Yeah not bad I suppose. Still don't like the design off the new SE phones also shown on that page.

Yeah the new SE phones dont appeal much to me because of their 'classic' Ericsson design and layout of being boxy. Nevertheless, features are the prime target for the manufacturers and SE seems to be going down that route whereas Nokia seems to go for the looks and not the features

Sorry to say, but the only new thing with 6610 compared to 7210 is the design - the hardware is the same...
This is about selling the same crap to different customers and prices!
It sucks!

Hmm I'm confused. For the second time now, Nokia are launching an phone with almost identical features as a recently-released model (last round: 8310 - 6510). Yes folks, according to the info out at the moment, the 6610 is basically a 7210 that is styled in a more tame (read 'boring') fashion. Perhaps they were worried that the radical design of the 7210 would offend some people and prevent them from seeing that it really is an innovative phone technically (color screen, MMS, new scrolling system, etc.)

This seems to have 'gaffe' written all over it, or perhaps some kind of schism over at Nokia. It will sure be interesting to see how they market these two phones when they are both out.

Your thoughts anyone?

Theres a big dif between an 8310 and a 6510.FIRMWARE STABILITY. Dont judge a book by its cover. An 8310 will gv u a headache

I have had both phone and there are a lot of differance between the 8310 and 6510.

6510 has a bug too like the 8310 so no difference to me. nokia phones repair rate is 8-10% while it's competitors is just only 3%.

nokia = low quality and no durability.

Well I have no problems with my 6510, I think it is a much better phone. But it is a Nokia at the end of the day

Nokia is just trying too hard. They have always done the same in the past as well. They bring out handsets that are almost identical in features and the only thing they differ in is the looks. Classic examples can be of Nokia 6310 and 6310i, 6510 and 8310 and now 6610 and the 7210.

6610 looks a lot better than the 7210. Nokia is trying very hard indeed but they just do not seem to have the edge over the others any more. They have been the last ones to come out with a Tri-band phone. 6310i is the first Nokia to utilise all three GSM bands. Also I cannot help feel that they (Nokia) are providing these phones (7210 and 6610) with FM-Radio rather than Bluetooth module. Whats the point of taking the phone with a laptop and trying to connect cables and line infra red. Surely Nokia should pick a leaf out of SonyEricsson's book and have the Bluetooth module installed and have an option of an FM-Radio handsfree kit. I think because of this Nokia are losing it big time.

mate, nokia are not interested in specialist features intended for minority consumer groups - Bluetooth is 1 example. They implement feautures if they deem to be of mass market interest(FM radio) This is a good move, given that they are likely to shift more units and make more profits and boost market share. Bluetooth accessories are too expensive and given its consumer demand, directors will not want to implement such features even if the technology (modules) is cheap. The average consumer would choose radio over bluetooth especially as bluetooth is not well understood in terms of its use and presence!
