@mamba,I'm grateful 4 tht.I'm yet 2 send my 1st mms since 19th Nov.Its just tht I dont feel alright wth incomplete settings.Can u imagine,I calld glo 4 d settg,they asked me 2 go 2 thier office.70k/kb is a snake in green grass.

does it mean that mtn & vmobile 2g networks aren't capable of GPRS?
Posted by mamba
Those glo customer help line guys are not even qualified for their job.
Most of them dont even know much about their network, they always offer wrong solutions.
Posted by ihejirika
Glo doesnt have any rival as far as gprs is concerned.
Posted by OluYom
MTN & Vee have to carry out an overhaul of their obsolete networks, withdraw their 16kb SIMs from all existing subscribers & eplace with minimum of 32k in order to be able to offer GPRS.
Posted by mamba
I still have my p800 but I only use the multimedia features, for surfing via GPRS and for receiving calls since outgoing calls keep dropping.
Many call centers now make GSM calls for as low as =N=15, thanks to Vmobiles range of BUMPA cards.
Vmobile is probably the cheapest network with customer friendly tarrifs and free stuffs.......
I've decided to switch from MTN to Vmobiles V-step...
Posted by mamba
What else does 2.5g offer when compared to 2g apart from GPRS(wap and mms)
Posted by OluYom
@mamba: About V's free stuff; my wife use V. They give her free SMS but chooce which SMS she sends and when the free thing applies. So she has 10 free SMS, but she sends one now & she's billed. At another time, its free. Hogwash!

Yes!Customr care ppl sit in office answerg cals wthout knowg wht is happeng outside.Weeks aftr I learnt of MTN Virtual Top Up,a cousin of mine who works at MTN customr care does not know of its existence whn I askd him 2 xplain it 2 me.
Posted by OluYom
MTN customer care couldn't configure my phone for WAP. I did it & was browsing in minutes. Glo customer care can't explain difference between WAP & GPRS, & can't tell that a P800 is GPRS-enabled. What do they know?!
Posted by whizkidd
Read AYA's interview! Cool AYA! Expect my interview anytime soon! Regards, whiz.
Posted by OluYom
@whizkidd: Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Anyone else wants to access it via WAP: http://wap.esato.com/board/wap.php?tp=74538&s=454&sid=92011970#esato
Posted by brix25
@AYA...that's really bad customer care from both networks... Down here you get sent GPRS settings direct to your phone this is done by entering a special USSD network code.
Posted by OluYom
@brix25: To be fair to Glo, they also do OTA provisioning, but man, their custmer care ppl can be ignorant. MTN Nigeria? You have to go see them, & even then there is no guarantee they can set you up.
Posted by mamba
aya, mtn has wap but they dont advertise it, why?
I setup my sagem v55 for mtn wap and I must confess, it's really expensive. Is there any cheaper means?
Posted by brix25
@AYA...MTN is giving Nigerians the short end of the stick when it comes 2 customer service...in SA It's a different story from MTN.
Posted by ihejirika
On Vmobile, thier steps r really customer friendly despite thier shotcomings.D 12free sms 'll ultimatly force down sms price.
Posted by OluYom
@brix25: A really sad situation we have here with MTN. They could have been brilliant but they chose the path of mediocrity, spending millions on publicity to look good instead.
Posted by mamba
glo and vmobile are grabbing MTNs customers at a faster rate than I expected.
I know about 30 guys that have switched from Mtn to other networks for good.
14 call centers I know now use vmobile/glo
What's happening to MTN?
Posted by OluYom
MTN Nigeria is imploding - collapsing in on itself (not financially speaking though). Its the reward of being snubbish and not being proactive. Maybe they'll end up in slot number 3.
Posted by ihejirika
MTN prefers 2 kill d goose tht lays d golden eggs.I'm waitg 2 hear how much profit they "ll declare at d end of this year.I expect a huge fall in thier profit margin due 2 viable rivals.
Posted by ihejirika
I dont have d exact figures but I know MTN Nig 2002 profit was in excess of N80b after tax. Then,d then Econet declared about N6b.MTN declared over N90b-2003 profit.2004 may still b high but 2005 "ll force them 2 change thier attitude.

well, I dont give a damn about MTN cos they're the least customer friendly network, the people I know that still use MTN are frequent travellers whom are concerned about coverage while travelling.
MTN uses default /min charging for new subscribers and charge =N=100 for switching to /second.
Of recent they claim you can now switch to /sec for free but you still have to register for MTN4U, why? even after that, you still find it difficult to switch still.
After switching to /sec and you load a boostercard, they still change you back to /minute platform when booster expires.
You have to pay =N=50 to imput numbers in friends and family.
They keep introducing rip-off platforms which proves they're all about cheating Nigerians.
I dont understand why they have packages like FLEXI or PRO-TIME which doesn't make sense.
Bye MTN.

I suspect that when MTN claims to have 2.8m subscribers, the 0.8 on top haven't used their SIM in the last 2 months bos they have cross-carpeted to either Glo or Vee. Forget Mtel o jare.

Wake up, everybody. Wake up Nigeria. Its going to be a great day! Someone said that today is "friday". I know that lots of people are looking forward to the public holiday, but comin so soon after xmas & the new year, I am not.
Posted by ihejirika
Ppl love holidays & yet complain of bad economy. In some other parts of d world, ppl reject it when govt declares unnecessary public holidays.
Posted by mamba
so NIGERIANS are lazy right?
Posted by ihejirika
I wont use d word "lazy".Nigerians dont like working bcos they feel tht they stand 2 loose nothing by not workg. We expect everythng frm either God or Govt forgetg tht d holy book state tht a man reaps exactly what he sowed.
Posted by OluYom
Nigerians love anything FREE. Public holidays are free; right?
Posted by ihejirika
I think tht nothing is free.Someone paid 2 make it free at consumptn level.Holidays r free 4 an average person/salary earner but what we overlook is tht someone, somehow pays 4 it in terms of loses.
Posted by OluYom
@ihe: To be sure, the employer pays for the holiday. But I guess most employee couldn't care less.
Posted by ihejirika
@Aya,if d employee have a stake in d company,he "ll b concerned about d health of d company when most part of a month is spent on holidays.Nigeria's situation is unique bcos d govt is d largest employer of labour. We need 2 privatise more.

@Ihe, "Present Sir!!!
Wow! that was some mean 'MTN bashing' from every angle; I think they deserve it.
These business owners keep complaining of too many holidays.Me, I am enjoying them. That's why I can say" Happy Holidays" from the bottom of my heart.

Barka da salla everyone. Had an eventful trip back. I am resting at home and lonely too.
Posted by brym!
@coola, lonely? No more dinners with Esato's first lady or has she left Abuja? (Can't believe am doing the Aya stuff).
@ihe, if the FG declares a holiday, enjoy it. Seriously I have never heard of workers( or employees in this case) going on strike demanding for more hols? Where does laziness come in?

@ihe: I agree. Or a percentage of their monthly salary should be tied to productivity @coola: Get up & go visit your girlfriend :-D
Posted by ihejirika
@Aya,exactly!Tht way they "ll reject public holidays whenever they hear of it.
Posted by ihejirika
@brym,I bet ur suggestion about enjoyg public holidays will change if % policy is introduced at ur work place.
