P900 screen problem (near virtual keyboard)

I just noticed in the last month that a certain section of my touch screen does not respond.

When I want to use the virtual keypad in an SMS, the send buton is pressed instead. When I draw with the stylus from left to right on the bottom of the screen a line is drawn horizontally until you start getting near the keypad symbol and then it goes up and over and back down the other side. Means I cannot use the keypad at all.

Please help!

Goto control panel/Display/Screen/Calibrate Screen. See if that helps. Tab the calibration points perpendicular with the stylus to the screen.

I have tried to calibrate the screen. It seems that only the bottom section of the screen is affected with this problem.

You could try backing up your phone, do a Master Rest and see what its like then. You can always restore your backup. If its still unresponsive after calibrating the screen then its likely the touch pad film in that area has gone faulty.

That's pretty much what is hapening in my 5 year old Palm V.
In my case it's a hardware problem, created by damage to the touch sensitive surface in the screen, because of extensive use writing documents.
I noticed that if I press light with the sylus, all kinds of horizontal lines are drawn, but if I press harder the problem seems less severe. See if in your case it helps.

same thing happened with my p900, it became like that when my phone reached 3mos. i just gave it back to SE service center and they replaced it with a new one without any questions.. if it is under warranty, try to return it to an SE service center..

Thanks for the reply. The phone is still under warranty, so I'll send it away for repairs.

I've only had it for 8 months!

Again, same thing happened to my 4 year old Palm m100. It was like that for a while though... Basically, if I try to "draw" as you say, in a straight horizontal line across the screen, the line goes on a diagonal to the line that I actually drew.
So if I drew this...

Or sort of anyways. I'm sure you get the point.

It was really annoying when trying to use the handwriting recognition software (graffiti) that Palm offers. I think your best bet will be to either have it checked out (if it's still under warranty) or you could buy a new screen off ebay, or from carphonewarehouse or something.
