@Brym: that N5000 monthly charge is limited to 10mb of data download. After that, what next?
Posted by pxthomas
Brym, please explain in detail "unlimited access to the web"
This message was posted from a WAP device
Posted by brym!
@pxt: Unlimited access to the web means unlimited internet browsing through Blackberry Service.
@amby: I asked the lady who attended to me about this 10MB limit, she assured me that there is no limit. I'll confirm this from a Friendship Centre tomorrow.
Posted by ambyzown
pls confirm o, cos if it truly offers unlimited downloads, its a really good deal. even better than Celtel.
Posted by mamba
can u connect the blackberry to pc via bluetooth and also browse on the 5k unlimited? glo has a full internet service that costs 12k per month
Posted by epohcj
try http://forum.epohcj.com.ng its a truly nigerian forum
Posted by brym!
@amby: I'll try the Friendship Centre tomorrow, God willing. Been too busy to sneak out of the office these two days.
@mamba: The MTN lady explained that accessing the net by Blackberry Service is limited to a Blackberry device... you can't use the device as a modem.

Glo gprs finally returned to my locality yesterday. So we have mtn and glo.
@aya and brym...how do i get glodirect? And what's is the current tariff?
@amby..find a way to get my celtel line activated
Posted by mamba
@pxt, glodirect is 12k per month for unlimited access but you might have to pay like 44k start-up with 1st month inclusive
Posted by brym!
@pxt: Monthly access is N1,250
Refundable deposit is N5,000
Pay as you browse is 35k/kb (peak) and 20k/kb (off-peak)
Unlimited plan is N12,000 on a dedicated data line + monthly access
+ refundable deposit
Posted by pxthomas
What are the other requirements for glodirect

Ah ah, Pxt, I do not work for celtel o. But you have to realise that even if ur line is provisioned for gprs, it still wont work except your location is covered by the service.
I'm in Benin right now, and gprs is not available all over the city. sometimes its there other times its not.

Since it is only available on postpaid, you'll be required to fill a form, a copy of your ID(passport or driver's license), a copy of a utility bill(Nepa or Water Board)and a passport photo?
You'll be given a postpaid sim card that activates within 24 hrs.
@amby: I no fit reach MTN yesterday so make we leave am for Monday or Tuesday. How's Benin after Lucky Igbinedion?
Posted by pxthomas
brym is it possible to retain my present number?
Posted by brym!
@pxt: I called corporatecare and was informed you can retain your number.
Some changes:
Deposit is now N6K not N5k as earlier mentioned.
Your bank statement of acct or salary slip is also required
2 passport photos not 1.

Thanks Brym
Posted by brym!
While I thank Celtel for affordable gprs, I still think that the introduction of unity tariffs was a very dumb move. All over Nigeria on net calls are cheaper so why make your subcribers pay same rate as calls to other networks? Even the postpaid options are not friendly, their monthly access of N2,000 is still highest. Ah! Vmobile I miss you.
Well, my formular for now remains; Celtel for data and Glo for voice.

@all, any news on the impending strike? going by precedents, i'm not particularly keen on the strike coz it's the same masses that will cry foul if labour decides a fight 2 finish industrial action.
Posted by brym!
@amby: Sorry about your experience. We thank God there was no physical harm.
You didn't really tell us where in Lagos it happened and how?
And why did you refer to the other victim as a 'mugu'?
Happy belated birthday to you.
And belated birthday greetings to Angel and pxt jnr.

Thanks brym
@Amby i am also wondering why you called that unlucky citizen "mugu"
Posted by ambyzown
Thanks you'all for the wishes. Demmy welcome back to the house u built. the incidence took place about 50 meters from my gate at about 10.45pm. I called the other guy a mugu cos I was a mugu for being out so late, then comes this guy in a brand new car at that late hour. maybe I shouldn't've used the term 'mugu' but at the time thats all I could think of. By the way, I've retrieved my line.

What does "Mugu" exactly mean in Naija because down here we have a similiar word spelt- moegoe- to describe a fool.
Posted by coolapostle
Sorry Amby! Abeg be home by 9pm.
@Brix Mugu is a synonym for fool here too. Or sucker. It must mean, the crooks dumped Amby's car for the mugu's brand new one.
Strike or no strike, I AM TAKING A BREAK 2MORO.

I just saw the adverts. Brilliant! Just when u thot we had seen all the innovations, Celtel come along. Hope Glo picks it up. I know CLC's (Crazily Loyal Customers) like Amby will have 10 hours free airtime on Sundays.
But it is still not enough to recall my Celtel SIM from the bench. I am still waiting for the Migration fee to be scrapped b4 I join the Unity tariffs. With all the VAT-related price increases, I have been strict about using MTN for MTN calls and Glo for Glo calls. Celtel is currently too expensive.
@All How was the strike in ur part of 9ja? I think it will be total in Abuja and Lagos.
Posted by ambyzown
All this talk about Amby's Naija version of Opera mini is making me feel like Bill Gates
The strike was quite effective in my area, with almost total adherence to the stay at home directive.
@Coola: No matter how much you load, the maximum you get is N4,536 worth of bonus airtime for celtel to celtel calls, so there's no way I can get 10 hours. Which day you wan marry sef? I wan come chop ya rice o.
Posted by Demmy
yes oh, when u wan marry?

@coola: Don't take offence O! We care.
As Day 2 of strike action draws to a close, I just can't stop thinking that Baba is still is in control persuading Yar'Adua to be firm.
Posted by uchrik
Methink that NLC should call off the strike without further delay. They can continue their dialogue after that.Imagine NLC president saying that electric power and water supply will soon be affected by the strike. If this happens, who does he expect to suffer it?

Hallo every1. Lonnggg time. I presume you guys know you don't have to own a BlackBerry to enjoy corporate or personal email particularly if you own a SE phone;P990 to be exact.Just visit the SE support site to download the BlackBerry Connect software You may still have to to pay N6,000.00 or N5,000.00 for the the corporate or personal plan.
However Glo or MTN may be reluctant to implement the service on any other brand since the whole idea is to sell as many BlackBerry's as possible to its ''esteemed customers''. You nerds better get to work on finding a workaround. TTFN
