If mophun is beter than java in the views of many people then why are more java sites than mophun why are there more java games than mophun why do java have games similar to game consoles?

Posted by slattery69
probably cause java is the paltform most moblies use so there is more demand.
morphun looked better on the t610,630 etc as the java implimentation was so basic.
on the k700 its better so morphun has gone and i would guess it will disappear in the not to distant furture

Posted by kr4nc
Slattery69@ its MOPHUN and not morphun

Posted by whizkidd
But Mophun games are good too. Ain't they?

Posted by slattery69
thanks for correcting me i was rushing a reply and not bothering to check spelling but i believe i got the msg across which is what matters more

Java is certainly more common and more general than Mophun.

There are probably a lot more Java-developers/programmers than Mophun-developers/programmers worldwide.

But Mophun games runs faster, and are better than java. The only java game i like is WORMS.

Posted by hunting hawk
But u wil never find a mophun game which is similar to splintercell and java games are smaller in size

Posted by Lemon_
The main reason is, that mophun game developers need to pay rights to the mophun company. While java is fully free to use.

The same reason why ogg will replace mp3 soon. Every artist who sells there songs via mp3 has to pay royalties to the creators of mp3, while ogg is free to use. (+ better sound for equal filesize)

Yeah... Java is used on a most modern phones, wheres mophun is only used on a small range of phones. Java games etc are only more common because they can be used on most phones, so they will be more popular.

Posted by knight4led
Lemon_ is correct on this one, Java is popular because it is open source and free to distribute so long as the author agrees.

Mophun is a registered distribution company whose games are not for free distribution. Yes, the technology driving them is better, but availability counts for a lot.

Besides, more phones support Java, end of story

Posted by BloodLust
The funny thing is that cheaper phones support only mophun, which is more expensive to make, and more expensive phones support java, which is free

Posted by BobaFett
Think the latest javas are almost mpn quality, according graphic and sound.

Posted by brix25
The only problem I have with Mophun is the availability of titles. In termi is gameplay Mophun beats Java hands down. Would still like 2 play Splintercell on my phone though.

Posted by 701
I never play java on mine cuz most of them r so primitive.

Posted by Wazuki
Mophun is based on c++, so on latest se phones it transformed into full c++ support, so you can play smartphones games, which are times better than java.

Posted by Ayush
Even I like mophun better on 610 java is jerky

Posted by plasmadog
java is definitely the future of 3d mobile gaming.
i think since java is a common platform and is free.. it will proliferate.
but.. i guess if mophun is made free, it will do well too!

Posted by BobaFett
Indeed, java is the future, mpns arent to find anywhere. My operator offer some, but i dont wanna pay for fun features, they should be offered for free.

Posted by kr4nc
Java is better for me just because its free and its not only for games.

Posted by Wazuki
There are LOTS of free java and mophun games, you just should know places where to download. Im already bored with all those downloads the last game i downloaded was solitare on java. C++ rules anyway.

Posted by BobaFett
Many mpns caused weird things in my fone, i trust only few sites to avoid faulties later.

Posted by N-er-G
@kr4nc Do you have java on youre phone?
Anyway the reason that java is free and more popular is that there more easy to creat than mophuns. Mophuns are free to if you know the right link

this is only history repeating itself. back when betamax and vhs video recorders came out in the 70s it was betamax that was better quality wise but because the large manufacturers and public got behind vhs because thier machines were smaller, bye bye betamax.

Posted by brix25
I don't think It's quite a format war. Mophun's business model is not delivering. The fact that the development tools are not freely available has killed them.

Posted by Jake Blues
reading my post again, it didnt quite come out the way i meant it.
what i meant was if 2/3 years ago the big phone makers got behind mophun instead of java then things may have been different. regardless of how mophun works.
if programmers saw a big enough market then they would see money making potential, so they would pay to make mophun games and hopefully make a profit.
i admit there are a few people who make java games and give them away free but surely the majority are in it for the money. As said before the main drawback of mophun is programmers have to pay for the right to make the games, but if you thought you would make money you would pay!

Posted by buckle247
i always used to think mophun was better when i had my t610, but this was only because the java implementation on the t610 was so bad. Now i have the k700, i can see why java is so much better. Thousands of titles available, as opposed to a handful of mophun titles.

Posted by BobaFett
Not only onk k7, t6x0 fones have great java games, some of them are even better then mpn.

Posted by buckle247
maybe the t630 has good java, or newer firmwares for the t610, but all games i tried on the t610, were either bad, or invalid. Best game i found was pacman.

Posted by govigov
In java, if author allows they cud give away the game for free. Now even if a mpn developer wants to give it for free, the mophun company wudnt allow it. I wud say java has more future. Mophun is free too if you know where to look. ;-)

Posted by marlonxp
Mophun is slowly dying:-(

Posted by Jake Blues
which phone makers support mophun now? i thought i read se had stopped but doesnt the t230 support mophun?

Posted by brix25
Synergenix, the owners of Mophun, have said they would be concentrating their energies on Symbian devices. I'd like to play the 3D Java games on the new phones by SE. That's why I'm probably buying either a K500 or a K700 when they get launched in South Africa.

Posted by Jake Blues
Are there any symbian devices that support mophun out at the moment?
If not i think they left it too late. Why would se / nokia or any other symbian users suddenly decide mophun is the way to go?

Posted by brix25
A bird whispered in my that all current Symbian devices will be able to play games from Mophun.

Posted by Jake Blues
As well as java? Looks like mophun may well live to fight another day if that does happen!
Does symbian exist in devices other than mobiles e.g pda's? because that would help raise mophuns profile if they got in included in these other devices, especially if they got there before java

Posted by Ayush
You can play using Mophun emulators.

Posted by Wazuki
As i said, mophun is based on c++, and symbian uses c++ for all the stuff you use.

Posted by BobaFett
Where is mpn from, i mean what country? Tia

Posted by brix25
Sweden:-D

Posted by BobaFett
Thx, thats good news.
