Nokia 6220 midi files wont play

Recently my old man brought a nokia 6220. After a few weeks of having it he then decided to buy a data cable and two cds full of midi ring tines which he should of been able to copy to the phone and play on the phone. As we all know the simplest things are never easy (not for me any way), so when i copied the files over to the phone and tryed to play them the phone displayed an error msg saying "unknown file" or somthing to that effect.

My challenge I put to you is "How do I get the midi files to work?"
Are they to complex for the phone, do they need dumbing down if so how, with what software.
