Anyone from the Philippines with a k700i firmware version higher than R2L?
About two weeks ago, I tried SEUS and I'm still getting R2L001...
Posted by Sebby
@ rodmond
I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but are you sure it's R2L and not R2AL you got from the SEUS?
Posted by rodmond
@ Sebby
No problem about the clarification. It's still R2L001.
Posted by hazzard
Yeah me too i just used it right now and thats all i got.

So R2L is still the latest software from SEUS ???

Normally,R2AE033 is the latest firmware version for K700i on Sony Ericsson website & service centres!But in some days service centres will have R2AL029 which is the latest version!But in some locations maybe there aren't newer software versions than R2L001 or maybe they are available only in service centres!I suggest you to go in a service centre in a few days & get it updated at R2AL029!Btw,does anyone know what are the changes on this new version of firmware?Please write them somewhere!Thanks in advance!

@poutsaras
There are no new features or other changes in the firmware (that I have noticed). The only visual change I have seen is when opening a folder that contains pictures - it's very very fast now. With R2AE033 it took a few seconds before all the preview pictures showed up... slowly one by one... In R2AL029 there is no delay what so ever! When I open a folder containing pictures they show up instantly. Scrolling inside a folder containing lots of pictures is finally as fast as scrolling through a large addressbook!
Other than that I have found no difference between R2AE033 and R2AL029... besides the fact that my HBH-600 finally works fine now.

@CyberVisitor:
Wow! Thanks for the info! Waiting for it to be released via SEUS.

Sounds like excellent enhancements!

@ CyberVisitor
What didn't work about your HBH-600 when you had R2AE003?

When an incomming call was answered by pressing the button on the headset, it took some time before the call went through - it was a delay and it disturbed me!

Question about R2AN001...
Does this O2 specific release R2AN001 unlock the 'My Friends' feature that was previously disabled in the previous R2L001?

Is it possible for me to upgrade my firmware to R2AE033 on the SEUS site, even though my phone is an O2 branded phone?

@ jagger2k
You are correct, O2 do now allow the use of the SEUS.

I've actually got the R2AN001 firmware using the SEUS, shortly after upgrading the firmware i did the finalization process using the Davinci client to get rid of the camera sound. Afterwards the camera sound could be turned off by muting, and the 'My Friends' feature was unlocked.
But because i did the Davinci client finalization process straight after, i couldn't tell whether or not the firmware upgrade itself allowed me to turn off the camera sound by muting and enable 'My Friends'.
So now i'm thinkin, if i try to upgrade my firmware again on SEUS, will i still have the 'My Friends' feature and will i still be able to mute the camera sound.
Is there anyone out there who's upgraded to the R2AN001 firmware and can tell me that this firmware unlocks the 'My Friends' and enables muting of camera?

Upgraded from ae033 to al029, but now i have just english menus.
I did like this, downloaded a cid29-cid36 firmware and did NOT choose finalize.
Then I downloaded the main software and fs-software (eu4).
All went smooth, but I lost my swedish menus?
Anyone have any hints how to get my swedish menus back?

Hi. I have a Sim-Free k700i which i use with an O2 Online Pay As You Go simcard. I experience the O2 sms bug (where txt messages often arrive extremely late) and was wondering if i upgrade my firmware from R2AE033 to the new O2 specific R2AN001, will my phone then have stupid O2 customisation, and if so, whats included in this customisation? Icons etc? The only reason why i want to change my firmware is because the new O2 specific R2AN001 fixes the sms txt messaging bug. And does anyone know if the new Sony Ericsson generic firmware R2AL001 also fixes the O2 SMS bug, obviously i'd prefer this one.
Any ideas?

Ive got the R2AN001 firmware on my O2 branded phone. O2 icons are still there, however there are no delays in receiving SMS messages.
Sometimes, when receiving messages with over 180 characters takes a few mins, you'll receive the first half of a message and then the rest a few mins later... that cud be your problem (as this happens to any phone).

R2AA003 is still the fastest
Posted by Sebby
@danielgsx
Faster than R2AE? My K700i originally came with R2AC (later than R2AA) and it was slowww!

Hi all, just asking, does anyone of you here using Sony Ericsson phones have accidentally or unintentionally made any scratches or marks on your phone? I've accidentally made 3 marks, though small, on the side of my K500i when I opened my front cover and I'm feeling troubled and sad over it. Anyone has any advice for me?
Posted by hazart
@danielgsx
Just relax; you'll feel better tomorrow, trust.

I've found that however hard I try, it's impossible not to scratch a phone. Don't worry about it.

Anyone know when R2AL029 is likely to be out on SEUS?
Posted by Sebby
@ smjohns
I wonder if it's out on the SEUS already. I unbranded my friends K700i with R2AE033 and changed the CDA to 102298/83 (UK generic trade). I went to just check that it worked on the SEUS, and it said it was ready to download an update. Now if the firmware was up-to-date, it would say it's up-to-date. However, I didn't go any further with the update in case I messed his phone up so I can't say for sure. Unfortunately, I can't try the SEUS with my phone at the moment (which is the same as his). Don't ask why, it's a long story!
Posted by smjohns
I will try mine again at the weekend although I tried it on Sunday and it came up with the You are running the up to date software and my phone has R2E033. I suppose they could have released it yesterday?
Posted by Sebby
@ smjohns
Is your phone network-branded? What is your CDA?
Posted by smjohns
Yes my phone is completely unbranded and has a CDA code of 102286/17 R2A. The rest is cxc 125622 R2AE033 EU_2
Posted by Sebby
@ smjohns
Ah, yes, you're using the EU2 specific CDA. Change it to CDA102298/83 which is the UK generic trade default. When I tried the SEUS with my friend's phone that was running R2AE with this CDA number, it said there was an update, but I didn't go ahead with it. When I tried another friend's with EU1 and the EU1 specific CDA (like yours, just 1 number less), it said it was up-to-date. So I'd say change it.
Take a look here. Post #1 gives the language pack specific CDAs. Post #10 gives the country defaults, which are better I believe.

Reflashing my phone to a UK specific CDA102298/83 R2A - K700i - Generic Trade United Kingdom would be a right pain as I don't have the cable, have not used SE Tool before (so no credits) and would have to go through the hassle of loading all my settings back in again.
Is there any other advantage of having this version software other than possibly being able to get my hands on R2AL029 now (using SEUS) rather than waiting for Sony to release this firmware to the rest of us.
If there are not functional differences then I will probably wait and just update my phone using SEUS as I have before.
Thanks for the info non the less as it has been well handy.

@ smjohns
First of all, there'd be no need to completely reflash your phone, nor would you have to use SE Tool. DaVinci can do this, using a DSS-25 (if you have one) and can simply change the CDA. There is no reflashing involved.
I cannot be 100% certain that R2AL is even on the SEUS, but what I do know is there was a newer version than R2AE when using this CDA.
Apart from the possibility of being more able to update using the SEUS, there are absolutely no advantages to having this CDA whatsoever. It does not change functionality in any way. So, unless you're really bothered about future updates using the SEUS, don't worry too much about it.

Does anyone know what chages are in R2AN001 - I just gotthis as a repacement phone today. Does this have My Friends? erm... What is My Friends?
I'm kinda new to all this phone stuff. Is there a tutorial around that tells me what is the latest K700i firmware and a step by step on how to flash it (without a docking station - I have cable and bluetooth attachments for PC)

Is SEUS going to serve R2AL?
Posted by smjohns
If it is currently being issued to their repair centres then it will eventually emerge on SEUS at some point. It seems they release all their new versions to their repair centres first so that if there are any missed bugs in the upgrade pack then it is only the repair centres performing the upgrade and they can just roll back the firmware/fix the phone. When it has been with them for a month or so, it 'should' then end up on SEUS.

@smjohns
Thanks. Very good explanation!

I plan to have my fw updated to R2AL029 when it becomes available at the nearby SESS. Will I lose all the words that I have saved in the T9 dictionary when the update is performed? Thanks....
Posted by smjohns
Assuming they don't have to master reset your phone then all your data (including phone book) 'should' be ok. They will warn you that you could loose your data as if there is a problem they may have to re-flash the whole phone. If they don't have any probs then you should be ok. Best back it up to be on the safe side
Posted by mwarner
@chili
I am not sure whether it is always the case, but every time I have updated firmware on any of my SE phones my T9 custom dictionary entries are lost. If any one else has differing experiences then i'm sure Chili would like to know! I have updated both through EMMA, in a SE Service Centre (when such things existed in the UK!) and DaVinci before with the same results.

please somebody confirm that there is NO camera sound in the R2AL firmware.
if so, i visit a service centre tomorrow.....
Posted by hazart
@392MHz
The shutter sound is not firmware revision dependent but region dependent.

Look out for new firm soon,
