Just wondering i read somewhere that both sony and ericsson werent happy with the profits and were not looking to far in the future together

Posted by BobaFett
Hm. Wish it would be true.

Posted by Elrond
And where did you read it?

Posted by wrecked_porsche
He is posting from a NOkia!! Thats why... J/K :-)(Sorry, couldn't resist ! ) :-D LOL

Posted by david1975
I cant recall sorry but it said that a spokesperson from ericsson said they would pull out if profits werent improved i cant ever see them making enough they just arent good enough i wish they would split ericsson were cool

Posted by BobaFett
If it would be true, i dont think that /// would start making mob fones again. They are succesfull in tel centrals, military equipments etc

Posted by whizkidd
Boba said "If they split then Ericsson ain't gonna make phones" So why do you want it to happen boba?

Posted by Lynx69
I think he would like /// to start making phone again but he doesnt think they will actualyl start making phones on their own again.

Posted by jcwhite_uk
Not long ago they were saying that were making better profits than expected!

Posted by wapt
Guys, Forget about it. It was just a rumour years old. How can it be out again when SE is making good profit? And where was it read, just as Ernond said. Though I also prefer Ericsson to make phone on its own brand.

Posted by shyam335
i too like to see ericsson phone, but its not gonna happen when is in a fair position now

Posted by BobaFett
If sony would step in the game, the t68 would have been the last /// fone.

Posted by david1975
I know such a shame ericsson phones were cool used to love my t28 now that was classy i wish se would make a flip phone like that

Posted by *Jojo*
Looks like Nokia and Ericsson will be tying the knot very soon! To put an end to/for the skeptics out there! If ever, surely they will make great fones - outbesting all the rest - even when combined!

Posted by BobaFett
/// Fones were always ahead its time. Unfortunately the long testing and the fact in my first sentence were the end of a big era.

Posted by david1975
Can u imagine how cool a phone built by ericsson and nokia would be

A k700 with a 128*128 screen and an mmc card ant tacky express on covers!! No thanks.....

Posted by david1975
I was thinking of a business phone maybe a symbian phone you have limited imagination

Posted by Sammy_boy
I can just imagine the confusion, flame wars and heated discussions a union between Ericsson and Nokia would provoke!

And we'd be talking about NE instead of SE

Posted by david1975
It would be different lol strange how i started a post about a possible split of se and it always get off topic some se fanatics cant help it i suppose im pretty sure i could live with out se ha ha

Posted by BobaFett
I could have imagine a 'sony-less' /// aswell.

Posted by david1975
Would be nice but it is the end of an era

Posted by BobaFett
The only positive result of it that /// is now in the hall of fame and so it stays til eternity. The other brands should still fight to join the club.

i was against SE from day one. and i still am. ericsson had so many dreams, so many projects, so many ideas. and now we see little thats special. sure SE makes the best phones and stuff.
but ericsson had much better design. also ericsson made phones for more segments, and the idea's that they had where just beyond all of our dreams. also where is bluetooth? SE only puts it in high end phones, if ericsson would've been alone low end phones like the T105 would come standard with bluetooth. and what about the batteries? ericsson used lion-polymeer in there phones since the T28, and now most of there new phones like F/K50x K700 Z5/600 S700 all have lion batteries. and where are the leds? most of use loved the leds on the phones. sure some of you guys hated the blinking leds, but a function that could turn them off would've solved the problem. its just so sad

SE won't split now that they are making good profit. there marketshare is good but i doubt that it will grow during the next 2Q. it all depends on there design and the features they give us. i hope ericsson will one day make phones under its own name again, but i know that its not a good thing, restarting again, making the brand famous again. but who knows miricales excist...

Posted by david1975
I agree you never know one day they will

Posted by BobaFett
@bart i do agree with u to the last, but unfortunately for the most users are those features important what /// developed for fun.

Posted by milmino
Actually IMO (so dont criticise) I always prefered sony to ericsson especially when I was really satisfied with my j70 but I have to admit ericsson made more classy phones which were ahead of their time and sony made more gadgetty phones and were more business minded than ericsson but I didnt mind when was formed and wouldnt mind when they break up (as long as I have my s700 by then)

Posted by 701
Yeah, :se: is unhappy that its market share went up 5%, and ericsson is unhappy that sony saved their sorry ass from bankruptcy. Together they r a force producing professional telco equipment while the initiator of this thread doesnt know his head from his @ss:-D

Posted by david1975
Acctually little boy the artical i read was from a financial report which grown up people read very few pictures for you oh sorry best stop u might have a tantrum and throw all your toys from your pram

Posted by BobaFett
No need for flaming imo, why to fill the garbage more?

Posted by Sasa1

Posted by methylated_spirit
I cant see them splitting at all.

Posted by david1975
I never actualy said they would split i just thought i would mention i read something about se thought you lot would be interested

Posted by BobaFett
If it would come to a split, only sony will stay there a looser, cos /// delivered enough evidences how to make a fone.

Posted by Residentevil
Just a rumor by a disgruntled No Kia user, who rather would bite his arm off than admitting that he would like to burry his Nokia phone in his backyard and buy . Although he would feel a lot better then.

Posted by BobaFett
I dont think so. He read it and where to ask it if not here?

Posted by bart
during the first 2 years of SE both /// and sony said that if SE wouldn't become proffitable they would split. unfortunatly (imo) SE is very proffitable. thx to a good cost reduction and good profit/sold item (phone or accesoire).

Posted by BobaFett
@bart they didnt reduced only the costs ;o) ...

Posted by Lynx69
@boba what else did they reduce?

Posted by BobaFett
Quality, logical features, design ... IMHO ( ! )

Posted by bart
correct

desing is nowhere to be found, menu IU could've been nicer, battery performence. but most of all. INOVATION!

I was never an Ericsson fan myself, I always considered their phones to be reminiscent of cold Soviet era blobs of plastic rather than cutting edge modern innovation; in fairness their features were usually quite good though. My opinion changed when I bought my T68i, I thought, and still do, that this was the finest mobile phone ever produced.
It is extremely unlikely that Sony and Ericsson will split, they have both invested a lot of money in this partnership and it would cost them both a great deal of money to end it. SE's market share is increasing, but I believe that there is a tendency for some people to assume that they are not doing as well as they might be, this is probably true to a certain degree, but SE aim at a different section of the market than, for example, Nokia. Nokia aim their products at everyone, hence the reason most of their phones are glorified paper wieghts. Now before david1975 scrambles for his keyboard to accuse me of being an SE 'fanatic' or a Nokia 'hater' I should mention that I have owned several Nokia phones in the past, some of, which were actually rather good. The fact still remains that Nokia aims a great deal of its products at a very wide market; which includes those who are looking for a very basic phone, whether due to cost or because they do not want/need advanced features. Nokia, on the whole, produce adequate mobile phones, not usually outstanding, but adequate.
In this light I would have thought that a merger between Nokia and either of Sony or Ericsson would have been a bad idea if it were ever seriously considered. Both Sony and Ericsson produced mobile phones aimed at those who wanted and/or appreciated mobile phones with more than just standard features and whose primary motivation for buying a phone wasn't that it allowed one to put an over priced brightly coloured fascia on it.
If SE were to split I would have thought that Sony would be in a better position to continue producing mobile phones owing to the fact that it is the larger company with considerable resources behind it; although I have a feeling that its initial market would be Japan before it widened to include the rest of the world again. I would agree with boba regarding Ericsson's prospects after a split with Sony.

Im not a nokia fan as much as i sound i just like to read and discus both views i cant see anything wrong with that and if i do sound like i favour nokia i am sorry to all se fans my brother is slowly bringing me round to liking se i always liked ericsson

Posted by scotsboyuk
@david1975

It is rather curious that so many SE fans were Ercisson fans rather than Sony fans. I understand that Ericsson had more mobile phones available than Sony did, but, even so, there does seem to be a huge imbalance. Personally, as I stated above, I was never a huge Ericsson fan, I did own one Ericsson phone and returned it after a few days.

Im still trying to make up my mind which phone to keep the nokia 6230 or the se k700 its a tough one both have good points

Posted by scotsboyuk
@david1975

I have no experience of the Nokia, but I can tell you that I am very pleased with my K700i.

Posted by david1975
I keep getting a problem with my k700 taking a long time loading pages on wap do you have the same problem mine is locked to orange would this be a normal problem

Posted by scotsboyuk
@david1975

Mine isn't on Orange and it doesn't usually take all that long to load a webpage, assuming that it isn't graphics intensive, etc You don't mention, which type of webpages it is that take so long to download, it might just be that they contain a lot of data. You might want to check whether your firmware can be upgraded or whether there is a problem with the GPRS in your area.

Posted by david1975
My gprs seems to be ok its not every page just some now and again
