I have mixed opinions on both Kerry AND Bush, but if we went to war or had a national crisis, I'd rather have Bush in Office any day (especially if we went to war)! I know it'll never happen, but I say bring back Clinton...

Anyway, i liked them and those were private affairs imo. But dont wanna go off topic. Just hope that this time the election wont be the cheap circus as 4 years ago, cos that was more humilitated for the whole system, next to it a bit "sex" was piece of cake imo. We ll see what happens.

How about, cuz Kerry thinks this whole "war on terror" business is a cute joke he can afford to ignore, just like Clinton thought he could ignore al Qaeda except when convenient for him (as a distraction from his intern troubles, etc.). And a Kerry presidency greatly increases the chances that another 9.11 will happen soon.

The core of the reasoning behind 9-11 was the perceived american lust for world power (pardon me, of course I mean the lust for 'bringing democracy to the world') and a president who is not overly eager to invade countries and/or enforce american economics on countries, just may very well reduce the threat of more attacks simply by being in office.

@vlamm--you're forgetting that Bush ran practically as an isolationist. His stated position was that the U.S. had to be "humble" in the world and not go around trying to be the world's policeman or solve all the world's problems.
So it was not Bush's arrogance that brought 9/11--which was in the works long before he was ever running anyway. OBL & Co. hate America for being America, and it's not going to stop being america even with JFK(2) in office, so they're still going to hate the U.S. The only question is whether the U.S. is going to do anything about it or not. And under Kerry, it will not (not anything serious, any way). Which means, the likelihood of a successful attack will increase. Not just in America, either, but in Europe too.

Regardless of what you think of Bush yourself, bear in mind that 50 million (or so) Americans _will_ vote for him Nov. 2. Not all of them are idiots; some just see the world differently from you. To say "there are no reasons" is a little bit insulting to, oh, about half of Americans (and some non-Americans too!).

strange enough a disagreement on politics.... and in this case only foreign politics as nobody here even knows if and what Bush did internally for the average american.... a disagreement on poliics is not usually considered an insult... as long as it's fed by arguments and not petty attacks.

To clarify: I didn't say it was insulting to disagree about Bush's foreign policies. I said it was insulting to say "there is _no_ reason to vote for Bush" when 50 million people obviously will vote for him, whether he wins or loses. All these people are voting for "no reason"?
@ vlamm: I agree we should try to understand others when we disagree, that's why I thought the "no reason" comment was unhelpful, and, yes, insulting to those who see some good in what Bush has tried to do.

Here's my case as to why we should not vote for Bush.
Bush's 4 years on office have been a failure: his international policies are horrible, his doestic policies are jsut as bad, and his administration is both inept and stupid.
Bush has invaded 2 countries in the name of preventing terrorism. Bush has not hesitiated to use force to find and eliminate terrorism. For those of you who wonder: "What's wrong with that?" I've got a surprise for you.
Bush invaded Iraq on the premises that Iraq posessed WMD's. However, studies done by both the 9-11 Comission and the UN weapons inspectors have proved that there were no WMD's present in Iraq at the time that Bush invaded Iraq. Bush was informed that these weapons did not exist, but he still followed through with his plans. Absolutely ridiculous!
Bush has also isolated America from the rest of the world. These isolationist policies have only served to create a general anti-american feeling and have done nothing to alleviate the terrorist problem. By dismissing the UN, Bush has written off many of our major allies and basically declared the UN useless. Unforutnately, international relations involves diplomacy. So by alienating other countries, Bush has only worsened the situation in Iraq.
And back home: Bush accuses Kerry of increasing taxes. Well, hell. Bush has cut taxes for only the 5% wealthiest of Americans, and therefore has increased the gap between the rich and poor, while decreasing the size of the middle class. Bush's tax cuts have not benefited the average American. John Kerry plans to increase taxes for the wealthiest Americans, and this would indeed be a tax increase, but it would end up benefiting the rest of America!
Republicans have also repealed many major important legislations aimed at protecting the consumer and the environment. There are over 1,000 Superfund sites still in the USA, and Superfund funds have run out. Bush has also given these gross-polluting companies a break from paying fines (the fines are used to clean up the Superfund sites) for polluting the environment. I'm not saying that Kerry will solve this problem immediately, but at least Kerry won't follow in Bush's footsteps. Republicans have also repealed many laws protecting the old forests of America, because these 'old forests are useless wood that will end up being wasted.' I'd like to point out that preserving an ecosystem is of great importance, and replacing 1000 year old trees with saplings isn't going to work.
When Bush ran in 2000, he told us that he would have this 'compassionate conservatism.' He would let the states decide upon issues of great importance.
Bush tried to pass a bill makeing gay marraige illegal in all 50 states. First of all, the Consitution is NOT used to make these laws! Do we pass other criminal laws using the Consitution?!?!
Bush has also gotten Congress to pass the Patriot Act. Whatever happened to these age-old American ideals of free speech? Habeas corpus? A search warrant?
On top of that, there are situations such as the ABu Ghirab prison scandal. THe Bush Administration was notified of this before the scandal broke, but they did not do anything about it. It's even been alleged that the Pentagon recommended these tactics to be used. How are we to reelect an unethical Administration back into office? How can we reelect a President we can't trust?

Even if Americans dont care bout Bush's warmongering, another reason why they should reject Bush is that he is surrendering his government to the far right. Far right means,
1)curtail of Americans' civil liberties, Patriot Act, abortion rights for women....
2) end of Secular America as religion will play more and more of a prominent role in government policies and legislations
3) Appointment of judges who will not uphold the freedom granted in the Bill of Rights. The judiciary is suppose to be a check and balance for the legislature but with the appointment of conservative judges, there will be no more check and balance in the American system.
Worse of all in pursuit of this agenda, Bush is willing to lie to Americans and deceive them, How can you trust this man when he has lied to Americans and the Congress in pursuit of his personal rightist agenda? If your ideals match with his, then you're lucky, but if it doesnt, he is going to lie, deceive and trick you to make sure you support him anyway.

what concerns me in this upcoming election is that religion will become more and more involved in politics. The American Government was intentionally esatblished with the idea of separation of church and state (thomas jefferson), and what the religious right seeks to do is undo this separation. Dangerous things happen when church and state mix, as history has proven to us.
Christianity has been proven to be irrational and founded upon logical fallacies. We can't have such kinds of judgement decide our national policies.

I have nothing against Christians, everyone has a right to believe what they want to believe in, but I do have a problem with Christian evangelist/fundamentalism taking over America (read Bush and his aides) just as much as I have a problem with those who misconstrue Islam and other religions for their extremist ends. Moderation is the way forward.
