Seems to be - my "local" service centre rang me this afternoon to tell me new firmware is available. I'll be taking my K700 in tomorrow morning to be flashed.

This service centre previously told me there would be a new release in August which would fix battery issues so here's hoping that's true.....

....they are usually reliable.

got it
now for the batterie it seems better! but let me do a total cycle before conclusions

Someone with access to EMMA II please check this FW availablility for ASIAN LATIN 4.

Is there any official change log for each release?

Posted by Marcus_129
Itīs released in mostly all countrys but scandinavia.
And not for those who have branded phones.

Posted by Dovern
For those people who already upgraded the firmware, could you please post what has been improve? thanks!

Good to hear that a new firmware is out.

I have an O2 branded phone and for those in the know, it is branded only by a theme, WAP button, welcome screen and goodbye screen and that's it I think.

I hope this firmware can help me out, especially on the battery front.

Further, I live in Northwood, near Harrow, Pinner and Watford, where can I get a firmware upgrade around here and how long does it take? From upgrades to the T68i and T610, I didn't lose any of my content, did anyone lose content when they upgraded the K700i?

Is it possible to update your firmware under warrenty without taking it into an SE centre or sending it away?

I live miles from any SE centre and will not be without my phone for a week thanks.

I've got the update. It fixes 95% of all bugs!!!
When i got it back from the servicce point, i thought it was a new phone!!!!
*No more reboot on sync!
*Fullscreen images on slide show mode, even if they are rotated or not!
*Now it's possible to delete one contect from a group without deleting the whole group
*At missed calls list, it's now shown the time of th last missed call
*After java games, no problem playing sounds and videos
*Smoother video playback
*When in phonebook, it's now possible to change keyboard language by simply press the # key.
*Faster image browsing
*Battery indicator shows the real status of battery (not less)
*Light is fadding out, when in any menu for some seconds

P.S.: Sorry for my bad english but i am in hary. If i find anything new i'll post it!
Buy!

yeah it's bug-free now but it still didn't resolve my "frames" camera problem! it takes out the reset bug on it but I still can't access them

Posted by JasonDeFaoite
*Fullscreen images on slide show mode, even if they are rotated or not!

Exactly what I wanted!

Has it fixed the delay when answering a call?

Posted by daveyj
marcus_129: my O2 branded K700i was updated sucessfully so the firmware is suitable for O2 branded phones if not others.

The "phone lock" bug is still present - when lock is set to automatic it prompts for the phone lock code at every power on rather than only when the SIM card is changed.

The screen brightness has been increased - the O2 default theme now looks much poorer as you can see horizontal blue "bars" rather than a graduated panel on the 'More' menu, etc.

The bug whereby the first call received after power up produces an "answer, reject, answer and continue" menu seems to have been fixed - I certainly haven't seen it since the upgrade.

My O2 branded phone never used to make a shutdown noise - it does now !

The upgrade removed my shortcuts, but no data was lost. They were easy enough to put back so that wasn't a problem.

I don't know if the battery meter has been fixed - I only charged last night so I'll see over the next few days.

And no, you can't use your own SMS ring tone

@Derek456

just set "Meeting" profile......

service centre for me is MILESSSS away, not even close.

Skrue: "i believe software upgrades cannot change hardware: brighter backlight!? "

Why not ? The volume is altered by software translating your button presses to increase/decrease power to the earpiece.

Presumably there's just a D/A converter (which is software controlled) controling the voltage level to the LEDs.

They are both simple digital/analogue conversions.

@All,

I just noticed that after approximately 5 mins, the BT connection to the headset is released. If this is true, then this will significantly help with the battery life. I will test this and report back. The call pickup with BT seems very fast and stable. Are we all ready to say Hallaluja(did I spell that right)?

Cheers fellow K700i'ers

R2L in Taiwan also can not close the sound in any way!

daveyj,
Are you sure you got R2L? Marcus said there is no R2L for branded phone.

Sounds great! can't wait to have my phone's FW upgraded:-)

daveyj,
Thank for clarification.

My K700 (R2C001 -> R2E001) did not ask for phonelock code after power on. I also set it to automatic.

when the next one?

So bad!!!

I am still using R2E

Hmm, how is it with the phone memory when a firmware update is done? Will any settings prior to the update remain? Will music and java apps remain in memory? Phonebook? Or is it a total wipeout?

Have a nice day!

Can you only get R2L by going to a SE shop? My nearest shop is miles away

Posted by Bliksem
Can we customise the text alert?

Posted by vegetaleb
about the batterie life: I am on the 12th hour now after charging and the level is still on green about 60-65%...in the r2a the level would be on ending red

Posted by sapporobaby
I agree. The battery life is pretty close to normal. Has anyone experienced there BT headset disconnecting after 5 or 6 mins? Mine does but I am not quite sure if this is a power saving feature.

Posted by Tetrameth
How do I find out which version of the firmware I'm running?

Posted by gareb
@Tetrameth

Welcome first of all.You can always use search 'cause your aint the first askin' this question. So good look

After the R2L software upgrade, my k7's batt was charged yesterday morning, up to now still on a green status using fm radio and internet browsing simultaneously.

Posted by feco
I got the new firmware today, the light dims faster than the R2A!!! the phone is not freezing anymore!! I think that there are a newer version in Emma, because Erisson told that they couldnt flash it to the newest version, but anyway I like this firmware

Posted by runab0ut
here in PH, the R2L's silent mode still mutes the shutter sound.

Posted by vineet_d
Is this update available online?

Posted by feco
Maybe it will be online when the site works

Posted by scream
Anyone know if the new firmware now is available in scandinavia?

Posted by Dovern
Wow! Good to heard that the new firmware has improved the battery life... i wish i could upgrade it asap....

Posted by Firefreak
Hi, Just thought I should share this with you all, don't know if it's of interest.

I just spoke to OCOM in sweden and they told me that the R2L firmware is currently being distributed to all SE Level 2 Service Locations. They further told me that they will update my phone for free during my warranty period. The R2L firmware at OCOM is due out sometime during next week.

Updating your phone for free at OCOM requires that you bought it there... otherwise it's a $80 service.

Does the new fware fix the snooze function in recurrent alarm mode?

Posted by sunnychad
I just got off the phone to Intec Cellular Services in Barnet, North London. They are only aware of firmware R2A041, no further releases have been done.

I live near Watford and work near Ealing, could someone suggest where I can go to get my firmware updated please. Also how long does it take?

Thanks

S
