Its actually a celtic tradition as i know, what turned in the usa for new form. Ppl dress in scary dresses like witch, ghost etc and the children collect in the houses candies with telling poems. The pumpkin is a kind of symbol with the lightning candle inside. A nice way to remember our dead relatives, friends etc

It's actually called All Hallows Eve, (Halloween is just a shortened version) All Hallows meaning all souls or all dead, or something like that

Yeah, my plan is to turn off all the lights, spend my night in one of the back rooms and not answer the door. Just hate it when you get 16 yobs trick or treating and expecting money for nothing. Lucky I have cctv at the front door so can pick and chose who to answer it.

i live on a street with lotts of kids
last year i took a box to the front door and they had to drop a fork from the top of a chair and get an apple before they could get sweets BUT the fork went right through the flimsy box and SOAKED everything
(dunno why i didn't do it outside )
