@ mamba; thanks, i am still thinking of getting the line or not, if activating my wap is going to take as long as when mtn goes internet, then i better wait for mtn, i think with the competition at hand now, they will be forced to go internet sooner or later.

Posted by coolapostle
@mamba Those ur phones expensive o! None of them is a camera phone ko? PM me your lowest prices and how long u have been using them. @all My second day without a phone! E get as e be. I just might get used to it. I am trying to get a friend that I had borrowed my first phone to, but no show...

Posted by mamba
Angel the stuff doesn't really take time, maybe 3 days max. There's nothing free on MTN, very boring. Coola there's only Sagem Myx5 & nokia 3310 remaining, that's like going from Lexus to beetle for you!

Posted by OluYom
@angel: MTN's already gone Internet - only, they make you pay through your nose for it Go get the glo line and stop twiddling your thumbs

@AYA; u know say i be ijebu before, and glo can not easiliy chop my money, i have been trying test a colleague's Glo line in the office here, have configured her wap/gprs, she uses Motorola C350, sent a request to glo for wap, and still waiting for reply, i wish someone can just sell me an already activated line, brym! any line available?

Posted by mamba
Angel, there are 2 things involved in activating a glo line. you have to call glo on 121 first & ask them to activate ur sim for internet, after that you'll wait for a day or 2 days for the confirmation message input the settings & you're on.

Area, a fair comparison will be btw p910 & 9500. there's a qwerty keyboard on p910 flip, touch screen with handwriting recognition, better screen(256k), unlimited symbian foftwares online including Ms word & Exell, high capacity memory stick duo pro with gigs of memory, longer battery life.

Posted by OluYom
The comparison game. One thing is sure: you will never be able to convince everyone that phone A is better than B. Never

@mamba: one area which quite important is that the 9500 is WiFi ready...now if the P910 had EDGE support I might have been swayed in my opinion.

Posted by Areafada
One thing I agree is that SE has got a better Bat life than Nokia, Mate don't get me wrong ere once ur battery is runin low, simply plug & recharge ur fone, I don't see dt as an ADVANTAGE, unless we r considerin NEPA factor.
9500 comes with Ms Word
Ms Powerpoint Presentation.
Ms Execl Worksheet, (U DONT AVE 2 DOWNLOAD)
Symbian Os
@memba, dont worry I've just ordered for a Cellphone Magazine 4m Jand, it should come in this Morning, I will give everybody loads of reason why P900i is no match for 9500, thank Goodness both fone r 9....something. easier comparism.
@coola how r u coping with a broken fone? I'm just imagining u receiving a call, it will be so funny, Microfone wit the connectin wires danglin, ur loudspeaker still with the broken fone, u look like any actor in one of those black & white (MGM) movies where they brandish those 1 generation table fone, pls don't take this personal I just imagining.

Posted by OluYom
I pretty much prefer the 9300 to 9500. I dont need wi-fi or the camera, plus the form factor is more compact. Very handy, in my opinion.

Posted by mamba
9500 processor is quite slow & a lot of users complain that the phone is very slow the second complaint is the size, this phone is really huge, long & weighs over 200g. i stil prefer p910 or imate sp3 or imate jam pda phones. i'd rather buy a small laptop combined wth a cheap phone or a pocket pc phone instead of =N=135,000 Nokia 9500.

Posted by OluYom
@Mamba: I prefer one handy device. Of course, our needs differ. My office is anywhere I am. As such a phone and laptop combination is out of the question for me. Did you see my PM?

Posted by Angelgirl
@AYA, can u forward your line to another number? i tried it, but when i called my line it was not reachable, if its possible let me know how i can do it.

Posted by OluYom
@angel: Yes, you can. go into the "Divert" menu in your phone and choose whether you want to divert all calls or you want selective divert. Then when prompted, type in the number you want your calls to be diverted to.

Have you purchased your Glo line yet? If yes, how about GPRS activation?

Posted by Angelgirl
@ Aya; have just sent for the line, last week the qeue was long, hope to get it 2day, so i can start activating immediately, do u activate GPRS seperately or its automatically on as u activate ur simm?

Posted by OluYom
Once you insert your SIm in your phone, call 121 and request for activation of GPRS. Ask that they also send the auto settings for WAP and MMS to your phone.

When you receive the settings, just save them to your phone.

It may take between 24 and 48 hours for everything to start working.

Posted by Angelgirl
Aya; ok thanks, just recieved my simm now! will take off immediately.

Hi Guys, my phone is with a repair man. 9k will bring it out. I missed an important Seminar bcos of this lack of phone. One thing I have learnt is to regularly backup (synchronise) my contacts every Friday. I last did it in December 2004 but I also add new numbers weekly and so it is still a little stale. People, learn from my mistake... BACKUP AND PRINT A HARD COPY OF YOUR CONTACTS TODAY!

Posted by OluYom
Good, practical advice from coolapostle there, guys.

@angel: Welcome. I'll welcome you to Glo by sending you an SMS followed by a phone call. Any celebrations

Done. Please PM your new Glo line to me as well.

AYA your are right about MTN and call diverts, u know when i diverted my MTN to GLO it didnt work but i now diverted my Glo to MTN line, and it worked, i can now recieve calls from my MTN and GLO on one set. so am very reachable now, cant wait to activate my wap next week .

Posted by OluYom
@ANGEL: if your glo is now diverted to mtn, how do you now use your glo for wap?

Posted by Angelgirl
When wap is ready on my glo, will be switching sims when i need wap, cant do away with my mtn, most pple know me with it.

Posted by Angelgirl
@Aya; or better still, i use another set for my MTN line, but i dont like carrying several phones, there is a facility that allows one to use two sims in one set, can i use it in my sagem?, if yes, how much can i get it now?

Posted by OluYom
@angel: I should think so. It should cost between 2.5k and 4k now.

Got one of those today; the manual version cost me 3.5k. The automatic version that switches between 2 lines cost 4.5k.
@Angel, sorry my new glo line is delibrately "GPRS Inactivated" till sometime next month... my own way of dealing with addictions.

Posted by OluYom
@brym!: Finally, you show up after how many weeks of absence. It looks like yourself and ehi are doing some GPRS-fasting.

Good for the pockets, ey?

Ehi!! Where in WAP-space is Ehi?!

@mamba "Could this b the ultimate communicator? It's a pocket computer with 80MB of memory, loads of business software, WiFi access & even a camera. Oh, it's also a mobile fone,NOTHING else comes close to being a true mobile office" The carfone warehouse magazine. February 2005 issue.
I rest my case your Highness.
These r facts from specialist.
@angelgirl welcome to GLO, sure we all ave smthing in common, glo with PRIDE on PROUDLY(PRIDLY) Nigerian forum.
can anybody dt has it, txt angelgirl's fone nu 2 me?

Posted by mamba
Aya got ur PM & replied. Angel welcome to glo, the most stable line in town now with the least network problems + 805 free sms. You can use 2 sims in 1 for most handset models but i thought i heard someone say it doesn't work for sagem cos of retained current in sim when switched off, your sim's gonna be butchered by cutting into halves for 2 sims to enter one holder.

Posted by brix25
@AYA you confused me there...2 sim's in one phone?

Posted by OluYom
@brix25: yes, there is a small device in the market here that allows you to use 2 SIMs on your handset. i have used it before - back when I had the T230 - and it works fine.

Of course, you can only access one network at a time. But you can switch at your convenience without having to open up your handset battery compartment.

Posted by brix25
AYA:Obviously the device is external. Haven't seen it locally although I've heard about it being sold in Europe.

Posted by OluYom
@brix: No, its internal. Nothing sticks out of the phone.

Posted by brym!
@Aya, na wa o! Ihe has only been absent for one week... you don change him name to Ehi. At this rate you will soon call me broom! . LOL

Posted by OluYom
@broom: That is what you get for going AWOL :-D

Posted by mamba
That's true guys, what happened to Ihe? someone's got to find out.

Posted by brix25
Any new developments in the Nigerian mobile telecoms market? In SA talk has been that MTN might pull a rabbit out of the hat and launch a 3.5G(HSDPA) service when it eventually launches in 3Q...You heard it here first.

Posted by OluYom
@brix: what is HSDPA? never heard of that before

Posted by brix25
Just search Google, can't exactly spell it out myself but it's the evolution of current 3G.

Posted by mamba
hey, where's everybody?

Posted by brix25
I can't sleep because my nose is blocked from a cold and I'm not in the mood to go to work tomorow.

Posted by mamba
sorry about that brix

i think you should get some sleep then...
