"Released on SEUS 10/6/05 ". I thought SEUS meant the SE web updater service..? R2AY004 sure isn't there yet. (At least not available to my unbranded R2AE033.)
Posted by RTouris
No, I don't think it made its way there yet...Still official SE service centers have received this latest firmware for about 3-4 days now, so I took the plunge and I had mine updated earlier today.
Pros:
-Faster BT reception (50K/sec), broadcast remains the same at apprx. 25K/sec
-Images thumbnails load faster
-mp4s (aac) can now be set as ringtones (finally)
Cons:
-I don't seem to get any better low light condition quality photos as noted by some users here before (camera software ver. is same 3.10)
-Phonebook multicharacter search crash bug still exists
Software version: R2AY004
LCD Current: 200406041
ITP: CXC 125 813 R2C (instead of R1T as noted on page 1)

@ TomeOne
The "blue background" can be switched off - it's just an option that is enabled by default on unbranded firmware that keeps the GPRS connected the whole time.
Go into Connectivity > Data comm. > Preferred service > GSM only
Posted by JasonDeFaoite
Is the multicharacter search in the phone book available yet for asian language firmwares?
Posted by gi_viper
will switching off the "gsm and gprs" option in the conectivity menu that u speak of, lead to a lose of functionality in mms messaging for example? because i think that mms messages are delivered through gprs
Posted by serg
gi_viper
No, MMS, e-mail and other GPRS programs will work fine. I have gprs switched off from menu in both t610 and k700, but still using gprs for e-mail, wap, mms and everything is working fine
Posted by Sebby
It doesn't switch GPRS off as such, it just means it's not connected the whole time. When you want to go on WAP or send an MMS, for example, it will connect.

You're awesome, you know that? Thank you so very much!

No problem.

I have R2AY004 and I don't know it those changes were there in recent updates but here it is:
- When new contacts are transferred or synchronized, the default number is the mobile one unlike before.
- pressing "ok" when the alarm rings doesn't disable it completely like before. Now you have to confirm your choice otherwise it'll ring 9 minutes later.
Posted by gi_viper
Does the latest R2AY004 also include zoom functionality in pictures stored in the phone memory?

Nope, I'm afraid it doesn't :I

What's the FW version on SEUS at the moment? Still R2AE033? Boring...
Posted by Newton
mwarner stated on his first post that R2AY004 was released on SEUS on 10/6/05....
EDIT: sorry, R2AY004 not 005...

Newton, is it R2AY005 or R2AY004 as page 1 says? Furthermore i quote from page 1:
"R2AY004
- Released by DaVinci on 24/5/05
- Released on SEUS 10/6/05"
******************and a few lines below*************
"The latest Firmware on SEUS is R2AN001 for O2 phones and R2AE033 for unbranded / other operators."
Is there REALLY a new fw ver on SE web update service? I am only asking cauz i have 2 borow again the DSS-25
Posted by RTouris
There shouldn't be any need to borrow that DSS-25, just pop into a local SE service center and provided that still have the purchase receipt they should be keen to update your handset to the latest available software which is R2AY004.
Posted by smjohns
As of last weekend SEUS is still installling R2AE033. Not entirely sure when they will get the newer version although I would certainly benefit from the increased bluetooth connectivity speeds
If you update using SEUS you do not loose your data whereas using Davinci you do. Fairplay if you are re-branding or re-flashing the entire firmware then great but I only want to update to R2AY
Posted by edwardanderson
Bug in the latest official release of R2AY004:
Actual "Code Memo" can be viewed with any typed code.
Verified with version R2AT also.....
Posted by fintarob
I cant update my K700i from R2AT003 by SEUS.
SEUS download the flash and cant connetct to phone...
What is the problem?
Posted by smjohns
edwardanderson: Aaah this could be why SEUS aren't releasing the update as yet. Just out of interest, you do know that entering any code the application will still allow you into code memo? If you enter an incorrect code the only way you can tell is that the check word is scrambled and all the codes are still encrypted. Are you saying that if you enter an invalid code it still displays the correct check word and codes?
If this is the case then this is really weird as I doubt this application has really changed much since the release of the K700i...so for it to now not be working means they have tinkered with this module...I wonder what they were trying to do.
fintarob: Probably best you create a new thread for this problem. When you do, please add more detail such as what method of connection you are using (DSS-20, 25, DCU-11, etc). Please note that you can only use the DSS-20/25 with the SEUS and this must be installed and working when you attempt to use the service. Also you must not have the power supply connected to the DSS-20/25....as this stops it working too.

I tried the SEUS just now; it was still feeding my unbranded K700 with R2AE033.
R2AY004 on SEUS?
@mwarner:
It will be nice if you change the URL to SEUS in your first post.

I am pretty sure TMS has R2AY, they always have the latest firmware before anyone else. As long as you know what you are doing TMS is a superb tool for updating firmware!
Posted by smjohns
Alternatively try http://www.davinciteam.com/
With their client you can update to the latest firmware although you will loose all your settings and files so back up fully before hand. Also this method costs but it can enable you to use the DSS-25.

I upgraded my K700i to R2AY 004 and my wife's K500i to R2AT at the local SE service last week.

I'm waiting for the SEUS release...

Fixed the links to the K700 SEUS page and SE DRM Packager.

can i use SEUS to update my phone with the dss-25 after using davinci unlock and upgrade?
And after i unlock my phone with davinci, im able to use whatever simcard i want?
Posted by smjohns
As long as you use davinci to unlock and de-brand thus restoring your phone to the SE default software then yes you can then use SEUS. Not sure how long it will take SEUS to offer later firmware than R2AE033.....gonna be a while though by the looks of it.
Posted by Sebby
You'll need to change the CDA too. If you just unbrand, when you use the SEUS, it will download the branded firmware as it will still see it as a branded handset.
Check out this post for a list:

SEUS still at R2AE033.... Can someone correct the first post in this thread?
Posted by Sebby
Yep, should be "released at service centres", not "released on SEUS".
Posted by nikern
My phone is not branded.
And I just want to upgrade to the latest firmware.
how am I to go forth?
Just upgrade it with the firmwareversion i want, that is with the same language that i have now (norwegian)? Is there something special that i need to do to upgrade my phone's firmware that isnt mentioned in the manual? Can someone write me a easy but complete guide how to do it?
Posted by mwarner
@nickern
Read the first post. It will explain what to do.
Posted by nikern
btw, can i use the dss-25 to unlock and flash a k500i ??
Posted by Sebby
@ nikern
Yes you can.

Hi!
I tried updating my software of my SE K700i using the SE Update Services but still the version remains the same R2AE, I am India, is there any other way to update the software please help.
Posted by smjohns
Only way to update your phone beyond R2AE is to either send it to an official Sony Ericsson Service Centre or us the Team Davinci website as linked to in my previous post.

I found this on the 1st page of this thread:
R2AY004
- Released by DaVinci on 24/5/05
- Released on SEUS 10/6/05
- Currently no reported changes from R2AT
- JBenchmark 1: 2419
- JBenchmark 2: 127
LCD: 200406041
Camera: 3.10
ITP: CXC 125 813 R1T
My phone is unbranded and unlocked and yet, SEUS says that my phone is upto date. I would like to know if any of you have used SEUS to update to R2AY004? Please let me know if someone has done it!

This is a mistake. It hasn't been released on the SEUS, it has been released at service centres.

Is there a way to shut off the shutter sound in R2AY?
Posted by c_vignesh
Help Guys !! I am india,.....i am going to buy a k700i ..i would like to know which is the latest official frimware coming here
Posted by vergon
just put the phone in silent mode or turn down the volume to zero
Posted by imperialv
In R2L will work if you choose silent mode. But in R2AY, it doesnt shut off.
Posted by stamos
anybody knows when it is going to be released the R2AY at SEUS?
Posted by smjohns
Sorry matey, your guess is as good as ours. Not sure if SEUS ever intend to release this version onto their online service. From the sounds of it, there are a few bugs with R2AY and as such they may wait until the next release.....or not.
Shame we don't have a man/woman on the inside....would be very useful
Posted by Sebby
It would seem that since R2AE, the firmware releases have been a bit uncertain. Perhaps this is why they haven't appeared on the SEUS.
