Hi,

I have a k700i on o2 contract.

When i get media messages sent to my phone from other mobiles i get a message saying that i have recieved a message.

To view this message i have to connect to the net on my mobile and login then i can finally view the image.

Can i not have the image sent directly to my mobile like my t610 used to do on vodafone?

Yes but you need to have gprs setup and activeted, phone o2 and asked them to activate gprs (say so you can send and recieve MMS) and ask them to send the settings to your phone (they should do this).

Or get the settings from the SE website

cheerz, ill get that set up

Hah! 02? I have tried this three times over the last three weeks and it still doesn't work!

The MMS settings sent by O2 didn't work on my K700, I'm still unable to send or receive picture messages. Downloading settings from the SE didn't help either.

only settings i have on my phone for o2 is

message server, http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
internet profile 02 wap gprs

Have you tried phoning o2 as you may need your sim card to be activated to use mms even if you can already use GPRS, i had to do this with my old PAYG sim, and my mate had to phone up to use MMS on his new contract sim.

@buckle247

At the end of the server address you use for picture messaging is there a '/' or is it exactly as you typed in your last post?

Posted by buckle247
no /

exactly as i typed in previous post

@buckl247

I had a '/' at the end of the aserver address I am using, I've removed it now, perhaps that will work. Thank you.

Posted by buckle247
yeah give it a go without the / then. If not phone o2 and see if it is enabled for mms use.
The only benifit for an o2 branded k700, all settings are pre-installed, and everything works.

@buckle247

Mine is an O2 K700, it hasn't been able to send a picture message since the day I got it, neither has my S700, but hopefully this will work.

try it and let us know. It is weird why some o2 sims are shipped with mms enabled and others not. When my mate phoned up, they said his sim card would have been activated for mms after 30 days even if he hadn't of phoned them.

@buckl247

I tried that and it still isn't working! I've deleted my settings and have downloaded them again from the SE website, I'll let you know if that does the trick.

Posted by scotsboyuk
I can report that downloading the settings again did not work. I shall phone O2 and ask them to have a shot at solving this one.

Posted by buckle247
yeah i am guessing you need to have it activated on your sim. Just a way for them to make money at 50p a minute i guess

@buckle247

I was using my S700 just there, but it is the same problem with my K700; I'll need to ask about both of them.

Posted by buckle247
are you using the same sim in both phones?

Posted by scotsboyuk
@buckle247

No, different SIMs.

Posted by scotsboyuk
I phoned O2 and I was told that mms hadn't been activated on my account, so it looks as if buckle247 may have been correct. I was told that mms should be active within twenty four hours, hopefully my next post will be to say that I can send picture messages.

I work for Orange myself, but the problem you're getting is normally called a legacy experiance (if your being told to go onto the net to get a picture; this is what happens to people who don't have MMS phones). This is caused either A: if your account isn't provisioned with MMS or B: if the changes on your account aren't showing on O2's HLR (where your network profile & permissions are stored). Which /normally/ can be resolved by some SIM updates (if they do them right).

Hope this helps. This won't be a settings issue if when people are sending you messages you get a text message instead, this will be at O2's side for sure.

If it was a settings issue you would be recieving the MMS, but with no picture and when you chose to download the picture it would throw up communication error of some sorts.

Well after having been told that MMS had been activated on my account I still can't send MMS messages!

What error message do you get? Can you recieve okay?

Try a soft reset (remove battery from the back of the phone whilst the phone is still on, leave out for 30 seconds, pop it back in), it's safe don't worry.

If that doesn't work, try leaving the phone off overnight. Sometimes if your stuck in a session at O2's SGSN it will deny any more things happening through that mms gateway; leaving off overnight can sometimes let this clear.

I can't really advice any better unless I know what message your getting.

@shuurajou

The MMS just doesn't send and I can't receive any either. When someone sends me a MMS I get a message saying I have one, but that I need to go online to receive it, but when I do I can't download it.

If your phone is still telling you to go online to recieve it (as in go to http://www.o2.co.uk/mms use x login x password etc), then this has to be a problem at O2's end, as it is not your handset that is generating these text messages, it is O2's MMSC server.

If they tell you that your account is correctly provisioned with MMS, then they need to make sure that you are also showing on O2's HLR, but they probably have no idea what they're doing, so try and talk to their data support or technical support, NOT their helpdesk.

If you aren't showing on O2's HLR then you won't be able to send or recieve, as the HLR stores your permissions of what you can and cannot do.

Let me know how you get along.

I can now send picture and video messages from my S700, but I haven't tried my K700 yet; hopefully it should work too.

had this too, called o2 and they said everything was enabled. they sent new sim card etc but still no joy. until they reset the APN settings at their end-now it works fine, hope this helps.
