@AYA; what is mobile nigeria; glo is upgrading their uniport cell site but we still can't call reltel and vice verse, mtel cannot always call mtn and their SMS is messed. my posts still read 1 and i don't know what is wrong with me or is it esato.
Posted by egunjespoilagos
otoks: if you find the answer to the post thing please let me know.
Brm(i think): I used a friend's reltel tosh and it was a faily good browsing experince. It may be worth a look.
Posted by Angelgirl
@Cool, i think seuns reason to lock up mobile nigeria is understandable since he says its not viewable thru wap, i browsed the nairaland on wap thru http://nairaland.com/?wap2 and was able to login, read and repy post to the new mobile nigeria which is a sub-forum, there. Though not as rich as the old mobile nigeria we all know, but its picking up. The guy has great plans for that forum, though he is going to need a lot of help and hardwork to achieve it.
@AYA, if i upgrade my phone, do i need to make another request to glo for mms and wap, or i just configure the new phone and start browsing since my simm is already provisioned?
@ALL, you guys should help me say a big 'Thank You' to brym for the glo recharge card (this means more browsing on wap) he sent to me, am grateful brym, (you know i was only pulling your legs, but thanks anyway).
Posted by OluYom
@oto: www.mobilenigeria.com is a mobile phone forum.
@angel: No; just put the settings in your new phone and there you go. About mobile nigeria; those were not the reasons seun gave me. If its an issue of accessibility via WAP, I know that he is more than competent enough to effect that.
Posted by mamba
@Brym thanks on behalf of Angel. Nairaland is very good. Angel, all u need is input the settings into ur new phone & ur browsing straight away, so far ur line is activated.

guys bye i'll come back later my time is out
Posted by mamba
Motla, it all depends on the network having better coverage in your area although I'll suggest you go for glo which has the highest rating for now (NCC), plus added bonus of gprs wap, mms and 805 sms which is free till september.
for your phone, it depends on how much you have to spend and the features you want in ur phone.
post ur budget and i'm sure I and AYA can make good suggestions for you.....

Mamba, luk like u r one keepingwatch tonite,Brym were are u!

Angel still awake, guess you'll be tha assistant watchman or watchwoman.
AYA you need to check this out, it's gonna save you more than half of what you spend on GPRS /month.Opera Mobile Accelerator

Every1 slept while Angel kept watch!
Posted by Angelgirl
Who knows d wapsite addy 4 yahoo messger?
Posted by OluYom
@mamba: I know about the Opera accelerator, and used it on my P800. Unfortunately, Nokia "over-customized" the Opera browser on the 9500. As such, the accelerator does not "recognize" the 9500 browser as Opera. Shame!
Posted by Areafada
@Memba & Aya congrates on ur fone & welcome aboard d 9 hundred followish.
@angelgirl same thing about the yahoo messenger, anytime I load the page it just blanks out.
@every1 has any idea if hotmail wap has begun operating?
Posted by OluYom
@area:Thanks. I have links to Hotmail & Messenger WAPsites at http://gosmartmobile.com/usefulwap.shtml
There are other useful WAP links there as well.
I use Agile Messenger for instant messaging on my 9500. It supports Yahoo, MSN, ICQ & AOL. But again, Yahoo tends to have connection problems every now and then. Or maybe the problem is with AgileM itself :-/

Guys, Brym just got a Sendo X series 60 smartphone! I told you its a season of new phones - smartphones for that matter!

why does glo and I think other gsm company insist on a security deposit when they cut you off as soon as their set limit is reached.
case in point, glo's business 400, where you pay N9000 monthly and are cut off when you have spent N6000. Leaving N3000 revolving as a free float for Adenuga.
It is the same with IDD where they require a N10000 deposit but none of their overpaid staff can explain why they require the deposit when one's credit limit is N6000.
At least this is what I have gleaned from the explanation offered by various customer care staff I have spoken to.
Posted by mamba
egunje, I dont think those glo customer care have the right info, I've called them several times and they have outdated info.
for business 400 all you need is 5k for deposit plus 9k for 400mins to be loaded on ur phone for 1month usage.
Brym, congrats on the purchase of ur new sendo X, how much did you get it for?
Posted by OluYom
@Brym!: That's the glory of having a smartphone. You can customize it to your satisfaction.
I spent the first few days of my 9500 doing that too. Now, I am "satisfied", until a new "killer app" is released.
Contract packages always have their funny bits, that being the reason most people keep off.
Again, I agree that most CC people know very little about their own networks' services. i have gotten the short end of the stick from Glo CC the last 2 weeks. I don't care to tell the story here, as I am tired of talking.
God save us from CC

I've this joke I wish to share with every proudly Nigerian forum member

New phones AYA? Hmmm... ok maybe. But definitely nothing over 20k. Since Mobile Nigeria is closing down, I am seriously considering creating a mobile phone forum for my subs. I think it is imperative. Just letting U all know. I don't have enough disk space in my free 5k hosting service yet, but that will be solved soon.

A wife came home one day to find a letter saying the following: To My
Dear Wife, You
will surely understand that I have certain needs that you
with your 54 years
can no longer supply. I am very happy with you and I
value you as a
good wife.
Posted by Areafada
Therefore after reading this fax, I hope that
you will not
wrongly interpret the fact that I will be spending the
evening with
Posted by Areafada
with my
18-year old secretary at the Comfort Inn Hotel. Please
don't be
perturbed. I shall be back home before midnight.
When the man came
home, he found the following letter on the dining room
table:
Posted by Areafada
My Dear
Husband,
I received your
fax and thank you for your honesty. I would like to take
this opportunity
to remind you that you are also 54 years old. At the
same time I would
like to inform you that while you read this,
Posted by Areafada
you that while you read this, I will be
at the Hotel
Fiesta with Michael my tennis coach, who like your
secretary, is also
18 years old. As a successful businessman and with
your excellent
knowledge of Maths, you will understand that we are in
the same
situation, although with one small difference. 18 goes into 54
a lot more times
than 54 goes into 18. Therefore I will not be back
before lunchtime
tomorrow.

Thanks guys.
If the mobile site is shutting down, we really would need somewhere to hang out

Well, I am very comfortable hanging out here. This is not to disparage the shutting down of MN, but it does remind me of what someone recently said to me about most Nigerian projects being short-lived. MN was running on full steam. It was kicking dust - generating traffic and stimulating real discussions. IMO, you do not kill a winning idea.
The "new MN" at Nairaland is so... dry. And very little stimulating issues are being discussed in the other threads.
Those other threads could have been integrated into MN, just like Esato has mobile-free threads. Or simply allow MN and Nairaland to co-exist.
Ahhh... I talk too much. Thankfully, Esato is still here, and I jolly well feel at home

AYA: I saw your gosmart ad in guardian. had an ad out myself.
We may discuss building a site for my company when we are ready.
how's the phone?
Posted by coolapostle
Yeah, MoNg was really cool. Oh, well. Tomorrow is a holiday. What are your plans guys? @Angel Your Yahoo Messenger has been noted. If it works, it will be the major reason why I will fix my phone next week! BTW It was nice to see your posts coming at night!
Posted by OluYom
@egunje: The 9500 is what I call the "Ultimate Communicator". Believe me when I say I am able to do "everything" on it. If only Glo would solve the GPRS problem on my cell.
Posted by egunjespoilagos
why don't we have a party here sometime. we give everybody notice and we all get and stay online at the same time. just to make noise small.
what do you guys think

anyone know about blackberry in our enviroment
Posted by Areafada
@angelgirl, I tried ur link & the yahoo mm did not load.
@egunje, who/what is a blackberry? or do u mean the fone manufacturing coy.
Posted by brym!
@ mamba, got it for 24.5k. A real robbery for a smartphone and believe me this set handles the symbian sw like any nokia smartphone and beats the nokia 6600,7610 and 6670 in compact size, stunning mp3 player and availability of 32mb user memory.
@ Areafada, will send you an mms when I get my new contract line tomorrow.
@all, how about this for a holiday joke....
After digging to a depth of 100 meters last year,
Russian scientists found traces of copper wire dating
back 1000 years, and came to the conclusion that their
ancestors already had telephone network 1000 years
ago. So not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed,
American scientists dug 200 metres and headlines in
the US papers read: "US scientists have found traces
of 2000 year old optical fibres, and concluded that
their ancestors already had advanced high-tech digital
telephone 1000 years earlier than the Russians." One
week later, the Nigerian newspapers reported the
following: "After digging as deep as 500
metres,Nigerian scientists have found absolutely
nothing. They have concluded that 5000 years ago,
their ancestors were already using wireless.
Posted by OluYom
@brym: You've got me in stitches with that one
Where did you dig that joke up from?
@egunje: Blackberry is not supported by any operator here, plus you may have to wait an eternity for it.
An online party is interesting. But getting everyone together at the same time will be a hurdle.
Posted by egunjespoilagos
Damn, you beat me to it.....a friend sent me the joke a few days ago.
Its still funny though
AYA: About the online party, we just give notice and maybe a teaser like what we will yak about. Why don't you moot it, maybe suggest a time and lets see what happens.
Pity about the blackberry. Didn't think anyone would be offering it.
Blackberry: manufactuer, of handsets, software and operator of dedicated servers that handles email. Main advantage: Ability to "push" email, as opposed to the regular "pull".......abi AYA
