Angel, ask Aya to help you with that, I'm sure he knows most of those engineers cos he's using glodirect.

Since you've called 121 and asked for provisioning of ur SIM, you'll have to wait for the settings and a message telling you your glomms online password before you can use the service.

just be a lil patient and pls dont go on strike o!

@cool: are u kidding me? that zim thread was started by a non-zim and there are no zims there (yet)

@Tilly Good Luck in ur exams

Posted by brym!
@Tilly, Good luck.

@Angel,Go to Glo office @ Adeola Odeku, there's a guy there who configures lines for GPRS in minutes.
@ All, I hope this will not be the only post for the day.

Posted by brix25
@brym!: This certainly won't be the only post for the day. I finally configured Yamigo for my K700i and it's been working just fine albeit a bit slow for MSN. Anyone use the "My Friends" chat client on the K700?

Posted by mamba
brix, what's yamigo and how do i configure it, i've a k700 and interested.

Posted by Angelgirl
@brym! If u promise there will be no qeue when i get there, then will check them next week.

Posted by brix25
@mamba: Yamigo uses the built-in chat client in K700 to connect to either MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger or AIM...go to Yamigo.com to get connected.

Posted by brym!
@brix, I don't think glo mobile supports connecting to chart sites like MSN or Yahoo messenger. So no yamigo 4 us! @ Angel , no queue to see the GPRS guy. By the way where ur Broda, Aya?

Posted by brix25
@brym!: I think you need to test it before giving up hope of chatting to friends and family.

Posted by Angelgirl
@Brym; Check AYA @ www.mobilenigeria.com he is hapenning there!

Hi all.... Greetings from Maiduguri! U ain't seen "hot" until U walk around here in the afternoon. I can see everyone is alive and well. @Angel How far with the Glo GPRS thing? @all HAS ANYONE EVER VISTED CNN's WAP site? It did not work when I tried. Also Y! messenger is one service i would LOVE to use on my phone, but so far, no show. Comments please.

Posted by ihejirika
Hi all! @coola,take it easy with ur phone accident.Hope its recovering fast frm injuries. @Tilly,I wish u d best in exams.

Posted by brix25
@coolapostle: I think CNN Mobile is not a free service...can't get over normal wap. If you've got a K700, 6230 or V600 try out Yamigo...all you need is a GPRS connection. BTW Cape Town is hot today, enjoying the last days of summer.

Posted by mamba
coola, yahoo messenger or java chat clients can never work on ur mobile via glo without full internet account aka GLODIRECT.

You can try wapsites via pc with OPERA before using ur mobile phones

Brix, i wanna try this yamigo stuff, i do i get it?

ihe, welcome back

Posted by OluYom
Features like email, chat, web, ftp, etc all need either an internet (not wap) gprs connection or csd connection

Posted by ihejirika
@Aya,welcome back 2 PNF @brym,thanks 4 remindg thos who forgot my real name.Wher can I buy d dual SIM slot device? @Angel,tot I shld officially welcome u 2 gloworld. @coola,make u no bathe with cold water.A doctor gave tht advice.

Posted by brix25
@mamba: If you got anyone of those phones...there actually several more that I omitted than head over to www.yamigo.com...register, and use the simple instructions to get either MSN, Yahoo or AIM working on your phone via the built-in chat client.

Posted by mamba
ok, i'm goin to yamigo right now, I just hope it will work with a wap account cos i dont have full internet account.

I can now use my k700i to browse the web via PC internet connection and java webviewer....cool......

Posted by OluYom
@mamba: I am interested in the outcome of the yamigo experiment. @ehi: you and broom should not be welcoming anyone back :-D

Posted by ihejirika
I found it difficult trying 2 open "reply" link.I wonder what esato is up to this time. @brym,dont u think its high time we called in a reputable optician. At this rate,I refuse 2 believe tht Aya's mistake is deliberate.

Posted by OluYom
lol

Posted by ihejirika
Glo added another feather 2 their red cap last week.U can now view ur last 5 bank account transactions from ur phone.

Posted by OluYom
Is it active yet?

Posted by ihejirika
It was launched in February & activated March 1.A long list of banks r involved. It cost N40 for each viewing.Activating code is available at ur bank(if it is listed)

Posted by brix25
@ihe: Check this my bank sends me an sms everytime there's activity on my account either a deposit or withdrawl. Tells me the amount of money deposited/withdrawn or transferred with my latest bank balance...now that's a good service.

Posted by ihejirika
@brix,thts nice. Some banks also offer online banking. This Glo service is d 1st broad based gsm service tht allows subs 2 view transactns frm their phones via sms.It can b repeated as often as desired so far as phone credit is not in red.

Posted by OluYom
@ihe: I am aware of all the details.Good initiative, but First Atlantic's mobile banking service is still cheaper (N15 or less).

Posted by ihejirika
It seems tht Glo is compensatg gprs subs 2day.I noticed tht I'v not been billed since afternoon.

Posted by ihejirika
@Aya,it pays 2 stick wth y2k5 compliant banks & also good 2 stick with y2k5 compliant networks.Glo is yet 2 bill my gprs activities.I tried a free phone call & was mercilessly billed.

Posted by ihejirika
Guys,I'm targetg brym's 2000th post award.Dont let d cat out of d bag.Hoping tht mamba is at any of d no gprs zones.

Posted by OluYom
@ihe: I pity you. your gprs bill will arrive soon enough. I would watch it if I were you :)

Posted by brym!
@ Ihe, my broda welcome back jare!!! No mind Aya!! We go soon change him name to Ajax or Ajasco...

Posted by brym!
@AYA, so is it easy to access yahoo messenger & other chart sites easily on ur mobile using glo direct?

Posted by coolapostle
Hi Guys, just got into Abuja. I visited my folks in the villa. In Maiduguri, I browsed at a cybercafe where ALL the PC's had Netscape! In Jos, I browsed in another with Opera. Quite strange. @Tilly, Goodluck in your Exams!

Posted by OluYom
@brym!: yup! they all work like a dream. @cool: nigeria is catching up with the rest of the world. netscape and opera have advantages you wont find on internet explorer.

Posted by 2tek
Browsed with netscape once and it wasn't too bad,but i hvnt wit opera b4. I gess the fad in 9ja is ie.
Chelsea is beating Barca 2day!

Posted by brym!
@ 2tek, sorry broda cos Chelsea is gonna get whipped tonite. Man U? They can still pull a suprise... The Man U factor. Arsenal? OUT! Liverpool? IN 4 next round.

Posted by ihejirika
Vmobile launched their mms/gprs wap yestday.I called them 2day 2 get d settings but was told tht they r still testing d service, they "ll sms d settings when they r ready(Vee custom & tradition) @brym,nice 2 hav u back.

Posted by brym!
@Ihe, Vmobile...gprs/mms? Surprise! Surprise!! Where is MTN? Still covering Nigeria...no added value. Any news on when Mtel will launch gprs sevice?

Posted by coolapostle
MTEL says end of March. That is one thing I like Vmobile! They can spring surprises. They beat MTN to launch per second billing (even though MTN made all the noise) I saw the launch on TV but was not clear if it was corporate clients or for agberos. I am sure the adverts will hit the papers this week. @YAYA and Angelboy (since we can twist names these days) Is MobileNigeria.com down? Been trying to visit the site but...

Posted by OluYom
Good to have vee on the gprs train. But which one is it launching a service that is still being tested? Politics! MTN, agbepo :D @cola: the site was up when I checked this morning o.

Posted by ihejirika
Vee ppl (ready or not) r just trying 2 claim 2 have made it b4 others. Its in their character. @brym,it seems God of soccer is carryg a British passport 2nyt.

Posted by Areafada
@cooler I like that YAYA, Up Chelsea, say was surprised when chelsea beat Barca,Like we say in Nigeria football is not Mathematics(were problems always ave d same result when solved) But in football Barca vs Chelsea can be played 10 times & 10 different result/score will be gotten.

Posted by brym!
@Ihe, so much 4 my predictions; lets see how Arsenal and Liverpool will fair today. The first person with Vee settings should post it here.. Hope their gprs tariff will be friendly...anything cheaper than glo is ok.

Posted by coolapostle
Me thinks only MTEL can go lower than Glo. they may use Glo's tariffs as a "benchmark". That means very expensive MMS!

Posted by OluYom
To receive vmobile gprs settings, text your phone name and model to 184

Posted by OluYom
vmobile sent me their 'gprs' settings and its CSD! Apparently the vee customer service guy I spoke with does not know the difference between gprs and csd. please!

Posted by OluYom
Anyone who needs the new Vmobile CSD settings can visit http://gosmartmobile.com/vmobiledatasettings.shtml

I'll also have a full review of it there soon. I visited their WAP portal this morning and all it had was the vmobile logo!
