Well I’ve bought my K700i, I’m very happy with it but what’s up with the battery?
I read something about new firmware and stuff, can I just download it?
And I bought a Bluetooth for my pc so I can sent files to my K700i and all that but the Bluetooth remote control for my media player and desktop doesn’t work, anyone with the same problems???

U arent alone witg a weak batt, t6x0 fones suffer of the same problem. U should get used to it, se dient showed much interest until now to launch fones with acceptable power accopding the many features they put in their fones.

i don't think he should put up with bad battery life. its a flaw and k700 has much worse battery than any of the t-series.
as for adaquete battery for all the features, my p900 has great battery life for all it has, and it is stronger than the k700 for battery life, who has less features. i think it is a big design flaw on SE's part and something they should release a fix for.

Have my K700 switched on 24 hours and only need to charge every 3-4 days now. The battery gets loads better as you charge it. If you've got a K700 with R2A firmware then maybe you should goto your nearest
approved centre and let them take a look at it. Tell them about the battery and the other problems you've noticed. They will update the software. Make sure you tell them that there is a problem as some service centres wont update unless theres a problem.

Hmm, I´ve got K700i with R2L and Li-Pol battery, but it remains only 2 days.
Posted by vojta66
Same with me....R2L Li-Polymer battery and only 2 days.

How can a new fw fix the batt performance?
Posted by Lembo
God knows but it does.
Could be something that it running in the background on the old software eating the battery life???
Had mine for 2 weeks now with the new and improved FW and saying that I'm used to putting my phone on charge each night I haven't seen a problem really.
Posted by BobaFett
Think its the battery itself guilty. Wrong tech or way of manufacturing, short test time etc
Posted by knight4led
@boba the fw can change the screen brightness and contrast settings and the power settings on the screen after the screensaver is displayed. It can also control how and when the lights on the keyboard turn on. FW also controls how often the phone searches for better signal and other things like that. I'm sure that
altered these settings as well as some other things to improve battery life.

Thx. It seems that for se is more important to launch the fone then a good fw with it. Why not to wait a bit to avoid this circus?
Posted by Atlis
boba - everything seems to be a bit messy about K700 in general... Three different batteries, five firmwares... and nobody knows what´s the best combination...
Posted by BobaFett
Yes, its a kind of puzzle for every k7 users. But se could have present a better game or at least a some instructions. How shall i recommend a fone if even i am sceptic about it?

I am really having 2nd thoughts here if I'll have my firmware upgraded (R2L . . .) as I am quite nervous that the 'minor' problems at hand at present becomes . . .'major' !
Posted by BobaFett
U mean that the batt performance is a minor problem?
Posted by *Jojo*
@bobafett - Minor for light users like me I guess . . . as I am seeing some 'disgruntled' upgraders here that's why . . . Saying that their problemos got worst when they had that firmware changed, I guess those were just isolated cases, at any rate, I have already read about 7 of them!

I've got had my first look at an Orange SPV-C500 "Smartphone".
Its about the same size as my K700i, but has a much larger screen.
It has the same functions - VGA camera, MP3 player, etc. No radio but does have a mini-SD card slot under the battery.
It has a 1050mAh battery just slightly larger than the 700mAh battery on my K700i.
Its got a 5 day battery life. My K700i is lucky to last for two days.
Go figure.
Posted by BobaFett
@jn thx for reply. Weird, that /// made very good batts, where is that knowledge disappeared to?
Posted by happycheesecake
@bobafett
Its because Sony perfected Li-Ion batteries (and have a Li-Ion manufacturing planet), whilst /// decided to use the "better" Li-Poly technology before Sony took them over.
It doesn't help that the K700i has a battery cover rather than a clip-on battery....

I really envy you guys with K700s which last 2 days or more. My phone lasts 12-14 hours tops bfore it shuts off and that is after I got it upgraded to R2L. I got a spare battery because I thought there might be something wrong with my original battery but had the new battery for a week now and it lasts just a long as the original battery.
Saw a post somewhere that you could use a Nokia BLD-3 battery and I happen to have that battery lying around from my old 7250 and it did fit after slightly moving the bettery terminals on the phone. I hesitated using it as first since it said it was 3.7volts and the original battery on the K700i says 3.6volts. But what the heck, I was desperate to try anything just so that my K700i would last more than 14 hrs. So I charged the battery and the phone even said "optimized charging". I used it and after 20 hours the low battery warning appeared. And I even played a lot of games last night. Does this mean that Nokia makes superior batteries or maybe the BLD-3 has a higher rating? By the way, the BLD-3 is a Li-ion battery.

We share a common predicament with our K700i. The best I got from the batteries was 60 hours and the worst was 14 hours. If it's any consolation, the Li-ion batteries are not inferior compared to the Li-polymer -- Li-ion has a longer life.
I think there are two major things that were traded off and caused the battery drain in the k700i:
1. Improved signal
2. Improved display
Battery may also drain faster if you stay in an area with very weak signal or no signal at all for a long time.

If you play with your phone a lot, it will suck up your battery. Common sense.
My K7 battery last about 5 days (maybe 6) with occasional use. I'm still on R2A firmware. I only use my K7 for calls. Don't care about the games/camera/text messaging/etc. Also, I don't use or care about any fancy screensaver or wallpaper that moves around in the Standby Mode.
This is a lot better than my previous phone (Samsung V205) which last about 3-4days before another recharge.
I set my K7 to "keypad lock" and I notice that my screen goes dark and to the automatic timer clock faster (when I'm done using it).
I think the screen is what suck up the battery the most. If you're constantly playing/messing with your phone, of course the screen will be ON longer, thus "time for another recharge."

bikeme74, I don't mean to pry but why did you buy a K700i?

What are you talking about? There is no slot on the K700 for the external memory. In the mobile review k700 review, Eldar mentioned where the memory card would be positioned for the F700 (T series at the time). Having a look at the FCC reports which show the internals of the k700, I don't see any set of card reader pins in the location Eldar mentioned....

I broke my Samsung V205 clamshell. Well, I didn't actually break it. I took it apart to give it my own personal paint job (w/ an airbrush). Then, when the work was done, I had problems putting the phone back together again. I accidentally ripped some important connections. Those damn clamshell phones are hard. Cried for about a week because that V205 phone cost me $300 bucks when it came out.
Played around with my brother's SE T616 and I like the easy menu/icon navigation. The phone was easy to use and sounded great. I needed another phone and the SE phone at the moment was the K700i. It looked beautiful and so, I bought my first SE...and here I am on Esato Forum.
I know I'm not using my K700i to its full potential, but I just needed a phone that doesn't fail me, sounds great, and looks good. Though the radio and the mp3 player are pretty neat.
I promised myself that I will NEVER modify my phone again

I know that a lot of people are experiencing problems with there battery life on their K700i.
As did I for the first week until it had about 10 charges and it work for about 3 days on R2L001 with
I think some of you have become too aware of standby time on this phone.
I haven't got a prob with the phone really except only holding a few sms/mms.
