Anyone know why the file K700_TRANSFORM_CID29_to_CID36.DVT downloaded from davinci site is 0kb?

Anyone got a copy?

Thanks

wtf ?

just tried updating on SEUS like I allways do with my K700, never had any problems before, and now all of the sudden I get

---------
Your device is not permitted to use this service

Your operator does not approve the usage of this service for this device.
We look forward to assist you again soon.
Thank you for using Sony Ericsson Update Service!
----------

what is this crap, I have a completely unbranded K700 with no operatorbindings at all, and have updated a number of times in the past with no problems, latest just a week ago.

How incredibly annoying, arghhhhh

@ numb

I have the same problem SE told me that my operator in sweden (TELIASONERA) must approve the new firmware which is R2AY in sweden.

Thats crap - my current operator is TeleDanmark (Denmark) - but since Im using an unbranded phone why should they interfere with my choise of updating. This means that SEUS looks at which operator your current SIM is using and desides if youre allowed to update according to that, which is really dumb. Has nothing to do with the operator, its my phone, not the operators. I can put in any SIM from any operator I want. Updating is a business between me and S//E, not the fricking operator I currently use. What do I care if my current operator has approved of the update or not, its my bussines if I want to update, not theirs. Setting SEUS to check for operator on a non branded handset is so stupid of S//E. Its a piece of hardware I bought from S//E, not a service provided by an operator. My free choise of operator should have no influence on my ability to update the hardware I bought from S//E.

I know some of my friends got theirs updated to R2AY using SEUS, I could ask them which operator they are on, possibly borrow their SIM and do the update, then switch back to my own SIM again.

But I shouldent have to do things like that to get my free unbranded phone updated. I have to say, at the moment I am extremely annoyed by the fools at S//E tech, with the way they are handling firmwareupdates at the moment, both in regards to my K700 and my K750, and with the totally idiotic useles socalled helpdesk which can do nothing but spew out standard replys.

arrrghhh.....

Numb calm down. SEUS does this from time to time and it tends to be when SE are updating their service. As some people are able to upgrade to R2AY004 then it seems SE are rolling this out across their global infrastructure so please be patient.

Just before they rolled out R2AE033 I was getting a similar message even though my phone was unbranded but then after a few days it just worked. Bare with them and it will work soon.

Posted by numb
yeah yeah yeah, my midllename is patience, so Ill bare with them for now

In the department I run, if people deal incomepetent with their work, they have to report to my ofice and Ill slap them over the wrist
I might even take away some of their many benefits. If youve done really bad you are forced to handover your S//E phone and use a Nokia for a week. That usually works

I have just succeded updating my k700i to R2AY004 (TELIA SWEDEN)

Posted by kruez
I've just updated my UK Orange K700i to R2AY004 via SEUS.

WOO-HOO

Posted by Cornholio_666
i'm on orange too and it said my phone was already up to date so i continued anyway and am still on r2ae033

Posted by numb
well, my phone now also got updated with no problems....... except after the update it now just flashes with a white screen when you turn it on.

Recovery mode doesnt work, so basically Im screwed, once again.

Now have to sent it to a service centre for repair which takes not less than 4 weeks.

who was it that told me to calm down ??

Beleive me calm is far from what I am feeling for these no good twats at S//E at the moment.

I had an appointment tonight with someone to swap this K700 for an S700, and would just deliver the phone with the latest update, now this deal wont happen.

And I am really pissed of !!!

Im on Orange in the uk and tried to update,
It still says my phone has the current version.

I have a Orange Phone and not a Unbranded one working on orange.

This may have something to do with it?

Posted by numb
yes branded phones allways gets updates alot later than unbranded, because the update need to first be get Orange for branding before releasing on SEUS

Posted by hazart
Let me have a go now.
Don't let me down!

Edit: Oh my goodness! I'm having exactly the same problem as numb had!

I wish SE were just rolling out the new FW...

what ?

I cant beleive this

You got the same problem as me ?
firmware update went well, but now the phone wont turn on ??

Or the first problem I had where it wouldent update because of the operator ?

@numb:

It was the operator problem. I have had my completely SIM free K700 for a year and this was the first time I had this problem.

Posted by numb
phew

My advice - dont try to update anymore - or youl risk ending up where I am now. use a servicecentre instead if possible.

This nogood updateservice has now ruined a phone for me 2 times

Im really fed up

@numb

Thanks for your advice, man!

I done used SEUS with no problems at all.In Sweden and Telia as operator.

Flashing screen after update
Try this:
Just take the battery off for about 10-20 seconds and put it back.
Worked fine for me anyway

tried that many times, and tried recover phone from Davinci also, nothing helps

Just keep getting that flashing white screen

[ This Message was edited by: numb on 2005-07-12 21:52 ]

ok - fixed it now.

Had to buy 2 davinci logs, do a recover dead phone, and then a flash of the new firmwares.
Phew, it now works again.

Mate, I'm sure you'll agree that the cost of those two credits was worth not being without it for a month.

My phone's updating as I type, fingers crossed it goes alright.

Definately

And I actually only used one, the recoverpart was free

Plus it had the benefit of nomore camerashuttersound when phone is set to silent.

That must be it, I unbranded my phone with Davinci a while ago.

I am using my K700 as a modem to connect to the internet ....can i update it through SEUS whiles its being used as a modem

Posted by eliashan
Unfortunately you cannot use your phone to connect to the internet while upgrading it at the same time, for the simple reason that the phone must be completely turned off during the update process (when the SEUS java application takes control of the phone through the DSS-25). I don't think you would want to download the update through GPRS anyway, since it's some tens of megabytes (including the Java app).

Posted by gi_viper
when I try to update my phone: after checking the 5 checkboxes in the verification page of the seus i press the next button and the page that appears has no functionality: it just says Welcome to SEUS...

whats wrong here?

yep that was it...jvm was missing! the update worked out just fine now...

The same issue here! I think there is a problem with SEUS not ours!

Posted by Cornholio_666
have you got java installed? you need java to update the phone

Posted by Solarix
Thanks Cornholio_666,
I forgot to install java since my last windows setup. Now I'm upgrading from R2AE033 to R2AY004 via SEUS.

Arrrggh! I have successfully used SEUS twice before to upgrade my k700 but now it is constantly saying "no syncstation found"!

Have tried the following:

Reinstalled syncstation drivers
Reinstalled J2RE
Reinstalled update service software
Tried in both IE and firefox
Tried enabling and disabling the port in Phone Monitor (it's on COM4)

FMA sees the phone fine but not SEUS why

Posted by Cornholio_666
has anyone else on orange having trouble updating their K700i with SEUS? it wont updating saying theirs no service for my operator

Posted by smjohns
Can someone who has upgraded to R2AY004 using SEUS check the code memo function to see if it is working. I have heard rumours that this release introduces a bug on this.

Posted by nikern
Im actually having some problems with my phone at the moment. Twice today it has turned it self off while im trying to access the "tools"(not sure if it is correct, but its where the calculator is and such). And i have the lastest firmware R2AY004.

Someone else have had the poweroff problem??

Posted by Cornholio_666
can someone who has an orange K700i send or pm me the two (r2ay) files in the C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\software-data folder please as seus wont let me update.
thanks

@Cornholio_666:

I've had the same problem with my purely SIM free K700 for two days. I guess SE is still rolling out the FW for certain CDA's.

Posted by darrengf
I have just had the same problem with my orange k700i. I think this normal happens when se are updating the servers that do the main updates.

It will prob be next week now when the update is done?

Oh well. ive waited this long a few more days isnt going to hurt

Posted by yellowbox
FYI

just finished updating my o2 branded k700i thru SEUS a while ago...

R2AY004
cda 102298/18 r24a

code memo function works fine

no power off problems so far (keeping my fingers crossed )

Just upgraded my sim free phone to R2AY004 and it worked really well. Make sure you backup before performing this as one or two of my saved photo's got corrupted in the update (it could have been because they were attached to the phone book...but not entirely sure).

Posted by sim0n_
Hi! I was wandering... Have U found any bugs yet on R2AY004? What's diferent and are the menues any faster(scroling thru pictures, taking photos)... Cause I intend do get it next week, and i wanna get sure that is wort upgradeing from R2AE. Thanx.

Posted by ajape
Games are faster, Bluetooth is waaaay faster... no bugs yet, just flashed today, but no obvious reasons to regret...

Posted by serg
the phone book bug still exists in R2AY004, everything else seems to be ok, menus are a little bit faster compared to R2AE033, bluetooth is faster too.

1)I noted that in the update process R2AE033->R2AY004 using seus, many of the files that are in the phone's memory become corrupted. I also think this was the case in previous update processes too. Unfortunately this time one of the games in the phones memory got corrupted too! Can anyone tell me if I can find the River Riders game to download it? Also is there a way to send java games through Bluetooth back to the computer using Bluetooth?

2)Restoring contacts with R2AY004 and Windows Address Book: when sending the contacts back to the phone, the name of every contact is lost! Irritating experiments showed that this happens because the export files (that win addr book creates) have a first & last name & phone (etc) entries given to every contact which is incorrectly handled by the phone during the synchronization process. Mapping the entire name to first name in windows address book, prior to synchronizing solved the problem. As far as I recall, there was no such problem with R2AE033.

Can anyone confirm?
