Dear All,
I have some problem with the t68i irda connection to my notebook, Asus L-3800S.
The iRDA connection is so unstable, it takes a minute to detect, and then it's gone after 1 minute, and then detect again another minute, and so on ...
I've checked the t68i iRDA on another PC with MA iRDA, it works fine. Also tested with the new Asus wide screen notebook, it works.
I've installed win2k, winxp, the same issue.
I also used all the software from sonyericsson.com website, but since the iRDA is not stable, they are not working at all
Some people said that probably the iRDA is not compatible with t68i.
Anyone knows how to resolve this issue?
Thanks!!

I see problem on the note side. Try to install new irda ports (com), goto add new hardware to create them. If no success buy usb - irda dongle or try bt one.

Thanks, I've tought of buying the BT dongle, but still curious, why it works on other and apparently it doesnt work in my own personal NB
However, the iRDA is actually fine.
I used to use ME45 for GPRS access before, and for checking, I've used the N7650, and T630, all of them work seamlessly without any problem at all !
How can you imagine that you buy a phone which wont work ONLY in your notebook (bought it for my ME45 has no tri-band, while I need to travel to state). Bad luck?

Yes,that's a bad luck.Try also to change set up of irda in bios.

BT is more problematic than IR, to be realistic, as BT is still new and the Widcom software is still in the development stage. 3 SE phones on 5 PC's with onboard and USB IR adapters running Win98 -XP. No problem whatsoever. Just change the IR speed on device manger or system BIOS(though I never had to do that for my PCs).

Thanks All.
Simply change the max of the iRDA in the Device Manager, set to 9600, it works now
Anyway, the default is 4M, so huge compare to 9,6k
Anything affected by it ?

congratulations to your success !

@ophidian
Just try different settings. Maybe the IR on your notebook can't really handle 4M. Hard to tell. Mine's at 4M and works with my phones, though none being T68i.

BT is good for up to 10 m (theoretically) and does not require direct line of sight. IR is only good for 10 cm, maybe?

Yes,thats only good for notebooks or PDA. Ur comp may connect by wire btw think more reliable.

ESTOR - Itīs 1 meter for irda... but however still worse then
