'downloaded' ?? I see kazaa at work here. ;-) Try buying or ('downloading') the full version.

try checking out the files to see if any taht are obvious are missing

you probably need a crack for the the game..... its like a couple of files that are missing. http://www.gameburnworld.com or search in google for "sims

Actually for the addons to work, the first sims cd must not be a rip. It should be a cd image ( a single file with extension .iso or .bin or .img). If not the addons will simply not work . I know this from personal experience when i err 'bought' the game. ;-)
