It sells for =N=2,500, the most expensive in the market for now.
I think I'll try to call the customer care and see if I'll get any info for you.

@all I told u guys about M-tel, always disappointing everybody's great expectations, sorry 4 the long absence it was due 2 some circumstances beyond me.
@ amby welcome aboard.
Posted by OluYom
@Area: Long time, no see. Does the explanation imply that we will be seeing you here more often?
About Mtel, at least they live up to their motto of "talk the talk", and in their case they refuse to walk the talk.
But since I provide info on mobile data services, I have no choice but to be interested in Mtel, disappointments or not. Got to do my job

@: Areafada thanks for the warm welcome.
@: Brix25 whats the latest on the Vmobile-vodacom deal?

I just came across this new forum when I searched for the word Nigeria on Google. The forum is called ABUJAmobile and is available at http://www.abujamobile.com It looks promising though. It was about time. This is for the Nigerians on ESATO. Am out of here. :d
Posted by seunosewa
Two new Nigerian mobile forums already! One would think MobileNigeria was making a bundle of cash.
Posted by Aalpha001
Really?

You know, my heart bleeds when I see a black man trying to work against the progress of a fellow black man... :s

Can someone please tell me was happening to GPRS with Glo, am in Victoria Island since i recharged today, i have not seen a single flash of the service, i thought the GPRS problem is over.

@angelgirl: I have noticed that for pre-paid subscribers, whenever your credit level falls below the 0.00 mark especially after browsing, you lose GPRS signal. Whenever you recharge, you have to reboot your phone in order to pick up the signal again. Hope it works for you.
The two new sites for mobile users in Nigeria don't seem to be working properly. Am I doing something wrong?
Posted by Aalpha001
I guess ABUJAmobile is only available on computers and not PDAs or mobile phones.
Trying accessing it from a computer that has Internet connection.
Posted by Angelgirl
@Ambyzown, Thanks exactly what i did and its back.

I dont know if http://GoSmartMobile.com/mysmartphone/ is included in your reference to the new forums, but it has not been deliberately optimized for WAP, though I know of at least one person who has accessed it via WAP. I also know of a couple of others who post on the forum with their smartphones.
Posted by ambyzown
No Aya, the sites I tried to access were abujamobile.com and mobilenigeria.com
Like Aalpha suggested, I'll try accessing these sites from my desktop pc, and while I'm at it, I'll pay your site a visit.
Posted by OluYom
@all: I will be a little less visible here from now.
I need to spend more of my time and resources on GoSmartMobile, and a couple of other new commitments I have made in the telecoms industry.
I'll pop in here every now and then sha

We probably wont be missing you much since you'll be HERE spending ur time, expect us there too
Posted by ambyzown
Don't mind mamba, we'll miss you, one 10min visit a day to this site won't hurt your schedule. Pls pop in as often as possible.
Still haven't checked out ur site, my internet connection is down, we complain so much about poor services from GSM operators, but the older PTO's operating within the country are worse.

True words well spoken. Not only the PTOs. The ISPs are just as bad too.
In my opinion, I'll rather stick with the GSM guys. At least, if the connection does not work, you don't pay anything.
The PTOs and ISPs bill you a monthly flat fee whether or not your connection is working. My company dumped Multi-links for that kind of daylight robbery not too long ago.

For the past few days i have noticed MTN's GPRS presence on my set(Sagem Myx-5m), i hope i am not mistaken about it, please if you have a GPRS enabled phone and use MTN, kindly activate your GPRS and switch your phone off and back on, lets have feedback if the GPRS signal stays on, i will be glad to get some configuration settings if MTN is now on GPRS.

I refise to be left out of this link posting exercise!
I'm spending my time and resources on the Nairaland Phone forum at:

This Seun fellow is damn funny.
" I refuse to be left out of this link posting exercise"
Esato is big. Else, I'm sure the moderators would have deleted the entries of all those who find the slightest excuse to post links to their stuff.

In addition to that, the administrator knows that he has little revenue to gain from those of us in Nigeria. We can hardly buy or sell on the Internet.
Posted by ambyzown
Vmobile and Glomobile airtime bonuses, a welcome development. Finally, subscribers in Nigeria are begining to enjoy the benefits of a competitive mobile market. Whenever I load a N1000 glo recharge voucher that cost me N970 my account will be credited with N1150, an instant savings of N180. Great isn't it? _________________ This message was posted from a T610

SInce everyone is busy.... let me also chip in my bit. I am also on sabbatical fixing my sorry self. Its a spiritual thing. I will pop in once in a while. We miss you all. I know this thread will still make it!
Posted by seunosewa
Some of us are still here. My SGH-R220 says there's nothing particularly exciting happening on the MTEL network.
Posted by coolapostle
So, seun, what do you think of the many new forums popping up?
Posted by seunosewa
To be honest, at first I didn't like it. But now I'm beginning to think that it's better to embrace the other forums.
So if a question is asked on nairaland and there are no answers, I won't be ashamed to repost it on the other forums to get an answer and then re-import the answer to nairaland.
Oh, and by the way, we're going commercial, so pray for us.

hey guys i'm still around recently had exams so i couldn't post how was life all thru and all dat? who watches ultimate search here?
Posted by seunosewa
I think I know why people are crazy about Gulder Ultimate Search. We are bombarded on all stations once it's 10pm and you can't watch anything else on television while Gulder Ultimate Search is running.
Anyway, since esato is not a TV forum, I guess it's in order for me to direct you to some active Gulder Ultimate Search discussions on the web.
On http://www.gulderultimatesearch.tv:
The Official Discussion Forum - In just 19 days the official forum has gained more than 800 members. The traffic on the web due to this programme is impressive. It just shows that TV is a powerful way of reaching the masses. I guess I'm going to try radio sometime.
On http://www.nairaland.com
We have three active Gulder Ultimate Search Threads:
Introduction, Meet the Contestants, and What do you love about the programme?
Motla, how were your exams?

The test Result.
A man is lying in bed in the hospital with an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. He is still heavily sedated from a four hour operation. A young nurse comes in to sponge his hands and feet.
Nurse, he mumbles groggily from behind the oxygen mask, are my testicles black?
Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, I don't know, I'm only here to wash your hands and feet.
He struggles again to ask, Please tell me. Are my testicles black?
Finally, she pulls back the covers, raises his gown, holds his privates and jiggles them around a bit, takes a close look and says, There's nothing wrong with them!
Wearily, the man pulls off his oxygen mask and says very slowly, That was very nice but listen very, very closely. Are... my...

Signing Out. Peace.

MTN introduced WAP services to Nigeria. And, yes, it is still working: I still used it 2 nights ago. Find all the info and settings you need here: http://gosmartmobile.com/data.shtml
Posted by brix25
If you guys have been spying the SA thread you might have noticed that MTN started 3G on the hush a couple of week ago. The service will be officially launched on 26 June.
Posted by OluYom
@brix25: Yes; I ran into that bit of news. Good show from MTN-SA.
Can't say the same for MTN-NG where CSD still rules. Shame, really.
Posted by Aalpha001
ME think MTN just wan take them Nigerians for granted.
They offer quality here in SA, but the Nigerians in Nigeria are always complaining.
Something's wrong somewhere... :S
Posted by brix25
They probably can't justify investing in data when most of their users just want voice and sms.
Posted by seunosewa
MTN refuses to make it easy for third parties to exploit their system for profit.
How would they know if there are data services that people are willing to pay for when their current data services are overpriced?
Posted by brix25
3rd parties? Exploit? There's no way that MTN will allow another company to piggyback on it's network to provide services which it's capable of providing. Have you written letters to them asking they haven't launched GPRS yet?
Posted by ambyzown
3G mobile tech in Nigeria? That'll be asking for too much. All MTN need do is ensure that their soon to be launched GPRS service is efficient and affordable, add an attractive homepage, and they're home n dry.
Posted by brix25
Yesterday MTN reported just under a billion dollars in profit for the year. Most it coming from South Africa and Nigeria.

Infairnessto MTN, they do allow such. Mtech provides MTNN's WAP service and some other VAS.
As for writing them, forget the idea. You will NEVER get a response. I have written and gotten none.
@amby: Do you have inside information backing your statement about MTN's "soon-to-be-launched GPRS"?
Posted by ambyzown
@Aya: No inside info on MTN's GPRS, but the fact that GPRS presence is noticeable on the MTN network gives credence to the belief that something is in the offing in that regard.
Posted by OluYom

Yes; I am of the same opinion on that. Well, we wait...
Posted by OluYom
Vmobile has posted information about its GPRS-based services on its website. Not impressive, in my opinion.
Too many restictions. Imagine having to download software to your smartphone to be able to use GPRS - and only some smartphones! Even then, you still dont get Web access. just email and synchronisation. Bah!
Posted by brix25
@AYA: Wait till the Vodacom/Virgin consortium takes over and Vmobile will definitely be offering better data products.
Posted by ambyzown
Very disappointing! What percentage of Vmobile subscribers own smartphones, and what percentage of these actually use their phone's features other than for voice calls, sms or as status symbols? Vmobile's target market is quite limited. Moreover, why would I want to sync via GPRS when I can do it for free using bluetooth or data cable?
Posted by mamba
These Vmobile guys are BLIND.....
Posted by egunjespoilagos
I have a hunch they know what they are doing. The system resources that would have to be dedicated to GPRS if there were to be no restrictions would probably make their whole network even more unstable.
I am more concerned with the awoof promtions they have on
How have you guys been?
