Mtech is the internet service provider for MTN (and it works just as well on Vmobile, as I suspect it will on Mtel. It doesn't work on Glo though). Here are d details. Again, depending on your handset, you may need to know exactly where and how to input them (Sony Ericsson & Siemens are d more complicated phones to setup).
Profile Name: Mtech
username: mtech
Password: mlife
IP/Gateway: 192.168.77.153
Port: 9210
Dialup number: 08039002000
Data type: analogue
Data speed: 9.6kbps
Connection: connectionless
Home: http://web.mlifeng.com (or use my wapsite http://wappy.to/yomi )
If your handset has an email client, you can also access your mails using Discomm's dialup service as follows:
Provider's name: DISC
username: test
password: test
dialup number: 013459000
I use both regularly and they work pretty well. Happy browsing!

@ bennie. Thanks 4 d sites. U plan 2 use wap on Mtn? It wil put a hole in ur pocket,it wil be cheaper 2 get a glo line if u dont have one.@ Aya does d mtech service work on mtel? Cos i have an mtel line. Also on d average how much wil it cost us 2 paste on esato since is per kb?

You will be billed for each page you open. Fortunately, WAP pages are very small in size. You will also be billed depending on how large your posts are
One way to cut down your browsing bill by up to 50% is to disable images in your browser settings, so images dont load on the WAP pages you visit.
If you use a smartphone like I do, resist the temptation to visit regular webpages (their sizes run from say 18kb to as large as 100kb at times), because you'll run bills like crazy.
Our esato frolics should not suffer from the billing. An average large page load is about 1.7kb i.e. N1.19. An average of 5 page visits and 5 posts per day will run you only between N11.90 & N20. Not bad

@Angel thanks. @AYA; thanks for the mtn wap settings. I loaded the settings down but wn i searched it tried to connect but later "no response from network" popd up on my screen. Or is it that it doesnt work in Abuja, cos i reside in Abuja?

Hello Nigeria!
Posted by OluYom
@angelgirl: It works with all brands of WAP phones, including Samsung.
@bennie. Oops! I checked & MTN says WAP is functional only in Lagos.
@dawny. Have never tried it on Mtel, but Mtel's network has what it takes, so I see no reason why it should not. Give it a try.

I've configured my phn but i don't think i will ever use d dial up connection. I remember 1 time that i tried 2 connect wit mtn,all my crdt just went. But i hear you can only stream vidz and music via dial up(csd). It doesn't work wit glo gprs. Is there a way 2 use yahoo or msn messenger via glo gprs?
Posted by OluYom
To use MSN/Yahoo messengers or other Internet utilities like AvantGo, opera on your phone via GPRS, you need to have a GPRS Internet account setup for you. What you have now is a GPRS WAP account, so it wont work. To get a GPRS Internet account on Glo, u need to subscribe to their contract package

Hi Demmy,I share your views about Nigerians having a meeting point.Nigerians are good and honest people despite what our distractors may want to believe. The few bad eggs that are not up to 1/2% of Nigerians shouldn't be used to judge us.From Ihejirika

Posted by bennie
@ihejirikalives: sure, if u are streaming and a cal comes in, it is autom'ly put on hold, after the cal ends it continues frm the point it went on hold. @everyone: guys where u'al at: areafada, AYA, dawny, coolapos., angelgal... the show must go on.

Can that be done @ mcdorsey.
Posted by OluYom
I believe the firmware upgrade can be done by McDorsey. They are one of the most professional mobile repairs outfit in the country. Actually, what they are doing on my p800 is a firmware upgrade too. Almost cant wait to have my baaaby back!

Wap was stil free in Abj dis morn'n, dont kn if they've started billin. @All: how r we sure d billin wil b acurate enof so we dont get overbilled, since there's no meter to monitor evry byte.

Most GPRS enabled phones come with a data counter that lets you monitor what you've used. What to do is check both the counter and your available credit before and after each each browsing session to determine how acurate your billing has been.
@bennie. The threat of getting your phone corrupted by downloading stuff is very real (and may be what has happened in your case), so I advice caution in downloading from every site that offers something (especially FREE).
Posted by Demmy
@Angel, we shall c, although e no go easy.@all d last time i posted sequel 2 readin past 20 posts N95 was deducted - @AYA Do u thnk we'er being billed correctly cos if i find out dt it's cheaper 2 use d Internet - so b it.

Na beans! 2 beat d kenyans is 2 attemt suicide. At any rate, good luck 2 all d participants.
Posted by OluYom
Sorry guys, but there's no way for me to verify glo's GPRS billing at d moment. McDorsey says my phone won't be ready untill Monday.
Posted by ihejirika
Btwn whn I dropped my phone yestnyt & ths morning about N25 was deducted 4rm d balance.@d Kenyans run kilometres daily 2 skul bcos skuls r far 4rm thier homes & marathon officials allow top athletes including Kenyans 2 begin 10mins b4 d rest 2 avoid thier being mobbed.Tht is an advantage 4 them.
