Ladies and gents in da house, I am getting very bored with my P800. I hardly use a phone for more than 4 months, and this one has lasted 7+. Now I need a change but I am finding it difficult to find a replacement. This phone is hard to replace. Help!

What do I need in a phone? GPRS. WAP. Large Colour display. Infra-red. Bluetooth. Good battery life. FM radio. Large internal memory.

Camera NOT necessary. Any reliable manufacturer will do.

Posted by mamba
@aya, do you need a basic phone, symbian or windows mobile? i'm posting from Okija

Posted by OluYom
@mamba: A smartphone will do: Symbian, Windows or any other platform will do. So will a regular phone with advanced business and connectivity features.

Posted by coolapostle
Mamba, wentin U de do for Okija? Are U in Tilly's school too? Just wondering.... @all My travelling starts on Monday to Ogun State

Posted by OluYom
A member of this thread had this to say of me in an SMS I received today: "i'd always thot of u as 1 overweight man reekin of money (no offence meant) bt after viewin ur profile,i see how wrong i was". Hope you are reeling in laughter as I was after reading it.

Posted by mamba
was on my way to crossriver & had to stop at okija to fix a lil prob with the car.

Posted by mamba
aya, check out O2x2 or motorolla mpx 220 for windows mobile, nokia 3230 for symbian or k700i. these are all cool

Posted by OluYom
xda o2 is out of the question; dont like the form factor & Im not enthusiastic about touchscreen only. MPx was a valid prospect till I read reviews saying it was full of bugs. 3230? I'll take a look. S700i: no way man, no way!

Posted by bennie
Wt's up guys? Glad to be back. Changed my sick fon to a nokia. Pls fil me in on wt's been happenin.

Posted by OluYom
@bennie: Hi there. What phone were you using & what was wrong with it? Which Nokia are you hanging around with now?

Posted by bennie
AYA: so glad to be back. Was 4merly usin a samsung E715, now it's a nokia 6230, quite cool tho. So wt's been happenin?

Posted by mamba
aya, not O2xda. i'm talking about O2xii, my brother bought the nokia 6230 & had to switch for k700i which is the same price & much better.

Posted by OluYom
@mamba: Will have to go take a look at d O2xii then, but I've never been a fan of O2 phones sha. @bennie: I dey. You might need to go thru this thread from the point you left off earlier. Should cost you about N1,000 of GPRS browsing :-D

@bennie,welcome back. @mamba,I wish u a safe journey.What do u make of d current condition of Onitsha/Owerri road?

Posted by mamba
ihe, it's the worst road on planet earth. journeying through the east is really terrible. i also found out that onitsha is the cleanest state capital with the best roads in nigeria!!

@Ihe, just dropped in to mark " present sir" for this week. So stop all attempts to include my name on MIA list.

@Aya, I think you already know what you want and its in the market now...the 9500 price:130-140k. Tripplesea sold it at a give away price for 118k this week. So you dont want the 9500's camera ? Put a plaster over it. or go for P910... the small keyboard? forget it exist, use the virtual keyboard!

@all, see y'all sooner!!!!!

Posted by ihejirika
@brym,nice 2 hear frm u.Actually,we operate a daily attendance register.Not weekly. @mamba,ur testimony is different frm 100% of thos tht travelled tht road recently.A change is going on 4 d 1st time since d end of d civil war.

Posted by OluYom
@brym!: I am not sure that I know what I want now. The 9500 & P910 are both good devices though. I'm still looking. You shouldnt spend that kind of money in haste, you know :-)

This thread seems to be a little sleepy these days. Seems like everyone spent their pockets in December and can't afford to browse now

While I do not know for sure whether that's what's behind our sleepy thread, I do wonder why people repeat that same mistake every year? Its insanity doing things the same way they have always been done and expecting different results.

Posted by Rhino8
Do you think your topic is sleepy ours is worse.

who has any idea how much it costs to retrieve a stolen line (welcome back pack) from mtn.

@mamba, i think its the same thing as the price of a new one N1,000

Posted by ihejirika
@Aya,I think d interview s interestg.Whatz d role of a moderator of a thread?

Posted by OluYom
@Rhino: I can imagine. @ehi: Simply put, a moderator enforces the rules & helps maintain the sanctity (and sanity) of each thread. @all: Wanted 2 convert my classic line to postpaid, so went to glo opebi. They said they were out of postpaid lines. Imagine!

Posted by mamba
Is it better to get a line replaced for =N=1,000 plus police report and others which will eventually cost =N=2,000 plus wasting of time at mtn friendship center.

or to simply get a new line for =N=1,000.

Posted by Rhino8
Out of post paid lines, what a silly thought.

Posted by OluYom
@rhino: Never heard of such a thing in my life! A network out of postpaid lines. I was dumbfounded.

Posted by ihejirika
Is there anyone who still have d settings 4 mms?I really need them.Someone took my phone & tampered wth d settings.I remember tht an sms (activate mms handset make) "ll b sent 2 a number.I cant recall d number.

Posted by mamba
@ihe

activate mms (phone brand) (phone model) SEND to 667

Posted by OluYom
@ ihe: Nobody I know still sends MMS on Glo.

Posted by mamba
@aya, that's true

glo ought to have reduced the price to /kb sent and not /50kb

I suppose 70k/kb for wap is the highest in the world.......

well, I've decided to move on to another manufacturer after being loyal to SE for 3 years due to poor RF.

All the SE phones I've used have always developed Reception related problems.

1- the first was a t300 which started loosing signal from full to zero bar in full signal areas after 5 months. I thought this was a network problem but later realized the phone was responsible/faulty.

2-the second was a t610 which also had the same problem as t300.

3-the third and last was a p800 which started dropping only outgoing calls after being used for 6 months. I thought this was a network problem but later realized it was the phone after trying different phones with the same SIM.

I've since deserted SE due to RF problem and now use a Siemens S55 which I'm very pleased with.

Posted by OluYom
@mamba: Sorry to hear about your P800. Siemens S55 is a great phone, & I have always wanted to play with one. I do not foresee a reduction in GPRS tariffs by Glo soon. After all, they are the only 2.5G network in Naija.
