Where can I get my K700i upgraded to the latest firmware R2L? Semicon? Smartnet? SESS? Thanks!

@slikr - Good thing you've come up with this kind of 'Q' in this thread . Many Filipino members here will just be delighted to see a definite answer as to where they can upgrade the said software Though I have seen some posts saying that the new upgrade is still almost the same as the old one - full of bugs, or maybe lessen it a bit I will also be awaiting some postive replies here mate

good about the firmware
1. Battery life
2. fix the autorestart every 10 mins.

How about the SESS in Megamall?

Posted by *Jojo*
@m9rcy_19 - Many thanks for the info! I guess the Semicon Company upgrades the SE K700i fone model in almost 'all' of their branches, nationwide . . . I'll try visiting one of their branches in SM Dept. Store here in the south.

Isn't there supposed to be an online firmware update available using the DSS-20?

I suggest that you call the service center first. Some of them don't have the latest firmware for the K700i.

As far as I know, the SESS in Herrera, Makati has the R2L.

SESS in makati is the best place for upgrade... no lines, fast service (30-45mins max)

Posted by toshie_wataru
please take note of their new address. they are closed today (08/13) and tommorrow (08/14) and will open at their new address on monday (08/16):

Sony Ericsson Center
Digital Exchange
Glorietta 3, Ayala Center
Makati City

i think this is the one in the former Streetlife (in front of Gold's Gym and Friday's).

i had my firmware updated to R2L and i was asked to wait for 45 minutes but it took only around 15 to 20 minutes (and the phonebook memory wasn't erased at all).

@toshie_wataru - Many thanks for the advise mate . . . for those who are planning to visit that place today and tomorrow better postpone it by Sunday/Monday !

a more accessible location... nice!

SESS in SM north edsa has R2L. Upgrade was fast (45 mins. or less).

@alfaromeo777 - Well, how 'bout the results mate Improving, or your K700i is still the same

with r2l:

* one of the theme files (sony ericsson) is corrupted.
* you can now delete a contact from a group without deleting the whole group
* recurrent snooze is now available.
* still prompts for the phone lock code at power on even if phone lock protection is set to automatic.
* they say screen is brighter
* battery life seems longer (i am not sure though if this is due to the firmware upgrade or because i've been charging my phone in off mode for 12 hours. i know it may sound stupid but some people here claims that they're battery life gets better after charging it for 12 hours so what the heck. its no harm trying. )

anyone here knows how to change the home icon into the mobile icon for a particular contact? coz whenever i copy my sim numbers in the the phone memory, the default icon was the home. unlike in nokia where you could set it to whichever you want. so what i do is manually copy the number and set it to mobile then delete the number with the home icon.

I am planning to upgrade to R2L as well, after two weeks since the last post, are there really marked improvements?

Mine has R2E. Need your two cents worth as well.

Oh I envy you guys ! Me? I brought my k700i in Semicon podium sunday after 2 hrs. they could not upgrade it! They sent it to main branch (along marcos hwy) and up to now (wednesday) they still haven't upgraded it! I'm already contemplating on pulling out my unit w/c was working finewhen I gave it ot them with stock firmware (r2a051 I think)..WTF!!! I'll probably sue them if they f**ked up the phone instead of upgrading it.

kenski i know exactly how you feel. ganyan ginawa nila sa p800 ko. flash lang gusto ko inabot ng 3 months. hanggang naging replacement. sana wag mangyari sayo ito,

Had my unit upgraded to R2L from R2E at S.E.S.S. in libis. They did it in 40 min. Can't say that it improved my phone though. My main complaint on the K700i is the battery. After upgrading to R2L, battery life hasn't improved much. It averages 8-10 hrs before the battery low warning appears. If I neglect the alarm, after around 20-30 min. the phone turns off. So now I always carry a spare battery. The K700i is really a great phone but the battery sucks. Unlike my 7250 before which lasts 3 days before needing to recharge.

hmmm... mine had some improvements on battery as well (aside from the other stuffs ive mentioned in my previous post). before it only lasts for around 6 to 8 hours but now i could use it for 24 hours. the first time i got it i charged the phone for a full 12 hours (phone turned off) then i drained it. i did this 3 times. i dont know... i just read in some post here in esato that after doing this their battery life got better so i tried my luck. now its better.

@dunkin, thn for the reply. My problem is that the fone was'nt bought in semicon I bought it in goldcrest (glorietta). All I want was an upgrade but now I havent had a phone for 4 days now and its killing me! . I wont go back to semicon again for repairs/upgrade

I hope they would just replace my fone with r2l in it.

Instead of going to SESS or Semicon, what I did was to do it through on-line in SE's Update Service web site.

I borrowed a friend's DSS-25 from her P900 and followed the web site's instructions.

From R2E to R2L, there are marked improvements, in the performance. Battery life seems the same, though. Tennis games run faster, web browsing seem quicker, too.

just a question, if i buy a k700i this month, will it have the latest firmware? thanks!

Posted by GOwin
@alternateve
most likely, you wouldn't.

take samcuesta's advise. upgrade it yourself to the latest firmware version.

hey thanks for the reply...appreciate it =)
