Yo wife's grandma wants a mobile phone. Her body is getting pretty frail but upstairs she is bright as anything. She cant handle the charger cord on SE phones, too fidely.for her old fingers, so I need to look at other brands. Big clear buttons, good clear screen, simple menu and an easy to plug in charger socket is what she needs. Any bright ideas and home advice out there?

a nokia ?

Brand is on concern to her as long as the phone is suitable for her needs.

and big magnifying glass.

... And a new pair of hands for the charger? Come on guys, I'm serious.

How bout a nokia 2100 its easy to use has a bright and readable screen and of course the charger like she wanted.

Posted by bart
ericsson has the easyest menu thats true, but if she cant handel the charger we got a problem. what about siemens? A55? or a nokia 6310i?

Why doesn't her grandson-in-law buy her a P900 and power the base station up so the phone just needs docked to charge?

Your choices:Nokia 3200, 6310i, 3510i or some clamshell.

Now that is actually not such a bad idea.

Does she neede a color screen phone? The 3510i screen is not at all readable in daylight.

My elderly aunt was looking for a phone with the same criteria... big easily pressed buttons, and big clear screen...

She went for the Nokia 1100 which she finds great!

Posted by whizkidd
Yeah the 1100 is good. But the 2100 screen is more bright and readable. The 1100 has a good message storage capacity though.

Posted by plasmadog
yeah the 1100 is a good phone.
very sturdy, i think its got a hard shell, so even if u drop it, its no problem.
i saw this up on the esato website. the lg NS1000.
its only 86 US cents!!!

what about a se desktop charger?

Posted by kinc
Does it have to be mobile, get her a portable phone. She has made too 92 without a mobile.

not the 1100. bad feedback from old custumors.
3150i haha worst collorscreen phone ever. you've got to be extremely stupid to buy it.
if she's got money i would also suggest the z600, good feedback from old people who want a big sceen, big buttons, easy to use, great battery and something the grandchilderen can play with

Whats wrong with a 2100?

Posted by TheGlassJAw
what a fantastic thread! get her an n-gage, a granny speaking into a taco, now theres something i would like to see!

My advice is a nokia 3310. I mean its got no color or really big screen but its ideal. Plus its drop safe. I actually tried to see how far i could drop one without it being destroyed. All the bloody thing's got is a scratch.....Simple menu....cheap fone. Should be ideal.

bad feedback of old people on 1100/2100/3310/xxxx
screen is poor, the old people don't like the buttons on the 1100/2100/3510. 3310-3410 is ok but again poor screen.

some old people are willing to pay alot and they want a phone that will last for some years, they want a great battery, big buttons, big clear screen (color would be nice) and also a strong phone. and strangely the Z600 is getting alot of votes.
6310i is also nice. T100 also because of the easy menu, but not everybody likes the "small" buttons.

old people are people that are 60-xxx

Thanks guys for all the good advice.
I'll take 'em all into concideration but I must admit I'm leaning towards the idea of a or /// with a desk top charger.
The idea of her with an N-gage is quit facinating though

My Grandma just bought a Sendo M550. Simple flip phone, that you plug the charger in the only hole in the phone, no bending or anything! You open the flip, dial the number/ scroll though the phone book, press call, talk, shut the flip to end and put away... simple! And the ringtones are fairly loud! A very simple phone IMO

And, in the UK it was only Ģ50!

small buttons, and sendo hmm not really heard much about them

Posted by djpowelly
They are not THAT small... thats only a picture, my Grandma finds it easy to use

Why no a Ericsson Hotline?

Maybe a VERTU if you gran is feeling she needs a little Bling-Bling in her life....

trust me on the 3310, its a very good phone.. i used one for four years... i accidently threw that one at a dog, and nothing happened to it!!! it came back in four pieces but all i had to do was put it back together... and regarding readabilty if u think the screen lights are dim, then get the white l.e.d's on it, ease of use the best press a key to answer and dont bother to hang up, it will do on its own once the other party hangs up. easy phone book access and to last dialles numbers... get her on fast dial than all she needs is to press a key to dial, much better... tones are the loudest around..
