Hi. I just wanted to let you know that the 13seconds trick doesnt really work. Well it removes preloaded stuff (you just dont see it) but you dont get more space- exactly the same as you get if you do only master reset. The only thing you get by doing 13s trick is moody and unstable phone. I tried this with t230 t310 and t300. I cant say for the other models.

Most of us already know this. If i remember right, this has been said before.

Posted by Jimbodoggy
ive no idea what this 'trick' is... anyone care to explain ?

Posted by Ayush
Just search for 13 sec trick. It's a waste anyway.

Posted by BobaFett
Remove the battery at the 13 sec after starting a master reset. Risky and dangerous way to free up memory.

Posted by Jimbodoggy
okay cheers for explaining:-)

Posted by BobaFett
Dont try it, u could kill your fone. But its up to u.

Posted by whizkidd
Why is it risky? Anybody had really bad experiences after the 13 sec trick? My T230 is ok and better than before. This doesn't mean that i am advocating the 13 sec trick. I did it cause at that time i didn't know it damaged the phone. I tried it even on my friends phone and its ok too.

My keeps turning off by itself about every 5 hours. And freezes alot...

yeh.. one of my friends tryed it on their T300. Crashes all the time.. sometimes doesnt switch off. weird stuff like that. But it was an excuse to get himself a nice new P900! seeing as his T300 was "ruined"

Twista

;-) I did it a year ago and am satisfied, really

Posted by Jimbodoggy
I wouldn't risk it. Hardly worth messing up a good phone is it ?

Posted by kr4nc
My opinion: dont do it.

Posted by Jimbodoggy
good opinion

Posted by BobaFett
The weird is that sometimes it works on the same way at different fws and different fones.

Posted by Jimbodoggy
I really cant understand how it would increase memory

Posted by vckay
It doesnt actually increase memory what it does is hide all the predefined stuff and show faulty free space . It is probably a software bug.

Posted by Jimbodoggy
oh right i see. Not worth risking it

Posted by BobaFett
Think after master reset the fw starts to reload the pre items back in the 13th second and by removing the battery this action fails, so later its not shown. But as written before its not deleting more hiding them.

Posted by kr4nc
I tried this trick on my previous t230 for at least 100 times and it never worked. On that one which im using now it worked for the first time. And, by the way, its really 12.5 second trick, if we are picky :-D

Posted by Jimbodoggy
how on earth did someone find out the exact time ? lol

Posted by kr4nc
Bobafett@ Youre totally right.

Posted by BobaFett
I think it was an insider info according the right moment.

the 13 sec trick has worked on my t310 all the time. i've never had any real problem with it crashing the phone or anything like that. it does however go a little overbord sometimes and delete stuff i had downloaded. oh and i think it actully does delete the stuff not hide them. i think there are two memory chips in the phones. the phone predefined items are stored on one pernamently and are copied into the second memory during master reset. when u do master the reset the phone clears everything in the second memory and loads the first one into it. but by taking out the battery it stops it from copying the predefined items thus creating more space

cheers

Posted by whizkidd
If the predefined items are really hidden, is there any way to bring em back? Would be nice eh! ?

Posted by marik
you can use master reset to get back the predefined items

Posted by marlonxp
I did the trick lots of times i managed to get 1097kb free on my t310. Now when i do a master reset only 8kb of stuff come back:-)

Posted by Ayush
@marik not always ;-) for me my tony hawk got permantly 'hidden'

Posted by BobaFett
As i see, it works mosty on the t3xx series.

Posted by marik
@ayush what phone did you use it on?

Posted by tsunami
Has anyone tried it on T68i? Will it make any damage?!?

Posted by crowing
ive used it on t68i, t230, t300, t310 and t610 all of which had the same response all predefined items were wiped out but came back after the normal master reset.

with regards to the t230, it had a weird thing. it could not receive OTA settings from sonyericssonwapsite and my mobile carrier. plus, when you try to save a bookmark while wapping, it would not save.

Posted by BobaFett
So u are a real 13 expert. Never any problems?

Posted by govigov
Mr. Expert, do you think it will clear the memory and not hide it? There is a way to check it, all you need to do is find out how many minutes of recording the phone can take with and without the predefined items. Somebody get this info in here. Cheers

I've used the 13 sec tric on many t68i and it has always worked flawlessly. The t68i SW has some bugs but doin 13 sec doesn't make it worse
