Wifi is a wireless standard like bluetooth with higher transfer rates.

you can use ADSL internet connection on wifi ,the connection is given by some antenas in the cities

2.4ghz is the frequency at which it operates.it is 802.11b standard.it has normal data rates of 11mbs .correct me if i am wrong.

@forkliftdriver - I'm not stalking you, as I would have replied to the WiFi stuff alot earlier but I lost my new posts cache - funny that.
Anyhow WiFi at home is the dogs danglies, I'd recommand you have a wireless access point (WAP) combined ADSL router and run in whats called infrastucture mode (bridge mode used to boost signal in large areas (or between your neighbours
