6600 Signal

Hey there all,
I wanted to give my old 6600 to a friend but for some odd reason it has ZERO signal and never gets a signal (although on SOME occassions in areas you get a network for a few seconds)
I did reset the phone to no avail.
With the old Nokia's there was a code you inputted to boost the power of the signal (but that gave a lower battery life).

Anyone have any suggestions? I dont have an international warranty and I'm not in the country I bought it in.
