Posted by GOwin
most email services requires authenticated smtp access, which i dont think the phone supports.

smtp access (to send email) in my case, is provided by the SP

Posted by decoy7
if you have wap you can use Yahoo.co.uk

wap.yahoo.co.uk

Posted by krusel
i got my one finally working which is gmx. but im using CSD or as you may say data over the GSM network by have the phone calling an specific data number.....works fine for me.
a other way on voicestream (to go over wap) is to use the voicestream email which pics up any pop3 mail you enable to be picked up.

hi

Posted by robharvey166
thanks for the info. im using 02 pay as you go, with the 300 free sms, if u n0 what that is?/ i mean email actually on the fone not wap, cause i want to email pics to people thanks

i have the same Genie setup on payasugo using the 915000 dialup number.

i assume you have the data account setup ok and can surf via wap with no problem.

i used to have a yahoo.co.uk email account setup on the phones email settings but haven't tried it for a while as i now use the wap page version.

if you have an ISP account with Pop settings you can use these on the phone, only problem is you usually need to enter the IP address instead of the 'pop3.YourIspName.co.uk' and thats for incoming and outgoing servername.

i'll try my Yahoo settings and tell you if you can still send and receive without signing up and paying Yahoo, in the mean time let us know if this all makes sense to you and how far you are currently with your Genie setup...brb.

Posted by robharvey166
na m8 i dont inderstand all that, yer i can access wap fine, but i just dont no what to do, i been trying got months, its anoyin

Posted by decoy7
ok, let me test out the yahoo settings and i'll get back to you within the hour...hopefully.

got an email address or you on msn?

mail me @hotmail.com

Posted by robharvey166
im on msn, rob_harvey16@hotmail.com

I'm on Vodafone.
My incoming from my Yahoo account works at least... haven't tried sending from Yahoo yet.

off the top of my head I think the incoming server was pop3.mail.yahoo.co.uk

and outgoing
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

I..... think.......

rob is now setup to send pictures via Yahoo...well done m8.

for anyone else interested you have to enable 'Yahoo Delivers' before you can access your account from external Pop clients and if your on Genie you have to type in the IP address instead of the server names:

Here are the basic server settings for Yahoo! Mail:

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com - change to 216.136.173.10

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com - change to 216.136.173.12

Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! Mail name (your address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email address: your Yahoo! Mail address (i.e., user@yahoo.com)
Password: your Yahoo! Mail password

Posted by FaithFree
My Yahoo works with the names... one thing to remember is that usually if you signed up and said you was in England then you will get a .co.uk address instead of .com... this probably also applies to the server names.

@arnoldc: hi! I'm trying to sign up with Hotpop. What do i have to do to view the random serial number (authorization code) in HOTpop.com? I cant confirm authorization without this. Thanks in advance.

i set up a hotpop account and then set it up on my t68i (im with cingular, if that helps)... and it does dial to my wap... then "finding server" then fails--- "server not found'"

what to do?

Posted by pringles
I'm trying to setup email on the t68i using tmobile service. I created a dialup account for netzero and put in the outgoing and incoming servers. But when I try to connect, I get the message 'failed'. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Posted by hardleysecure
I also have problems with the T68i - and no-one seems able to help.

I have setup two email accounts one is me@virgin.net and uses the Virgin ISP dial settings and a GSM data connection - this works fine for sending and recieving.

The other email is me@t-email.co.uk and uses the T-Mobile GPRS data connection - this always gives "send failed" and when recieving you get "unrecognised character set" where the body of the email should be - the header information is correct. The T68i will not recieve attachments.

As a test I took out the SIM and put it in a Nokia 7650 - then added the same two email accounts and Data connections - both work correctly and you can recieve attachments too.

I have contacted SonyEricsson today and will post their answer

My T300 works fine with Yahoo's pop email service. Luckilly enough I can even send emails with my T300, even though Yahoo requires SMTP authorization.

Vizzavi is closing down. This is an email I had into my Vizzavi mailbox:

Dear Vodafone Customer

Important announcement re the closure of the Vizzavi email service

We are sorry to announce that the Vizzavi email service will be closing down on the 31st March 2003. From this date onwards you will be unable to access your Vizzavi email account. However as a Vodafone user, we would like to offer you our new, enhanced email service Vodafone Mail.

So what exactly is Vodafone Mail?
Vodafone Mail provides you with a single point of access for all your messages: voice, personal e-mail and fax. It enables you to receive and respond to messages in a way that is convenient for you, irrespective of how they are sent. You can collect your e-mails on your mobile; listen to your Voicemails on the Web; reply to e-mails with a voice attachment; send or forward voicemail to a distribution list; and access all your messages from a fixed-line phone or the web, helping you stay in control when you're out and about.

We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that the closure of the Vizzavi email service is likely to cause and encourage you to register for Vodafone Mail. Please be aware you will need to manually transfer all your contacts and personal items from your Vizzavi email account to your Vodafone Mail account or an alternative email location before the 31st March 2003.

To find out more about Vodafone Mail and to register go to http://www.vodafone.net/

We will be sending you future reminders about this change. For help or to contact our customer services team, please call 191 from your mobile.

I signed up for a Voda one but I don't know if it will work as well as Vizzavi.

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi and all that.

@robharvey166 im also on O2 payg and i have the free wap and messages option aswell i tryed to set up my isp emial on there and it wont find the server so i phoned o2 customer support if you dial 4444 and leave it ring for long enuff you get through to support.
and they said that unless you have o2 mobile web http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/mobileweb/0,,141,00.html and you cant get it on o2 pay and go

how to set up pop3 on a t68i from the o2 website http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/mobileweb/pdfs/T68i%20email%20set%20up.pdf

@warmrr:
I am an O2 PAYG customer and I am able to send and receive my ISP email by using the GSM wap account. I am guilty of not reading the entire thread so if I have missed something then I apologise.

Regards,

Phil.

i helped robharvey166 get his email working in June 2002...someone revived an old thread...almost a year old thread.

Posted by warrmr
well phil.n can u help me get mine workin then it jus ses fialed to connect to server

im using o2 payg gprs with blueyonder isp

these are my isp settings for outlook

pop3.blueyonder.co.uk
smtp.blueyonder.co.uk
username rw012d3321_3
password ********

thats all that i get

Posted by SCORPIONKING1982
hurrah i got mine working now! im on o2 online and used the numbers instead of the names and it works! suberb work boyo

Posted by decoy7
warrmr,
for starters, type the pop & smtp address as their ip addresses:

replace pop3.blueyonder.co.uk with 195.188.53.61
replace smtp.blueyonder.co.uk with 195.188.53.60

note: we obtain the IP address by opening a DOS window and typing 'ping pop3.blueyonder.co.uk'...then hit return...this provides the IP address number 195.188.53.61

secondly, you may need to use the smtp address of your isp for sending outgoing mail if blueyonder dont allow sending of mail via another isp's dial-up...come back to this part if you cant send email...test if you can retrieve mail before we deal with sending issues.

thirdly, it may be that you need to get additional settings as your connecting via GPRS, which i've no first hand experience of using, although i've got it activated for MMS, i havent figured out how to surf using it.

i'm and old Genie payg o2 customer.

Having just played with my new xmbox.com maila account - it does exactly that - you can configure it to go and fetch mail from other pop3 accounts.

And xmbox works well on T-Mobile USA on t-zones - no need to change to internet2.voicestream.com or internet3.voicestream.com.

Looks like I answered my own question......not sure if the above will help any other USA T-mobile users on t-zones trying to get their email.
