@senisho, what a funny way of discovering PNF.
@AYA, Vmobile gprs is now something else, it times out all the time.
Posted by Senisho
@mamba u can say dat again
@AYA still waiting......

Posted by OluYom
@senisho: type "wapgprs" in an SMS and send to 184. You should be sent the settings by SMS (OTA). Simply save thoise settings you receive, restart your phone and you should be able to browse. if that fails, you can use the info provided on my company's site www.domainstandard.net/mobility/data.php

@AYA thank u,thank u,thank u.

@bennie and all those clamouring for seminars, DomainStandard Networks will be holding one this month:
Theme: MOBILE STRATEGIES FOR SMALL & MEDIUM ENTERPRISES
Date: Sunday 27th November 2005
Time: 1pm - 5pm
Venue: Conference Centre, UNILAG Guest House, Lagos
I will be speaking and demonstarting how implementing a basic mobile strategy can help small and medium enterprises reap immense benefits. There's much to learn even if you don't run an SME

@Angelgal, that's considered. Did u finally get ur pc browsing wit ur phone as a modem?
How did u do it?
Posted by OluYom
@remiavan: You will have to ask mamba about that. He seems to be the Vmobile expert here.
Posted by Angelgirl
@Bennie, yes i successfuly conected but with my pc at d office, d one @ home has a hardware problem, how i did it? Simple, attended one of Aya's seminar 4 practical's n followd the step by step guide on his website plus some assistance from Amby who use my brand of phone :-D .
Posted by mamba
@remiavan, if the emsn a java or symbian application? it depends on the type of phone you have cos Vmobile gprs is wap only, though it can work on sonyericsson phones like k300, k700, s700 and k750.. that's only if the emsn is a java app of course..
Posted by OluYom
@mamba: I am considering including you on the list of resource persons for the workshop section of the Nov 27th seminar. PM me if interested so we can fix a date to discuss before then.

Nna men, you don old o, my apologies sir

@amby: Its that same selinity that makes his mouth run like Baba Iyabo's whenever he shows up here after taking his now regular breaks

@brym: Windows wetin?! Those ugly things with 90 minutes battery lives? They dont even qualify as mobile devices, seeing you have to keep them plugged to the wall 24-7. Please talk something else!
Posted by mamba
@brym, you be real old man here o!
i've also known esato since early 2003 and used to browse tru regularly to download themes, ringtones and mophun games for my t300, but never registered till i eventually found PNF.
Posted by ambyzown
I too discovered Esato from the glo home page when gprs services began, but did not register until I stumbled upon PNF.
Posted by brym!
@amby: Apologies accepted .

@mamba:Same for me too; I discovered Esato searching for themes for my T300/310. I only registered after I bought the T610 and needed solutions to trouble shoot bugs and also to fully utilize those impressive features.
@AYA: Most smartphones running on WM2003(including "da Jam") have impressive battery life. And you must agree they are looking cute these days...smaller, slimmer and lighter.

Hey guys, it's not often that I post here...but I was upset after trying to buy a new phone on eBay...the seller said he would report me eBay for the mere fact that I was an African enquiring whether the phone could be shipped to South Africa. I mean, I've known racism all my life having grown up in South Africa but this one just knocked the wind out of my sales and now I'm disillusioned with eBay.
Posted by OluYom
@brix: i feel you, brother. Similar thing happened when I attempted to purchase a Symbian app for my 9500 from www.handango.com. I was rebuffed with one stupid statement that my country was on a stupid list of non-export countries. My offense was being Nigerian (or is it now an African thing?).
I gave the guys at Handango a piece of my mind. I also contacted the product manufacturers and told them the whole thing. They were shocked an offered me a free one-year license to use the app till they come up with an alternative medium of purchase.
I hate the racism that's all over the place.
Posted by mamba
@brix, I feel what happened to you and it's really unacceptable, I thought this discrimination was restricted to Nigeria (due to internet scam history), but I'm now surprised to hear this now.. yours is a clear case of racism and really unfair...
@Aya, was nice of you to have contacted the product manufacturer and I'm pleased that they even gave you free licence for 1year..
Posted by ambyzown
I'm sorry to read about your experience Brix, this form of discrimination is assuming an alarming trend. I got the same treatment here on esato when I inquired about a phone. Do you think we could get an ebay equivalent here in africa?
Posted by brix25
We've got several online shops operating in South Africa ...good example is www.bidorbuy.co.za the product choice on their is limited and the prices are not much cheaper than brick and mortar stores.

It's a shame that after all this civilization, people still raise eyebrows against fellow men as regards; race, religion and color. That's the challenge man in all his wisdom has failed to tackle. We should always r'mber we didn't create ourselves. If we did, we'ld have made d best of ourselves.
Even at home here, it's d rich Vs poor, tribe Vs tribe, religion Vs religion. It's come of age, it's time we respectd d reason why God made us different and show oneanother love.

Amby why is it dat txt messages with T610 does not store 4 long on phone and if stord in sim archive, disapears after sim switched off n on. Or is there something am not doing?
Posted by 2tek
i'm a chelsea fan, chelsea never said they couldnt be beaten, all they need is just a little respect, like the one accorded man utd and arsenal. henry is back and i pray he stays that way,so the competition can turn up and all those gunner fans can really understand that NO HENRY, NO ARSENAL!. Chelsea is playin man utd 2moro and its goin to be a good match.
BLUES 4 LIFE
Posted by ambyzown
Angel, the T610 does not have memory allocation for SMS.
Inbox, Sent and Unsent messages are saved in a "cache" memory on the phone. However, this cache memory is reset each time you remove the battery from the phone.
The only way to save sms with the T610 if you plan to remove your battery, is to do it in your sim, but remember MTN sim's only take 15 sms, Glo 20 and Vmobile 25.

Hurry! I'm now on Vactive! GPRS. Thanx 4 ur help AYA. No more beggin 4 my mum's sim ha ha ha!

Guys, I played with knoppix, a Linux distro, on Saturday and fell in love! Great interface. Awesome peripheral detection and compatibility.
XP requires me to install SP2 in order to install drivers for my 9500. Not knoppix. I connected and was good to go.
Windows requires installation of CD software to be able to use Bluesoleil bluetooth dongle. Not Linux. I plugged it in and activated it right off.
Plus I get about 4 browsers, Open Office (word, spreadsheet etc compatible).
I am exploring the possibilities of running linux on my laptop now
