Can't find my perfect phone

I am looking for:
'bar' form factor (not clamshell, not slider, not 'twister')
decent photos (preferrably MegaPixel)
video capabilities
MP3 player (& FM radio ideally)
external memory (to take advantage of video & MP3 functionality)
Bluetooth, and must be Apple iSync compatible
large hi-res screen (65k colours)

I can't believe that I can't meet these requirements in any available phone, I must have missed something!!
My last 3 phones have been SE and I feel they have been the best available at the time, especially the T610. But I want my next phone to have some significant improvement in features over my current one (SE Z600).
I have looked at and dismissed the following:
SE K700 - no expandable memory for MP3 and video files
SE S700 - unpleasant form factor
SE P910 - stylus driven interface, unremarkable camera, would be paying for more of a device than I need
Nokia 7610 - no Apple iSync support (but otherwise perfect, if a little large)
Nokia 6230 - tiny screen (but meets almost all other requirements)
Siemens S65 - no MP3 support, poor resolution screen (for it's size)
The device I'm closest to at the moment is the Sendo X, but I think the screen isn't that great, it's availability is still limited in the UK, and as with the P910, it's functionality exceeds my requirements so I would be over-paying.
This is frustrating as I have never finished a phone contract without knowing exactly what to upgrade to! My dream would be the K700 with external memory... okay my absolute dream would be a T610 with the outstanding K700 screen & interface, with external memory!!!
I look forward to reading replies, especially from owners of the phones I've mentioned above!
Cheers
Davio

I really wish you weren't right 50cent! I might have to add a new criteria:
Must not remind me of the face of someone with bulging cheeks who is about to spew...
I am not so shallow that the look of the phone would be the a good enough reason not to buy it, I think I will appreciate the functionality of a phone through a good display and soon get over what it looks like externally. The iSync issue that is found with the 7610 will probably affect this model though...

If you hadnt said that it had to be a candy bar form factor than I would have said S700i. It is the best phone I have ever owned (and I have owned a few) and the twisty bit is just class.

SX1 doesnt have Megapixel camera. Do you mean the S65?

Posted by 50Cent
well the sx65 doesnt have mp3 capabilities...

50cent: If I get the S65 I could also get an iPod, maybe for Christmas!

Ayush: thanks for your suggestion... the SX1 has an average camera (no better than my Z600) and the video clips are limited to 95kb apparently!

I agree with this one! Looks like you just can't have all the specs you wanted in just one fone mate . . .

it's madness! but maybe I'm going to reconsider the S700, I'll go to a shop and see what it's like in the flesh so to speak...
Do u guys think I'm fussy / greedy?!

Posted by 50Cent
nah....even i'm like that....just cant decide. i've been meaning to get a phone for about a year now

it's a devil plan . no phone would ever be called 'a perfect phone' and has everything you ever need. otherwise that phone would be the only phone in the market, and phone manufacturers won't be able to sell many other series in their product's line. why hurting themselves, they're running business to make profit in every which way they can find.

Posted by davio
i get your point, but I would say that there are features I don't need that you will find on top end smart phones and pdas.
I am looking for the perfect phone for ME, not the perfect phone for everyone

Hi everyne!
Sry to change the subject to my dilema but i really need your opinions on this...Is there any chance that SE would make a software that we can upgrade S700's with inorder to be able to use MS Duo's bigger than 128Mb? Cuz if not then i'm hesitating between the S700 (for the excellent camera but not too much memory) and the P910 (for the decent-ish camera and the very good memory space). Any opinions or advice?

Hey, why don't you check out the motorola e398? It seems to have what's on your mind

Posted by davio
Hurray! plasmadog seems to have hit the mark! thanks!
I overlooked this phone, it's design is so unassuming that I was surprised it even had a camera.
It's not megapixel but it's not bad, and it's certainly better than the Z600. It doesn't seem to support video recording but it supports video playback, it has stereo speakers for MP3 player from TransFlash memory card. You would think that with the 'excellent' speakers, that the phone would have a loudspeaker option, but apparently not.
I really want the red and white version but I'm not sure about it's availability.
I'll be off to the shop to find one to play with. If anyone has any thoughts, or has this phone at the moment I would love to hear from you.

I called tmobile and they offered the Motorola E398 for free. They're even sending it to me for delivery tomorrow, a full week before my renewal point, and more than 6 weeks before the end of my contract! I have 7 days to decide if I want to keep it, and I'll be comparing it closely to my friends K700.
Happy days! Thanks everyone

It came today, and the most amzing thing is the sound! It's quite literally rocking. Theres a Java MP3 player to get my head around. I'm not having loads of luck with the Bluetooth at the moment but I think it's a case of RTFM

First impressions are that it's not as elegant (external design & interface) as SE, but it's pleasant enough and the screen is brilliant.

Hey mate, enjoy your phone.! You get the data cables as well? Cheers

Posted by davio
USB data cable included Plasmadog! this phone was your recommendation so cheers to you. I've ordered a white / red housing from eBay (I haven't set high expectations on that) but I'm totally impressed with the price of TransFlash - £17 for 128MB? Loving it.

Try Autotrader - It helps you find your perfect partner apparently...

The ugliest thing that has happened is that i would have thought the Motorola MPx as a PERFECT fone for me (upgrading from my XDA2) then, they come up with a low memory issue and slow processor
I'm quite dissapointed, Now i wait for the XDAIII (or whatever they call it) though that wont be my perfect fone either, its too big. .

But anyway, fnding a perfect fone is too difficult. You come close to finding one, but then someting is always wrong.

I got my hands on a 6630 yesterday and have no complaints of it

this perfect phone of yours will be out arround Q1 2005 (could be begin Q2 because of cebit). just have a little of patience. you can always get the K700 and sell it later

It's 3 months since I had the Motorola e398 and it has developed problem after problem. Reboots if you try and send file by bluetooth, not discoverable on inbound bluetooth connections, shocking battery life (even with low usage), flash card image files corrupted, MP3 files 'not found' by the bundled Java MP3 player, charging cable connection loose, plastic Tmobile logo has fallen off, scrolling through image list grinds the phone to a halt. It takes almost a minute to boot up, and if you receive a call from a contact with a picture assigned to it (a 5k file) you can wait for several rings before the image makes it to the screen! I spent more than a month playing with it so cannot return it to Tmobile, but it has been away for 'repair' once and came back with the same problems. I don't want this phone any more, but signed up for an 18 month contract. I am gutted as this phone, in terms of listed specifications, met my requirements (the alternative at the time was the K700, which didn't). I do feel better for getting that off my chest anyway
