

I'll add the "search within thread" function. As for the irrelevant results this has been widely discused from a long time and laffen is aware of our complains.
